As per the latest NEET notification released by NTA, the exam pattern for NEET 2025 has undergone significant changes. Candidates will now have to attempt a total of 180 questions in 180 minutes, with no provision for optional questions. The exam will cover Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). There will be 45-45 questions in Physics and Chemistry and 90 questions in Biology (Equally divided into Zoology and Botany).

NEET is the mandatory entrance test for admission into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses in India. This year, over 20 lakh aspirants are expected to apply for the exam. Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria, including a minimum age of 17 years and having completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects.

NEET 2025 Information Bulletin (TBA)

Although the official notice for the application process and date of examination has not been announced by NTA, it is expected to be started in February and the exam is likely to be conducted on 4 May, 2025 respectively in pen-and-paper OMR-based format across various exam centers in India and abroad in a single day in a single shift.

"Candidates are advised to update their credentials in Aadhaar, preferably as per their 10th Marksheet/Passing Certificate. Also, ensure your Aadhaar is linked with a valid mobile number for OTP-based authentication."

NEET Notification: Mode of Examination

NEET 2025 will be conducted in an offline, pen-and-paper format. The test will utilize the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) system, where candidates will mark their answers on an OMR sheet using a blue or black ballpoint pen.

The exam will be conducted single day in a single shift.

NEET 2025 Exam Pattern

The NEET 2025 exam pattern has been revised to align with the pre-COVID time format. The optional questions have been removed, reducing the total number of questions to 180, down from 200. Additionally, the exam duration has been shortened to 180 minutes, meaning the NEET 2025 exam will now be conducted over three hours instead of three hours and 20 minutes. It is expected that the marking scheme will remain unchanged from the previous year.

NEET 2025: Medium of the Exam

NEET 2025 will be conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Urdu, and regional languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Assamese, Punjabi, Odia, and Malayalam.

Guidelines for Selecting the Medium of the Question Paper

The medium of the question paper must be selected while filling out the NEET application form online, and this option cannot be changed later under any circumstances.

Medium Options for NEET 2025:

  • English: Candidates choosing English as the medium will receive the question paper in English only.
  • Hindi: Candidates opting for Hindi will receive a bilingual question paper in English and Hindi.
  • Regional Languages: Candidates selecting a regional language will receive a bilingual question paper in English and their chosen regional language.
    • Example: A candidate selecting Tamil will receive the question paper in English + Tamil.

Important Notes on Translation and Discrepancies:

  • Decisions made by the NTA regarding translation-related issues will be considered final and binding on all candidates.

NEET Notification: Regarding APAAR ID

For the 2025 examination, NTA has introduced the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID, aimed at streamlining the registration and examination process. Yes, you can apply for NEET 2025 if you were born in 2008, provided you turn 17 years old on or before December 31, 2025. The minimum age requirement for NEET is 17 years, and there is no upper age limit for the exam.

For example:

  • If your birthdate is January 1, 2008, you will not be eligible for NEET 2025.
  • If your birthdate is December 31, 2008, you will be eligible.

The NEET 2024 notification was released on February 9, 2024. So for NEET 2025, you can expect the release around February.
