The admiission into IITs is not too easy, one has to clear JEE ADVANCE exam witha commendable rank to get into the college. Eligibility: 1- Passed class 12th PCM with 75% or above. 2-cleared JEE ADVANCE exam with above cutoff rank for the course. For Civil Engineering IIT BOMBAY, the cutoff rank this year was 4300 for general category. However, the data differs for other categories as there are reservation for SC/ST, OBCs and female categories. The exam level difficulty is much high making it one of the toughest exams of the world, but with regular study and practice the exam can be cracked. The exam journey starts from clearing JEE MAINS(whhich occurs two times ina year- Jan and April) and those who cleared the MAINS exam get chance to sit for JEE ADVANCE (once in a year).

To be eligible for the course one need to score above 75% in 12th after that only you are eligible to apply for the exam. To get admission in this institution one have to go through the selection procedure. The Selection procedure consists of 2 exams JEE mains and JEE advance. For JEE mains one can apply during november and give 1st session in january and apply in january and give 2nd session in march. Out of these two the one with highest percentile will be considered. If you clear the cut off then you will be eligible to give JEE advance and based on your rank you will be selected for the college. For JEE mains one need to pay the fee of 1000 for each session however if you are SC/ ST/ PwD/ Transgender you only need to pay 500. For JEE advance one pays 3200 where as females and SC/ST/PwD candidate need to pay 1600. Reserved candidates cutoff is also less than that for general and for SC/ ST tuition fee is also waived. JEE advance is harder than JEE mains.

For the course I have chosen the eligibility is to complete a graduation degree as I have enrolled in Masters program. To enter I have cracked a entrance exam called JAM. The application fees was 1500 rupees at my time and the application portal opens in between August to October. The exam happens once in a year and difficulty level is high as it opens the door for IITs. But personally didn't like the reservation system that there is no reservation for General candidates, we are unreserved and any other caste students can occupy our seat even if we have higher ranks than them.
Don’t be fixed upon a certain agenda and keep your options open. If you will restrict yourself in such a way you might limit your options as well as the capacity to give your best.
Instead, I suggest that you try to analyze why exactly you want to pursue Engineering. Is it because of the sheep mentality or do you really want to build things?
Once you are sure, then figure out how exactly you will be achieving this goal. Set achievable goals for yourself and work sincerely on fulfilling them. Reward yourself for very little achievement on the way. This will gradually increase your confidence and pave the way to achieve much more.
However, a very important thing is to dream but not demand. That is you should be passionate about a certain thing but not fixated on it too much to the extent that if you fail to achieve it, you lose much more. So you can desire to pursue BTech in CSE at IIT Bombay but leave room for other options as well.
Don’t stress yourself out too much and just concentrate on the present, your future will be visible sooner or later.

Procedure for applying to M.Tech Biomedical Engineering After MBBS
Written test and Interview
Once your application is selected, you will be called in for the Written Test and Interview. The written test is conducted in the morning and results will be declared in the afternoon. Your interview will be conducted only if you qualify for the written test.
For MBBS students, the written test is of Mathematics only The syllabus for this test is in accordance with that of 12th class CBSE.
Pattern: The test pattern comprises both objective and descriptive questions
Minimum Rank in AIPGE- This is extremely subjective as it depends on the applications received during that head. The cutoff is decided based on that only.
IIT Bombay cutoff is slightly lesser but the written test and interview is quite difficult.
One of my friends made it into IISc with a rank of 10. I enquired about the strategy he adopted to score such high marks. He told me about his 3 milestone theories and the things he achieved on the way. The final outcome is 75 marks in GATE which will help you get CSE in IIT Bombay.
1st Milestone: The first and foremost goal you should set is to achieve 25 marks in GATE. This can be done by working on some basic mathematics, aptitude, and core subjects. This can be done from
the college itself. Try to secure 25 marks in the final year on the first attempt and once you are done move to the second milestone.
2nd milestone: You have to achieve another 25 marks to make it 50. I suggest not taking a gap to prepare for this. This can be done over the 2 years after your graduation during which you can take up an IT job and increase your work experience. This will be useful during placements at IIT Bombay.
To achieve this milestone, read some more core mathematics, and cover 3–4 core subjects previous 25 marks revision. If you are able to secure 50 marks over the next couple of attempts, you don’t have to worry much as you can get admission in any IIT.
3rd milestone: If you want those additional 25 marks take help from some professionals and seniors.
My friend got a 10 rank after working on this strategy and he is working at Microsoft today.
The first step in the journey of getting a Ph.D. degree is giving either of these exams; GATE, NET, CSIR, or UGC. Next, you have to decide on a particular field in which you will be conducting your research. After this, you have to look for a faculty advisor that has experience in the kind of research work you are looking for. His teaching style should necessarily align with your learning style. Conduct extensive research on the topic you will be working on.
IIT Bombay: Here, you are required to do some coursework on the topic you have chosen. Choose the course that will give you more opportunities than others. Most Ph.D. students take some courses only to make up the required credits. This is not right as you will miss the opportunity to learn so much from every department. The most preferred courses are CS and Modelling at IIT Bombay.
One can even upgrade their skills in Mathematics and Statistics. Other courses that might help you in research work are fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, inorganic chemistry, solid-state physics, and thermodynamics.
Basically, you should choose your coursework not only for credits but to get knowledge of the research work you will be doing. Seek help from your advisor on the same.
