Some courses are pretty outdated and not in use such as the 8085 microprocessor. The elective subjects are few in number due to less number of faculty offering electives, but this number is increasing now due to our new campus and new faculties.

The course i am doing (Electronics and Communication )is of 4 years. I chose this path so that i can do both the things , electronics and programming. The curriculum focuses entirely on practical stuff
The curriculum of the college was recently updated and follows the late industrial developments. The curriculum is designed to provide us with complete engineering knowledge but a little bit of management knowledge is also included. The faculty of the college has completed their PhD program from the top college of India. The faculty is the one that helps us to understand all the complex concepts in an easy way. The faculty has very good research experience.
For me it's expensive because financial condition of our family is not that good and for other general category people also it's a bit expensive. They have to opt for an education loan for this thing.Otherwise they have to face a lot.Every six months we need to pay almost 70000 for new semester.
Fee structure is as follows For general and OBC category - around 2lacs (1 year) For ST, SC and PWD around 80k (1 year) There is also a scheme for ST and SC category students in which the government provide full fee redemption plus extra money for laptop and books top 10 students of respective category. As I am a general category student I feel that the fees for general category students is a bit on a expensive side and there is no scholarship facility to meritorious students.
However it is not expensive as compared to private institutions. The fee structure is as follows. Tuition fee(SC/ST Students are exempted). I SEM Rs.45000 II and IV SEM Rs.35000 VI AND VIII SEM Rs.17500 and so on. Other fees for institute development Rs 4000
Among these two courses and colleges, you should probably choose EEE at NITK. Having to know some people studying in both these institutes, I can say that the infrastructure and facilities provided at NIT Goa are very poor, it is also below NITK in terms of rankings.
Categories | EEE at NIT Surathkal |
Course Fee | 5.40 lakh |
Highest CTC | 14-15 LPA |
Average CTC | 8-9 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, nVidia, Western Digital, etc. |
Hence, choosing EEE at NITK will be a better option as the faculty, infrastructure, and placements of this college is great and there is also a very good scope of higher studies.
I have cousins from both NIT Goa, and Jamia Millia Islamia and as they mention, the latter is famous for its CSE course. Usually, students do not leave the opportunity to go for the CSE course of Jamia Millia Islamia.
Categories | ECE at NIT Goa | CSE at Jamia Millia Islamia |
Course Fee | 5.38 lakh | 64,600 |
Highest CTC | 13 LPA | 20 LPA |
Average CTC | 6.5 LPA | 8-10 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | L&T, Microsoft, Siemens, Infosys, etc. | TCS, Wipro, Adobe, Cognizant, etc. |
Apart from these few, it depends upon how hard you work. Be it ECE or CSE, you have to work hard and utilize the time and opportunities you get while studying in college.
It is suggested that you choose the institute that is in close proximity to your location, since both the institutes are rather tier-3 Indian Engineering Colleges.
In any case, nobody can apparently have access to the actual placement report of either institute because most of them generally spike their records for unjust purposes. Yet, here is a detailed placement statistics, as is claimed by the institutes in general.
Categories | Goa Engineering College | NIT, Goa |
Highest Salary package | INR. 12 LPA | INR. 15.9 LPA |
Average Salary Package | INR. 4 LPA | INR. 7.35 LPA |
Top Recruiting Companies | Siemens, Crompton, TCS, Accenture, Spark+, Impact Analytics | Samsung R&D, HFCL, Saankhya labs, Unisys, ZS Associates, Impact Analytics |
Indian students generally should enroll at colleges near to their residence. And later start to impel the administration to offer basic amenities, if any missing, thereby gradually incrementing the possibility of them obtaining industry relevant skills. Your placements and overall college life has to provide you with the necessary facilities, only then you can grow as an individual.
