The NEET Merit List 2024 (revised) prepared considering the re-revised NEET UG Result has been released by the NTA on July 26, 2024. Your rank in the merit list is the determining factor for NEET Counselling 2024, the registration for which started on August 14. 

  • The merit list for 15% of All India Quota is released by the Medical Counselling Committee,
  • The remaining 85% comprising of state quota seats are all in central/deemed universities, AFMS or ESIC, JIPMER, and AIIMS institutes; which will be released by the relevant state authorities.

As per the revised NEET Merit List 2024, the number of NEET 2024 Toppers who score 720 have gone down from 61 to 17. Besides, the NEET Cut-off 2024 has also been reduced by 2 marks for all the categories.

NTA has published the NEET UG 2024 All India Merit List on their official website at neet.nta.ac.in. If you find your name on the merit list PDF, it means you are eligible to appear for counselling sessions. What Is The NEET 2024 Merit List Cut-Off And Percentile?

The revised NEET 2024 Cut-Off has been released along with NEET UG 2024 re-revised result, where the cut-off has been considerably reduced. Earlier, NTA released the NEET 2024 Cut-off list after the Supreme Court’s order on July 19, 2024. It is important to note that to find your name in the merit list, you must score equal to or more than the minimum required percentile. This percentile depends on your respective categories and is a deciding factor of your participation in the counselling process. NEET Merit List Types

How Many Types Of NEET Merit List Are There?

There are three types of NEET Merit List prepared, considering which counselling process is initiated.

Type of NEET Merit List 2024 Details
All India Merit List The AIR list is released by the NTA and consists of names of all candidates who took the NEET 2024 exam, and their rank numbers. This list is prepared taking in account the category of the candidate and their approach towards AIQ reservation.
All India Quota Merit List AIQ Merit list will feature the test takers selected for the AIQ 15% reservation. Candidates who wish to clain eligibility independently must submit the self declaration form online. A printed copy of the form and the confirmation page must be submitted at the time of counselling.
State Merit List The State Merit List is prepared by the State Medical Councils of the respective states for commencement of the counselling process to fill the seats available at medical colleges in the states. Factors like the domicile of the candidate is taken in concern while preparing this list. The state rank of the candidates will be determined on a comparative scale with the applicants from the same state.

Age Applicant must be atleast 17 years of age by December 31, 2024. There is no upper age limit for NEET 2024 as issued via an interim order of the supreme court.
Educational Qualification Must have studied Physics,Chemistry,Biology/Biotechnology as core subjects in Class XII.
Must have secured 50% marks in qualifying exam and NEET (General Category). 40% marks for OBC/SC/ST and General Physically Handicapped Category.
Candidates who are appearing for Class XII exam can also give NEET and will be admitted on a provisional basis.
Candidates who appeared boards as private students or come with distance learning background and have biology as an additional subject are also eligible to apply for the exam.
There is no age limit on the number of attempts for NEET. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they want.

Which State Has Highest Toppers In NEET 2024 ?

Considering the NEET 2024 revised Merit List, Rajasthan has got the maximum number of toppers, estimated to be 4. This is followed by Maharashtra with 3 toppers, and Delhi with 2 toppers. Bihar, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Chandigarh have one topper each. 

As per the initial NEET Merit list 2024 released by NTA, Bengaluru urban in Karnataka had the highest number of NEET toppers scoring within 600-720. Of 4,302 students who scored in this bracket;1,457 candidates are from Bengaluru Urban.

While another report highlighted that out of 24 lakh candidates who appeared for NEET 2024 UG exam; 2,317 candidates secured above 700 marks among which 20% or 482 candidates hailed from various test centers in Rajasthan. This analysis was conducted following the centre-wise result released by NTA on July 19 meeting the order issued by the apex court in the NEET UG Case hearing on July 18, 2024.

How To Find Your State Merit List For NEET?

85% of the state quota seats are filled through separate counselling conducted by the state authorities respectivelym, while the Medical Counselling Committee carries out the counselling process for remaining 15% AIQ seats. Qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test with the minimum cuttoff percentile is necessary to be eligible for admission under the state quota seats.

All candidates interested to participate in the state level cousnelling need to fill the application form within the prescribed time frame. This is followed by document verification. Considering the registration received along with the verifications, a provisional state merit list for NEET 2024 is prepared. Can I Hide My Name And NEET Result From The State Merit List?

NEET Merit List consists of the roll number, name, and the marks obtained by all candidates who appeared for the exam. The purpose is to maintain transparency in the seat allotment process, meaning you cannot hide your name and Result from the state merit list. Both the NEET All India Merit List and State Merit List are available in the public domain, which anyone can access through State and MCC Counselling sites.

However, the accessibility of the NEET State merit list depends on the policy adopted by respective states. While in many states the merit list is available in the public domain and can be accessed by anyone, some states have adopted to limited access policy where you might be asked to register or provide a valid reason for accessing the merit list. Only a handful number of states offer the “opt-out option” where you can choose to exclude your name from being published in the public state merit list.

What is the tie breaker process in NEET Merit List?

In case two or more candidates secure the same marks in NEET exam, the below mentioned tie-breaking strategy will be implemented for preparing the NEET All India Merit List 2024.

Note: In 2023, Age criteria, and the application form number were taken in concern but is replaced this year with new norms.

Candidates scoring higher marks in Biology will be given first priority
If the tie still persists, the candidate who scored higher in chemistry will get the advantage
It the tie does not break, candidate score more in Physics will be given priority
If the tie still exists, then the candidate with less number of attempted correct and incorrect answers will get the benefit and rank higher.
If the tie still continues, the candidate with less number of attempted correct and incorrect answers in Biology will be given advantage in the rank list.
If the tie still exists, the candidate with less number of attempted correct and incorrect answers in Chemistry will be given advantage in the rank list.
As a last resort, the candidate with less number of attempted correct and incorrect answers in Physics will get priority in the rank list.
