What is the cut off for NEET 2025 in Tamil Nadu? ( Category-wise Cutoff 2025 (State Quota))

The NEET UG 2025 result has been officially declared on 14th June, 2025. With this result out, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the category-wise qualifying cutoff marks and percentiles. This year's exam witnessed a dip in cutoff scores across all categories compared to NEET 2024. This may be due to a tough paper or altered normalization criteria. The below table shows the NEET 2025 cutoff for the Tamil Nadu state.

General and EWS Categories

The Tamil Nadu NEET cutoff 2025 for General and EWS category is 686 to 144. The lower cut-off of 144 is comparatively lesser than the NEET 2024 score, which is 162. This indicates a drop in minimum qualifying scores. A 12 to 18 mark drop indicates normalization due to difficulty in paper and evolving trends in the scores.

Reserved Categories

The reserved categories like OBC, ST and SC have a similar cut-off range between 143 to 113 marks with the 40th percentile. The following cut-offs are down from 127 in 2024 to 113 marks in 2025. This is due to the relaxation in the minimum qualifying criteria for all the reserved categories due to exam difficulty.

PwD Categories

For candidates in UR, EWS, and PwD categories, the cut-off range is 143 to 127 which is around the 45th percentile. This cut-off range is also lower as compared to last year's cutoff.

Candidates from (OBC, SC, and St) PwD backgrounds, can expect a lower cut-off score of 126 to 113, which is similar to the 40th percentile. This indicates down by around 14-16 marks as compared to 2024 years cutoff.

Category NEET Cutoff Score (2025) Percentile
General (Open) 686-144 50th
OBC 143-113 40th
EWS 686-144 50th
SC 143-113 40th
ST 143-113 40th
UR/EWS-PwD 143-127 45th
OBC/SC/ST-PwD 126-113 40th

A significant drop in the cut-off scores of all categories represents either a more difficult exam or a changing trend in normalization criteria. This drop in marks can help the candidates with borderline marks. It can increase the chances of candidates eligible for state-level counseling, especially in reserved and PwD categories.

However, candidates should remember that only qualifying in the exam does not guarantee admission. College-level cut-offs, majorly for MBBS government colleges, will be high and extremely competitive to crack.

Category Group Cutoff Drop compared to 2024
General /EWS Down by around 18 Marks
OBC/SC/ST Down by around 14 marks
PwD ( All Categories) Down by around 14-16 marks

Can I get MBBS seat with 400 marks in NEET in Tamil Nadu?

It is difficult to get a MBBS seat with 400 marks in NEET in Tamil Nadu in general category because the General category had the highest closing rank of 604 in 2024, and the rank range of the last admissions were in the 12,000-15,000 rank bracket. The candidates who want to get government MBBS seats under the General category must have at least 600+ marks in order to be within a competitive rank bracket.

Is 430 a good score in NEET 2025 in Tamil Nadu?

A NEET score of 430 is considered to be a good score but it does not guarantee that the candidate will get a seat in top government colleges. For example,in 2024, the BC category rank closed at 590, with ranks ranging from 15,000 to 18,000. As there are a large number of BC candidates in Tamil Nadu, candidates need to score 580-600 marks to have a better chane in 2025.

Can I get MBBS with 470 marks in Tamil Nadu?

With 470 marks, your chances of getting MBBS colleges is very less even if you are from SC category. Because the lowest admitted score for SC category candidates in 2024 was 478, and closing ranks ranged from 65,000 to 78,000. Targeting a score of 475 or higher could provide good chances of admission under the state quota.
