MCC will start the NEET Counselling 2025 from July 21, 2025, once the NEET 2025 results are announced on 14th of June'25. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the counselling process and candidates can get details of counselling from their official website: neet.nta.c.in. The choice filling will start from July 22, 2025. The last date for registration and choice filling is July 28, 2025.

The MCC conducts the counselling for the 15% AIQ seats and the remaining 85% will be managed by state level counselling authorities.

The seat allotment process for NEET Counselling 2025 is done for different types of categories to maintain transparency and fairness in the admission process.

  • All India Quota (AIQ): Comprises 15% of total seats, which allows candidates to apply for the top medical colleges all over India.
  • State Quota: These seats are allotted to candidates of the respective states, including almost 85% of the seats.
  • Deemed/Central Universities: Set aside 5-7% of seats for their national counselling.
  • For Reserved Categories, 7.5 % for ST, 15% for SC, 27% for OBC and 10% for EWS.

The official date for NEET Counselling 2025 online application and document verification are out on the official website. The registration will be open from July 21 to July 28, 2025. The choice filling will be from July 22 to July 28.

The seat allotment result for Round 1 will be declared on July 31, 2025 and the short listed candidates need to join their respective colleges by August 1 to 6, 2025.

When can I apply for NEET counselling?

As of now, the starting date for NEET Counselling 2025 registration is July 21, with the start of AIQ Round 1 registration. This is aligned with the mid-July scheduled NEET UG 2025 expected result declaration on 14th of June.

The choice filling and locking will be from July 22 to 28, followed by Round 1 seat allotment results on July 31, 2025. Counselling and subsequent rounds, which include Round 2, Mop-Up, and Stray Vacancy, will continue through to September 2025. State quota counselling will run in parallel from July through November 2025.

New Changes in NEET AIQ Counselling 2025

The below mentioned points are the new changes made in NEET AIQ Counselling 2025. Candidates should know about this before registering for the counselling process.

  • After Round 2 NO Upgradation of seat will be allowed
  • Once a candidate accepts a seat in Round 2, then they will not get any chance to resign or participate in Mop-up or further rounds.
  • Candidates who do not accept Round 2 seat allotment, they can re-register for the Mop-up Round and can lose their security deposit.
  • Fresh registration is needed for Mop-up Round if:
    • You did not register earlier
    • You did not report/join after Round 1 or 2
    • You resigned your previous seat
  • Candidates upgraded in Mop-up Round must obtain relieving from their Round 2 college before joining the new one.
  • No resignations or upgrades allowed after Mop-up.

NEET 2025 Expected Qualifying Marks

The NEET 2025 qualifying marks is the minimum score a candidate needs to score in order to be eligible for the Counselling process. These marks vary from the category to category based on percentile cut offs.

What is minimum marks for Counselling in NEET 2025?

For the General (Unreserved) category, candidates must score at least in the 50th percentile, which is around 715 to 120 marks out of 720. 120 marks means it is the minimum marks that makes a candidate eligible for the counselling process but this does not guarantee a seat in any colleges. What is minimum marks for Counselling in NEET 2025?

How to get a refund of NEET counselling fee?

1) Refunds have been sent to same account / card of candidate from where the security deposit was paid

2) The refund amount will be credited to the candidate's account between 1 to 15 days depending upon candidate's bank

What is the NEET Counselling Refund Policy?

Below is the detailed explanation of refund policy for the candidates on the basis of each Round of counselling. Candidates are advised to go through it properly before going to the counselling process.

  1. Free Exit ( Full Refund):
  • This is only allowed in Round 1 for both AIQ and State quota
  • If a candidate is allotted a seat in Round 1 and the candidate decides not to join, then candidates will get full refund.
  1. Exit with deduction of fees:
    • From Round 2 onwards, if a seat is allotted and the candidate does not join, the registration fee is deducted.
    • Example: If you are allotted a seat in AIQ Round II and do not report to the college, the refundable amount (₹10,000 or ₹2,00,000) will not be returned.

3. Ineligible for Further Counselling:

Ans. To apply for NEET counselling, candidates must log on to the respective state quota counselling authority or NMC and follow the steps listed below.

  • Register for NEET counselling using details like email ID, mobile number, and password.
  • Log in to the respective NEET counselling portals and fill out the NEET counselling application form using personal, academic, and other NEET 2025-related information.
  • Upload all the relevant documents required for NEET counselling 2025.
  • Pay the NEET 2025 counselling fee as prescribed by the respective NEET counselling authorities and submit the NEET counselling application form.

Ans. NEET 2025 counseling dates are yet to be released by NMC and the respective state medical Counseling authorities. Last year, the NEET UG Counseling 2025 was conducted from 14 August 2024 onwards. Students can expect NEET counseling to be conducted in the last week of August this year.

  • For 85% of state quota seats, the NEET Counseling 2025 will be conducted by various state medical Counseling authorities across the country.
  • Some of the state counseling authorities for NEET Counseling 2025 include Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), AMRUHS Himachal Pradesh, JKBOPEE J&K, JCECEB Jharkhand, NTRUSH Andhra Pradesh, KNRUHS Telangana, etc.

Ques. What is the fee for NEET Counseling?

Ans. The NEET counseling fee is different for different categories and quota. As per the NEET Counseling fee for last year, the NEET Counseling fee is expected to range from 500 to 5000 for different categories and quota.

  • For 15% AIQ, the NEET Counseling fee is INR 1,000 for UR category for government colleges. However, for reserved categories, the NEET counseling fee is expected to be INR 500. For deemed universities, the AIQ NEET counseling fee is INR 5000.
  • The NEET counseling fee for the state quota is INR 500 for general category candidates and INR 250 for reserved category candidates. However, the NEET counseling fee for the state quota for deemed universities is INR 2000 for the general category and INR 1000 for reserved category candidates.

Ques. Which rank is considered in NEET counseling?

Ans. To participate in NEET counseling 2025, candidates must have secured a rank below the NEET qualifying rank 2025 or score marks above the NEET qualifying marks 2025.

  • For NEET counseling 2025, candidates belonging to the general or EWS category must score in the range 686-144 to participate in NEET counseling 2025.
  • Candidates belonging to the OBC/SC/ST category must score 143-113 to participate in NEET Counseling 2025.
  • PWD candidates belonging to the UR category require NEET qualifying marks of 143-127 for participation in NEET Counseling 2025. And for PWD candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC category, the NEET qualifying marks are 126-113.

Ans. Minimum marks for Counseling in NEET are the scores that students must score in NEET 2025 to participate in NEET Counseling 2025. NEET qualifying marks are different for different categories as mentioned below.

With 175 marks in NEET, it is not going to meet the cut-offs for the top medical colleges. However, you can check the list of institutes that will accept the said NEET score using the NEET College Predictor. Please enter NEET rank, category and state to generate the list of colleges.

NTA has not released the NEET 2022 Counseling dates yet. To particiapte in NEET Counseling you must register for the same. You can read on the eligibility, procedure, documents required as well as other information from NEET Counseling.

NEET AIQ Counselling is conducted in 3 rounds followed by a stray vacancy round for vacant seats. The NEET Counselling will be conducted by DGHS on behalf of MCC for AIQ seats.
