Candidates who have passed class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks or whose results are awaited are eligible to appear for NEET 2024. As per the revised NEET Eligibility Criteria 2024, if you have studied Biology as an additional subject in your classes 11 and 12, then you are still eligible to appear for the exam.
As mentioned in the official brochure, NEET age limit for OBC, General, and other categories is the same. Candidates must be 17 years of age at the time of admission or must complete 17 years on or before December 31 of the same year in which he/she is taking the admission. However, there is no max age limit for NEET.
Citizens of India or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who wish to pursue UG medical courses in foreign institutes also need to qualify for NEET UG exam.

NEET Eligibility 2024: What is 12th Percentage Required for NEET?
Only candidates who have passed or appeared/appearing for class 12 or equivalent exams with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-Technology, and English subjects are eligible for NEET 2024.
- General category candidates must have passed class 12 in the required subjects with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
- Candidates from EWS quota in General category also need to score at least 50% marks in their class 12.
- The qualifying marks for candidates from SC, ST, OBC NCL, and PwD categories are 40% instead of 50%.
- As per the recent update, you can also appear for NEET 2024 if you opted for Biology or Bio-Technology as an additional subject in Class 12.
- Candidates from recognized open school boards are also now eligible for NEET.
- Candidates awaiting their class 12 results can take the exam but their final admission will be subject to qualifying the exam with the required minimum marks.
- If a candidate has completed his/her class 12 from abroad and wishes to take admission to medical colleges in India, then he/she must have passed class 12 with 50% marks and their equivalency will be determined by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
You must note that the qualifying marks are considered taken Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-Technology, and English subjects only. The marks obtained in Mathematics are not considered for admission to medical courses.

Can a PCM Student Give NEET in 2024?
Yes, as per the provisions made in NEET UG 2024 Eligibility Criteria with respect to orders from the High Court, PCM students with Biology as an additional subject in Class 12 can appear for NEET 2024.
NEET 2024 Age Limit
NTA has specified the age limit criteria for NEET 2024 on its official website. The following are the criteria for NEET exam age limit.
- The candidate must be 17 years of age at the time of admission or must have completed this age on or before December 31 of the same year.
- This specifies that candidates who are born on or before December 31, 2007, are eligible for NEET 2024 exam.
- There is no maximum age limit for NEET exam.
Note: NEET age limit for OBC and NEET age limit for General category are the same.
NEET Attempt Limit
NEET is now the only exam for admission to all the government and private medical colleges in India. Therefore, there is no restricted NEET Attempt Limit imposed by NTA. A limit of a maximum of 3 attempts was earlier introduced for NEET in 2017, however, the criteria was removed from the following year.
You can appear for NEET exam any number of times provided that you are a minimum of 17 years of age and fulfill the educational requirement.
- NEET exam is conducted on a single day and serves as a common entrance exam for admission to all medical colleges.
- In 2013, NEET replaced AIPMT and other state-level medical entrance exams, and then in 2020, the separate entrance exams of AIIMS and JIPMER were also discontinued.

NEET Eligibility Criteria for NRI/OCI/Foreign Nationals
NRI, OCI, and Foreign National candidates can take admission to medical colleges through NEET if they meet the eligibility criteria as set by respective State Government, Institutions, and Government of India.
- While filling out application form for NEET, NRI and OCI candidates have to upload a supporting certificate from the Indian Diplomatic Mission in their respective country of residence.
- The certificate shall also be retained during NEET 2024 Counselling process and admission. Likewise, foreign nationals also need to submit their proof of their citizenship (valid passport or certificate).
Is NEET Eligibility Criteria 2024 Different for MBBS and BDS?
No, the basic eligibility criteria for NEET remains the same for MBBS and BDS. Aspirant must have passed class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks for general category and 40% for the SC, ST, OBC NCL, and PwD categories. The aggregate marks shall be calculated for Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.
However, your admission to MBBS and BDS programs is done based on the marks obtained by you in the exam and NEET 2024 Cut off of respective colleges.
Based on your NEET 2024 scores, you will be eligible to admission 1,06,333 MBBS, 27,868 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, and 603 BVSc and AH seats.

NEET Eligibility Criteria 2024: 15% All India Quota Seats
Candidates qualifying NEET 2024 exam can apply for 15% All India Quota Seats and 100% seats in Deemed and Central Universities, ESIC, and AFMC colleges. The counselling for admission to these seats is conducted at All India Level by the authorities.
- Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir can apply for 15% All India Quota Seats only after submitting a self-declaration form. Such candidates cannot apply for home state counselling.
- Only candidates who have completed their class 10 and 12 from Delhi are eligible for 85% seats in DU.
- The institutional quota seats of AMU is for AMU students only.

NEET Eligibility Criteria 2024: 85% State Quota Seats
The 85% state quota seats applies to all the government colleges of states and union territories.
- The counselling for admission on these seats is conducted at the state level.
- To be eligible for 85% state quota seats, candidates must fulfill NEET eligibility requirement of the respective state including their domicile requirements.
- Only candidates who did their 10th and 12th from the respective state can apply for state quota seats.
- The eligibility criteria for admission to private colleges seats under this quota is also decided at the state level by the respective state authorities.

Yes, students who have passed their Class XII examination from NIOS are eligible to register and take NEET. They must have passed the examination with PCB subjects and a minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
If you have passed Class XII examination from a recognized board taking PCB subjects and score at least 50% marks in aggregate, you are eligible to register and take NEET. The registration process for NEET 2023 is expected to start in the month of April 2023.
