The NTA has release the NEET Merit list 2025 on 14 June 2025 with the release of NEET Result 2025 on the official website - neet.nta.nic.in. The candidates can download the NEET merit list 2025 by using their application number, DOB, and security pin. Your rank in the merit list is the determining factor for NEET Counselling 2025, the registration for which starts on July 21, 2025.

The NTA releases 3 types of NEET Merit list, i.e, All India Rank(AIR), 15% All India Quota (AIQ), and 85% State Quota.

  • All India Merit List: This list will include the ranks of all candidates who appeared for the NEET UG 2025 exam, irrespective of their category.
  • All India Quota (AIQ) Merit List: For 15% of the total seats under the AIQ.
  • State-wise Merit Lists: The Merit list is prepared by individual state-wise authorities for 85% of seats, for the respective domicile candidates.

In NEET 2025, the total number of MBBS seats is expected to increase to 1,06,930 from 51,348 seats in 2014, resulting in a growth of approximately 108%.

What is the merit list for NEET?

It is a list of the candidates who have appeared for the NEET 2025 for undergraduate courses like MBBS, BDS, and other medical colleges. The merit list ranks the candidates based on their performance in the NEET 2025 exam, The list is prepared for the different categories and quotas as per the NEET marks scored by the candidate.

NEET Cutoff 2025

The NEET cutoff 2025 will be released after the release of NEET Results 2025, which is expecetd on 14 June 2025. The NEET Cutoff 2025 differs across the different categories.

How many marks are required in NEET for the merit list?

  • For General (UR) candidates, the expected cutoff is at the 50th percentile, with a score range of 162-720, reflecting the highest percentile.
  • Whereas, the reserved categories like OBC/SC/ST candidates will have the cutoff at the 40th percentile and scores ranging from 127 to 161.
  • The General PwD candidates are expected to have the cutoff at the 45th percentile, with a score range between 135 and 161.
  • The PwD candidates in SC/ST/OBC categories will have the cutoff at the 45th percentile, needing a score range of 120-134.

NEET Previous Year Merit List (2023-2021)

In NEET 2023, Over 20 lakh candidates registered, and 11 lakh qualified. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh were the top-ranked states, with the highest score being 720. With a high score of 715 and top rankings from Rajasthan, Delhi (NCT), and Karnataka, 18.72 lakh candidates registered for NEET 2022. In the NEET 2021, over 16 lakh candidates registered for the exam, which had a high score of 720 and top performers from Telangana and Delhi (NCT). In each of the three years, candidates with scores ranging from 715 to 720 received the highest rankings.

NEET Good Score 2025

A score range of 550-590 in the NEET 2025 exam is considered a good score, placing a candidate in the rank range of 5,000 – 15,000, providing the opportunity to get admission into state government colleges or semi-government institutions.

Types of NEET Merit List 2025

The NTA releases the NEET Merit lists in 3 types: All India Merit List (AIR), 15% All India Quota (AIQ) Merit List, and State-wise Merit Lists.

NEET Merit List Eligibility

Age Applicant must be atleast 17 years of age by December 31, 2025. There is no upper age limit for NEET 2025 as issued via an interim order of the supreme court.
Educational Qualification Must have studied Physics,Chemistry,Biology/Biotechnology as core subjects in Class XII.
Must have secured 50% marks in qualifying exam and NEET (General Category). 40% marks for OBC/SC/ST and General Physically Handicapped Category.
Candidates who are appearing for Class XII exam can also give NEET and will be admitted on a provisional basis.
Candidates who appeared boards as private students or come with distance learning background and have biology as an additional subject are also eligible to apply for the exam.
There is no age limit on the number of attempts for NEET. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they want.

How To Find Your State Merit List For NEET?

85% of the state quota seats are filled through separate counselling conducted by the state authorities respectivelym, while the Medical Counselling Committee carries out the counselling process for remaining 15% AIQ seats. Qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test with the minimum cuttoff percentile is necessary to be eligible for admission under the state quota seats.

All candidates interested to participate in the state level cousnelling need to fill the application form within the prescribed time frame. This is followed by document verification. Considering the registration received along with the verifications, a provisional state merit list for NEET 2024 is prepared. Can I Hide My Name And NEET Result From The State Merit List?

NEET Merit List consists of the roll number, name, and the marks obtained by all candidates who appeared for the exam. The purpose is to maintain transparency in the seat allotment process, meaning you cannot hide your name and Result from the state merit list. Both the NEET All India Merit List and State Merit List are available in the public domain, which anyone can access through State and MCC Counselling sites.

However, the accessibility of the NEET State merit list depends on the policy adopted by respective states. While in many states the merit list is available in the public domain and can be accessed by anyone, some states have adopted to limited access policy where you might be asked to register or provide a valid reason for accessing the merit list. Only a handful number of states offer the “opt-out option” where you can choose to exclude your name from being published in the public state merit list.

What is the tie-breaker process in NEET Merit List?

In case two or more candidates secure the same marks in NEET exam, the below mentioned tie-breaking strategy will be implemented for preparing the NEET All India Merit List 2024.

Note: In 2023, Age criteria, and the application form number were taken in concern but is replaced this year with new norms.

Candidates scoring higher marks in Biology will be given first priority
If the tie persists, the candidate who scored higher in chemistry will get the advantage
It the tie does not break, the candidate score more in Physics will be given priority
If the tie still exists, then the candidate with less number of attempted correct and incorrect answers will get the benefit and rank higher.
If the tie still continues, the candidate with less number of attempted correct and incorrect answers in Biology will be given advantage in the rank list.
If the tie still exists, the candidate with less number of attempted correct and incorrect answers in Chemistry will be given advantage in the rank list.
As a last resort, the candidate with less number of attempted correct and incorrect answers in Physics will get priority in the rank list.
