1. Magnetic Field on Axis of a Current Loop
Question: A thin circular loop of radius \( R \) carries a current \( I \). At a point on the axis of the loop at a distance \( x \) from the center, the magnetic field is:
- Maximum when \( x = 0 \)
- Maximum when \( x = 2R \)
- Maximum when \( x = \frac{R}{2} \)
- Maximum when \( x = R \)
Answer: (a) Maximum when \( x = 0 \)

- 20 cm
- 5 cm
- 100 cm
Answer: (b) 20 cm
3. Photoelectric Effect Calculation
Question: Given stopping potential \( V_s = 3 \, \text{V} \) and wavelength \( \lambda = 400 \, \text{nm} \), calculate the work function \( \Phi \) of the metal.
(Using Einstein’s photoelectric equation \( hf = \Phi + eV_s \), the calculated work function was approximately 0.1 eV, which did not exactly match options, indicating a tricky numerical question.)
- 0.1 eV
- 0.2 eV
- 0.3 eV
- 0.4 eV
Answer: (a) 0.1 eV
4. Heat Required to Double RMS Speed of Gas Molecules
Question: 0.014 kg of \( \text{N}_2 \) gas at 27°C is kept in a closed vessel. How much heat is required to double the rms speed of the \( \text{N}_2 \) molecules?
- 3119 J
- 4158 J
- 1039 J
- 2079 J
Answer: (b) 4158 J
