- Being admitted to VJTI college was a plus point for me, as it has one of the best faculty members who guide you in the best possible way.
- It was a good learning experience to have an industry internship. For the internship, the placement rate was almost 100% at that time. The stipend was 15000/- per month.
Dislikes
- Worst (some say, because of COVID-19), some companies come, and some students are placed, but mostly unsatisfactory.
- The gender ratio is not good. The gender ratio is 10:2. There are fewer girls in the mechanical and computer branches.

To do engineering in Maharashtra, MH-CET is compulsory and every student here has come that way. Rank of 3000-4500 is enough for general category students to secure admission in VJTI's E&TC branch. Mybl rank was 3325 and therefore i got a call from VJTI and I immediately applied and was confirmed in 48 hours.

I got the admission for textile fibre processing in ICT Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai but I choose Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute over that because of placements and its history .

- VJTI being one of the top engineering colleges , the atmosphere here is quite competitive, you'll get to improve yourself through interaction with other students and seniors, the seniors are too helpful and always there when fys need any kind of gelp
- The college organises various kinds of fests , and believe me it's hella fun , else there are sports competitions time to time , various events on weekends to involve fys , hostelites competition, overall there's a mix of studies and fun here
Dislikes
- Some part of college is still not in perfect shape , they should improve infrastructure
- I opted for hostel and have already paid fees in September but they are renovating the hostels still , I haven't got my room , they said the deadline was 22nd September but it been more than a month :(
Admission:
I choose this college and this branch (textile) because I felt at my percentile this was the only reasonable option, and I didn't have any kind of inclination towards any branch so I choose this , the admission process is quite good , it took me around 25 minutes for whole process completion, To get admission in VJTI one needs to attempt MHTCET exam and the cutoff for textile open category was around 95 + percentile I guess , I had 97.24

- A bit of professionalism lack from contracted faculties is the biggest drawback here.
Admission:
I was a merit holder in CET, so why would I apply anywhere else. It's my hometown Thane and this college is just a few stations away from my place. So VJTI was always on my mind and a targetted college too. Admission here is as simple as anything, you appear in merit and you get VJTI as there are no negotiations or money that can confirm ur admissions here.

I was in top 1000 in CET ranking and VJTI is among the top ranked so it was obvious. Of course BITS Pilani and IITs were my dream but ofcourse I couldn't make it ther. Admission process is purely through merit and CET score is the only way to get here and along with that it's compulsory to have 55% or more in 12th.

- The college is built over 125 years ago and that heritage building and remains are still present inside the campus.

- Location ka not great as metro station is still not built and for those living in suburbs, it is difficult to reach the college by changing local trains.

MH CET is the way to get admissions here and mind you top scorers in MH CET gets admissions here. VJTI was my second choice after MIT Pune so I won't say I got any rejection anywhere. Hailing from Mumbai, I think it was for better good that I got a schore which was sufficient enough for getting admissions her.

I chose this college because of placements, back in 2023 I got a seat in VNIT NAGPUR, NIT PATNA, NIT RAIPUR, and top-rated colleges of Maharashtra but I chose VJTI over others as the placements of this college are pretty good over all options I got. Adding to it I got a circuital branch here whereas mechanical branch in other colleges. Thats the only reason I chose this college but honestly speaking I regret it.

I think you should consider VJTI College to pursue a CS course. My reasons for choosing VJTI are:
- VJTI is one of the best engineering colleges in Maharashtra known for its robust CS course. The program focuses on research and innovation helping students to develop a solid foundation in the basics of CS.
- CS students from VJTI compete in several hackathons every year showing the level of education provided to students.
- The college also has a dedicated in-house research centre for CoE as well.

What should I choose, VJTI for Computer Science or BITS Goa for Chemical?
My friend also faced the dilemma of choosing between VJTI and BITS Goa. He ended up choosing VJTI because of the following reasons.
- VJTI offers a renowned CS curriculum with a strong focus on practical learning.
- BITS Goa may have a higher average salary during placement, but placements for CS at VJTI are also pretty solid. A total of 401 BTech students have been placed till now in 2024. - VJTI has strong industry connections and easily offers students research and internship opportunities in top firms.
- BITS Goa also offer most of such programs in dual degree format which may be uncomfortable for some students.

Why are colleges such as BIT SINDRI, VJTI MUMBAI and HBTI KANPUR underrated?
I have quite a few friends at VJIT Mumbai, so I can speak for the institute. After IITs, it is quite reputed among students. People from outside of Maharashtra may not be aware of VJIT but inside the state being a student of VJIT is a matter of pride.
If we make a comparison of engineering colleges nationwide, it will be IITs from tier-1, followed by few NITs, and after that colleges such as VJIT for the following tier.
VJIT is an old institute with a huge brand value. Many reputed MNCs visit the campus for the placement drive. It is less recognized but ‘underrated’ is probably is the wrong word to describe it.
The following factors are the reasons who most people are not familiar with the institute.
- It is a state college, that limits its appeal to a great extent. Students, parents, and media all alike give far more important to national colleges/institutions by default.
- As students outside of the state of the institute do not know about the college, they do not apply and thus the diversity is heavily skewed.
So, VJIT may not have national recognition but it is quite reputed inside Maharashtra.

As I have studied at VJTI, I can confirm that opting for MTech CSE from here will be a wise choice. Every year, many companies visit the VJTI campus and provide good packages. KJ Somiaya also charges much higher for its courses while VJTI being an autonomous government institute has an economic fee structure. It fosters a culture of academic excellence and innovation.
