Honest Review - NIT, Goa

Remarks :

Only drawback in this college is the lack of our permenant campus. Rest of the part is I think we have very good like Very good seniors Great professor As the college is small we can interact with everyone, so naturally it creates a great bonding.

Course Curriculum Overview :

There is credit base course system in which we earn credits for every 1hr class lecture and 2 credits for each 3hr lab class. We have a total of 8 semester of 4 months each which are as follows 1. Odd semester - (aug-nov) After that we have 1 month winter break. 2. Even semester - (jan-apr) After that we have 1 month winter break. Course Curriculum is good as we have subjects like physics, chemistry, mathematics, material sciences, mechanics, CS in first year to make students know branch is for their betterment. We can also upgrade our branch (based on seat availability and your CGPA). From 2nd year onwards they only study branch specific subjects. EXAM PATTERN: There 3 minor exams and 2 major exam(Mid-sem and End-sem) Best thing is that we have relative grading. This grading depends upon Topper's marks and not on Maximum marks

Placement Experience :

Placements statistics are increasing every year BTW the avg placement of ECE is around 6 lpa where as 7.5 lpa. The visit from core companies in our college is very less as compared to tech companies that's why EEE students struggle during placements. Yes our college also provide internship to 3rd year students. For example last month one company name Vehant technologies visit our college for hiring interns and they are also providing a whopping of 25k stipend.

College Events :

There are many cultural events but the the major is Saavyas(annual techno-cultural) fest in mont of February. Other than Saavyas there are other events like Hindi-Saptah, Dandiya Nights, traditional day celebration, Unity run etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure is as follows For general and OBC category - around 2lacs (1 year) For ST, SC and PWD around 80k (1 year) There is also a scheme for ST and SC category students in which the government provide full fee redemption plus extra money for laptop and books top 10 students of respective category. As I am a general category student I feel that the fees for general category students is a bit on a expensive side and there is no scholarship facility to meritorious students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is also a scheme for ST and SC category students in which the government provide full fee redemption plus extra money for laptop and books top 10 students of respective category. Their is no scholarship provided to meritorious students by college so you have to apply on other schemes for scholarships. Yeah, we can avail loan facility.

Campus Life :

Our college lags behind in this area as we don't have our permenant campus and also the strength of students of our college is less that's why we have very less cultural clubs in our college. Same in case of sports as we lag our permenant campus. BTW college did their best to provide us good lab facilities. They just inaugurated Cad-cam lab and we also have good CS, Physics and chemistry lab.

Alumni/Alumna :

As a freshman I don't know my alumni but seniors here are best part in our hostel. They treat us like their younger brother and they are always ready to help. There is no scene of ragging in our college.

Admission :

For admission in any of the NIT we have to give JEE Mains exam, after the announcement of the result we have to register on JOSAA for seat allotment. BTW My JEE Mains percentile is 98.2 that's why I got decent branch (ECE).

Faculty :

Best Part of the college is faculties itself. All the faculties are Ph.D scholars. Most of them have done their post-graduation from IISc Bangalore or from IITs, so faculties are the backbone of our college.

Placement Experience:

Final students are eligible for placements. Companies such as turtle mint, findem, Nokia, IFB, Samsung, Adani power, HDFC Bank, Tesco, Upskill, ONGC, Jio, and many more. Last year almost everyone got placed. Average package is 10 LPA. This year though placements were not as expected because of economic depression. Even after the placements, lay offs have become common. Hence to cope up with the competition we need to keep upskilling.

The placements have been quite decent and have had 100% placements in the past. The average comes to be a bit average but the highest package so far might be above 44LPA. The main branchea company hire students from are CSE ECE and EEE. The number of students getting placed from CSE and ECE are very good and have good salary packages around 10LPA

Placement Experience:

IIT Goa offers campus placements to its students. Students become eligible for campus placements in their final year of study, i.e., in the 7th or 8th semester. Several reputed companies visit IIT Goa for campus placements, including Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Power, etc. Higher placements offer is of 1.2cr and average placement offers are16-25 lac per annum. The percentage of students getting placed during campus placements at IIT Goa is quite high, with around 90% of students getting placed every year. The remaining students generally opt for higher studies or pursue entrepreneurship. In case no campus placement is offered, students can explore other options for employability, such as applying for jobs through job portals, professional networking sites, or by directly contacting companies. They can also consider pursuing higher education or research in their field of interest or starting their own business.
