The Registration for Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling is over, and the official website, tnmedicalselection.net, will soon release the schedule as well.

The DME will conduct Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025, for 85% state quota seats in government colleges and 100% seats in private colleges.

  • The Counselling will be conducted in different rounds, which will include Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round according to seat availability. The Candidates should register online, submit their choices, verify the documents and confirm the allotment by physically reporting to the college.
  • The Candidates who will match the qualifying criteria given by Tamil Nadu will be qualified for NEET 2025, and their names will be added to the state merit list, and they can appear for the counselling process. The NRI and Management Quota seats in the private colleges will be filled by the centralised counselling.

Tamil Nadu offers more than 12,000 MBBS and BDS seats in more than 35 government and private colleges. The seat matrix and course availability will be released before each round.

The result of the seat allotment, joining instructions and college-wise vacancy will be published after each round on the official website.

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling Process

The DME, Tamil Nadu, will conduct the Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling for admission to state and private colleges' MBBS/BDS programs. Registration, document verification, choice filling, seat assignment, and reporting to the designated college are all part of the online counselling process.

Stages of Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling

Online Registration Candidates have to visit and register on tnmedicalselection.net using the NEET Login credentials.
Upload Documents Have to upload the scanned copies of required documents, including the NEET Scorecard, certificates, etc.
Payment of Fees For the Government Quota, candidates must pay a non-refundable registration cost of Rs. 500, and for the Management Quota, they must pay Rs. 1000 online.
Merit List Release The DME will release a state-wise merit list based on the NEET Scores and eligibility criteria.
Choice Filling Candidates will have to fill out and lock their preferred courses and colleges online.
Seat Allotment Seats will be allotted based on NEET rank, preferences, seat availability, and reservation norms.
Download Allotment The Provisional allotment letter can be downloaded from the official website.
Reporting to the College Candidates will have to report to the allotted college within the given time with original documents.
Subsequent Rounds The seats that are not filled and are vacant will be carried forward to other rounds.

Who is eligible for the NEET state quota in Tamil Nadu?

To participate in the Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling, the candidates have to qualify for NEET 2025 and fulfil the educational and age-related requirements set by the DME, Tamil Nadu.

Both the government and private college students should fulfil the eligibility criteria involved in the state merit list.

Requirements for Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Eligibility

NEET Qualification Candidates should qualify for NEET 2025 with the required cutoff percentage.
Nativity The Candidate should belong to Tamil Nadu or should have studied from class 6 to 12 in Tamil Nadu.
Educational Qualification English, chemistry, biology, and physics should have been passed in class 12.
Minimum Marks (General) The candidate must receive at least 50% in PCB in 10+2.
Minimum Marks (Reserved) For BC, MBC, SC, and ST, the minimum score is 40%; for PwD, it is 45%.
Age Limit As on December 31, 2025, candidates must be at least 17 years old; there is no upper age limit.
Domicile Certificate Required for candidates who have not completed schooling in Tamil Nadu but claim nativity.
NRI/Management Quota NRI/OCI/PIO candidates are eligible under the Management/NRI Quota in private medical colleges.

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling Seat Allotment Rounds

The Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling will be conducted in 4 rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up round and stray vacancy rounds.

The candidates' selections, NEET score, rank, and reservation requirements will all be taken into consideration when allocating seats for NEET counselling.

Round 1 For all the eligible candidates Seat Allotment should be done based on rank and preference, including online registration, fee payment and choice filling. The candidate should go to the allotted college to confirm their seat.
Round 2 (Re-allotment) Wait-listed or upgraded candidates There will be no fresh registration; the preferences can be modified, and seats can be reallocated. The candidates who are satisfied with the seats can exit, and the others can still participate. Seat upgradation is allowed, and the security fees are applied.
Mop-Up Round All joined, wait-listed, or upgraded candidates Fresh registration is allowed for the remaining seats after Round 1 or Round 2. If the candidate is given the seat but chooses not to take it, there will be a penalty.
Stray Vacancy Round Only vacant seats remaining Fresh registration and choice filling will be done immediately after allotment by DME. Seats are filled directly by colleges under the DME Guidelines.
