About GEC
Goa College of Engineering, Goa commonly known as GEC was established in 1967 mainly for providing technical education in the field of Engineering. Currently, the college offers UG in 7 streams of B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering), PG in 9 streams of M.E. (Master of Engineering), and 5 streams in Ph.D.

Goa College of Engineering Admission
It offers admission to B.E under UG and M.E under PG along with Ph.D. courses. Admissions in Goa college of engineering is based on cut-off obtained in GCET for B.E & GATE for M.E. respectively. Students are required to obtain a minimum of certain % aggregate marks in the 10+2 to become eligible for admission in B.E & complete UG course for M.E. For Ph.D., PG will be required. Additionally, seats for SC/ ST/ OBC category are reserved in all UG courses as per guidelines of Government of Goa.

- Library- Goa College of Engineering has its own library which contains all kinds of books for students. The college library is fully computerized which can accommodate more than 300 students at a time. The library currently holds 87,000+ books, magazines, and journals.
- Computing Centre- Goa College of Engineering has computing centre with more than 80 functional PCs in line to the computational and technological needs of the students. The entire campus is connected by the fibre-optic network through wireless networks.
- Cafeteria- The college has a spacious cafeteria catering to nutritional requirement of students at an affordable price.
- Auditorium- Goa College of Engineering has an auditorium which is used for organising various inter and intra college events, activities and seminars.

- In our college, we have a B.Tech course and it is autonomous, so it follows its own rules and regulations. In our college, 60% of the work is focused on practical learning.
- Talking about placements, almost all of my batch mates have been placed in good companies with a good salary package.

- It does not specifically provide internships, but one internship is compulsory for all students.
- Students below a pre-defined poverty line can apply for a scholarship. If approved, they are only required to pay 50% of their fees. Additionally, there are tuition fee waiver schemes available for the very poor students

- The location of our campus is at hilly area which is in Ponda, Farmagudi. The view over here is excellent and talking about the campus its beautiful as it is surrounded by nature . The size of all the department is descent and very great place too.
- The second thing i like is that is our library which is the second largest library in goa after goa University. So any one who needs latest books or wants to prepare for the exams and even for those who love reading stuffs .
Dislikes
- The first thing i dislike is the syllabus, you are provided with the old regular portion . No latest technologies are thought. Its a like studying one day before exam and passing and no knowledge stuff that u need to survive in this era of ai
- Second thing is practical knowledge. No one cares about your practicals here, you are just given the problem statement and u have start implementing it. We are never thought why is it important or how to improve it.
Admission:
To enter in Gec one needs to get past through a entrance test thats GCET and if your rank is in 200 you are getting the IT and CS branch easily. The one who doesn't have any reservation should try to get his rank in top 500 to 600 , but for those who have reservations can get in with even a rank of 1000. But currently there will be no more GCET no the students will be taken on the basis of JEE mains exam.

- Some basic facilities in hostels were not good. Also sometimes street lights did not use to work.
Admission:
Admission process was quite smooth and transparent. Everything was managed really well. I had to answer Goa Common Entrance Test in order to get into Technical colleges. Exam is competitive though there are no negative marks.

Our admission was based on the marks we scored in gcet exam and on the basis of the ranking we were allocated our respective streams the whole process was very convinient and some part of it was online which made the registration even smoother

- Placements are good for CS/IT , almost 70% people got placed even in this recession, packages range from 3-10Lpa
- Less academic pressure so you can focus on ur other technical skills

- Almost none opportunities for other than cs,it PPL wrt placements
- Hostels are not that good , washrooms are not maintained properly being my reason not to stay at hostels

Admission:
During our time, we had gcet exam and the ranking to get admission in IT should be less than 500 atleast. It can vary. Some students might prefer private colleges, some might prefer GEC, depends student to student. There are seats available for reservation category also. Now I guess everyone has to answer jee exam and it depends on their percentile which Idk the requirements. As per exams, each sem has 3 internal tests(25 marks each) out of which 2 should be answered compulsorily and the passing mark is 10( taking avg of the best 2 answered IT marks). After that, we have assignments to submit as internal assessments. Also at the end of the sem we have a sem exam of 100 marks and the min passing marks are 40. If we have scored less than 10 in ITs then we have to compensate during semesters or else the student gets a back. If a student gets back for 4 times or the student has current back in more than 6 subjects then they get a block (repeating the year). Practical exams are after sem exam.

The eligibility of the course is you should have taken physics chemistry and mathematics in 12th standard and I to give the GCET exam. there are reservation benefits available. exam is very easy to clear and you can easily pass it and take the admission in the desired course.

- It's a really good college it's a widespread area and college campus is great even the classes are good all the labs are also very good with air conditioner

- The electricity supply is not good specially in summers there's no current on a regular basis but not for long time to be honest

I had answered GCET exam and then as per the eligibility list there were rounds of admission then I had to visit the college to pay the fees but now the GCET exam has been cancelled and the admission is based on a students JEE MAIN exam score

Yes, admission for the courses is done on the basis of merit & cut-off in the Entrance exams. For B.E., one has to qualify for the GCET (Goa Common Entrance Test) entrance, and for M.E., one has to qualify for GATE.
You can not take admission now as the admissions are over for the 2023 session for UG and PG courses.
Yes, Computer Science Engineering is offered in Goa College of Engineering under B.Tech. The total fee of the course is 2,33,500. The first-year fee is INR 59,500. The second, third and fourth-year fees are the same INR 58,000.
Goa College of Engineering does not offer a Mining branch to the students. Instead of this, the college offers various other specialisations such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology.
