NEET Biology Exam Pattern 2024 is now released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The Exam pattern provides an understanding about the question paper. It provides insights about examination mode, number and type of questions, marking scheme, duration, etc.
NEET 2024 Exam Pattern has changed slightly this year. Now, the exam duration will be 200 minutes rather than 180 minutes. Also, the number of questions has been increased even though you have to attempt 45 questions in total each in Botany and Zoology. There is a sectional division in Biology; Botany and Zoology which is further bifurcated into two sections each. Section A and Section B.
Section A will consist of 35 compulsory questions and Section B will have 15 questions out of which you have to answer any 10 questions. Marking scheme is same as the previous year. Four marks will be awarded for each correct answer whereas one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The mode of examination is conventional pen-paper mode with OMR as response sheet.
NEET Biology 2024 is to be conducted in 13 languages. Maximum marks and questions are further discussed in the later section of this article.

NEET Biology Exam Pattern 2024 Marking Scheme
- As per NEET 2024 Biology Exam Pattern, there are 4 marks for each correct answer in NEET Biology Paper 2024.
- For marking an incorrect answer, -1 will be deducted as negative marking.
- Zero mark will be deducted for unattempted questions.
- Questions will contain 4 responses and marking more than one response in the OMR sheet will be taken as the wrong answer. So, -1 will be deducted as negative marking from the question.

NEET Biology Exam Pattern 2024 Passing Marks
NEET 2024 is a challenging examination for all the participating candidates. After analysis previous year results and trends, passing marks in NEET is mentioned in the table below:

Passing marks refers to the total marks by which you are eligible to participate in NEET 2024 counselling. There is variation in passing marks depending on the belonging category. Important Points for Marking the OMR Sheet
You must check the below-mentioned points before filling the NEET 2024 OMR Sheet:
- All the responses need to be marked by using only the ballpoint pen that will be given in the exam hall on the day of the exam.
- Changing answers on the OMR sheet is not allowed.
- If you remove any responses from the OMR sheet, it will be considered an offence.
- You can only do the rough work on the test booklet that will be given by the examiner in the exam hall.
- You must not forget to mark the test booklet code on the OMR sheet.
Important Instructions For Candidates
- On the day of the entrance test, the NEET Admit Card needs to be carried out and presented to the exam centre for verification purposes. The admit card must be carried along with one original and valid photo identification proof like Aadhar Card, Passport, College ID, PAN Card, Driver’s License, Voter ID, or Employer ID.
- On NEET exam day, neither Beverages nor any food items will be allowed inside the exam hall. Only those candidates who are suffering from any illness can carry their medicine inside the exam hall.
- NEET Admit Card will be considered valid when both the signature and the photograph of the candidate will be clearly visible.
- You must report to the venue of examination 60 minutes before the scheduled time of examination.
- You can take the entrance test when their credentials are verified by the concerned authority of the exam centre.
- Candidates who will appear in the entrance exam need to ensure that the test booklet will contain the same number of pages as mentioned on the cover of the test booklet.
