Is 6.7 CGPA good for 1st semester at IIT Kharagpur?

I suggest you not to score below 6.5 as CGPA 7 is a must to get admission in a good foreign university. However with a CGPA of 6.5 you can go for Government jobs. I know a friend who did not focus on CGPA and played football and today is struggling to get a good job. It is all the more difficult to get a good CGPA after low marks in the first semester because the professors evaluate you on the basis of previous grades sometimes. However, you will get placement into a decent private company so you don’t have to worry much. Basically, even after getting admission at a good institute like IIT KGP, you have to keep struggling to score high marks.

Dislikes

The mess food is extremely poor with no proper nutrition charts. Being the best in the country we expected more from our college. Also the internet connection is not up to the mark even though it stays online for most of the time it's still problema.

Admission:

Getting into an IIT is one of the toughest parts. In order to gain admission into IIT Kharagpur you need to crack first the JEE mains by scoring at least above 91 percentile which changes from year to year to be a eligible for JEE advanced. Then you will have to clear the cutoff of JEE advanced and then secure a good rank in order to get a decent branch in IIT Kharagpur which is a primary IIT and among global 100 engineering institutes on the planet. Yes, there is reservations in our admission process both for economically weaker sections as well as backward classes. Also, special reservation seats are there for female students. If you are a female then you will find it a bit easier to get a seat but still, you will have to work hard. A rank under 5000 would secure you are decent branch at our college. Although a rank under 15000 would definitely make you eligible to get a chance here. I don't see any area of improvement here as JEE advanced is the reason for the Elite quality of iit's.

Everything is easily available in the campus. The infrastructure is well planned with comfortable classrooms equipped with AC, projetor

One might experience difficulties in the beginning as there is problems with hostel allocation and also the hostels are not very good.
The pressure is huge as compared to other institutes. Therefore it is suggested to manage it from the beginning.

For the course, one must have a bachelor of science degree in physics and must have a CGPA over 6. They need to appear for a joint entrance test for MSc (JAM) conducted by various IIT and IISc. This examination is conducted in the 2nd week of February every year. The forms of the examination are released in October every year. The application fee is around 1800. The exam is conducted once every year and it the difficulty level is a bit greater than average. It requires a preparation of around 6-8 months to qualify with good marks. For the entrance, there is all possible reservations allowed by the government of India such as OBC, EWS, SC/ST, PWD, etc.

As it's an IIT, you will find the best peer group you could ever imagine.

Early morning classes, which are from 8 am.
Not so great mess food in some halls which is really problematic.

You've to Qualify JEE ADVANCED to get into IIT Kharagpur. For Chemical Engineering you need a rank < 6000 in the exam. It's not an easy exam out of 1200000 JEE main Test takers only 8000 get an good IIT.

I liked the campus environment and festivals celebrated their.
I liked that various activities goes on every week from any one of the society

Sometimes the teaching I can't understand they just move the slides
There are societies to participate but initially they ask for lot of skill rather than teach the skill

Eligibility for this course is through jee advanced exam. After which we have to go through a josaa counselling part where we select the colleges and we get one according to our rank. The reservation plays a very vital role to get into one course. After this we get a link portal of college ERP. This portal should be improved that is the only drawback.

There is nothing much to explore outside the campus in small radius
No shopping Malls in reach , like we need to travel to Kolkata

For this course you have to clear JEE Advanced paper conducted every year. Application form will be available on Josaa website. Jossa conducts various rounds of admission and you have to freeze, float your options with you filled in course section.

Campus of IIT - KGP is literally insane. IIT KGP has the largest campus with 2200 acres any college Indian ever has.

Nothing, i like everything about this college.

To get admission in this course firstly we need to secure atleast 75% in our respective boards and then we have to clear JEE Mains exam with a better percentile to appear in JEE Advanced exam then we have to clear it with a good marks.

Keeping the ROI in mind, and in terms of placement, alumni network, etc B.tech CSE is the best branch amongst all at IIT KGP, however if you are getting admission to any other branch too during counselling, you can opt for branch change which will depend on your CG in the first year and also the availability of seats in the target branch.
