As a student of Sidho Kanho Birsha University, Purulia I can say that the fees is pretty much affordable. • The fees for the whole year is 6000/- for the two semesters of our masters program in chemistry. • The fees is almost same for all the courses in the university for the masters program ( Except the self financed courses). • The self financed courses have fees structure of near about 20000/- per semester. • The students of our university who are below the income range of 3lakh 80thousad get a scholarship called svmcm. Not for only our university all the govt universities students get this scholarship. • The scholarship give us 30000/- per year with some criteria. • Also the students from sc/st category gets extra support to carry out their studies. • Almost me and all my batchmates meet all the criteria and enjoy the scholarship for our studies. So I can say that our university is pretty much affordable and if one gets the scholarship then the masters program will be a joyful ride for him/her.

Faculty:

Sidho Kanho Birsha University got success in many fields of research and industrial palecments. And I think the most important key player is our respectable professors. The faculty to student ratio in our university is quite good . I think the ratio will be 1:10 . And that's a pretty good number I think . Dr. Anup Pramanik of our chemistry dept is the favourite professor of mine. He was always there for me in my journey in this university. There is no professor whom I not liked . All of them are my pathfinders. There is 2 exams per year ... In more details 2 semester in a year. This is the curriculum of exams for all the depts in our university. And the curriculum is very relevant to us with a high success rate in the exams .

My course is a two year master's in chemistry. The last semester is completely for project... We wll involve in the project cell after the 1st semester itself... As the students can opt their project guide in 1st semester itself...every semester there will be 2 internals and minimum mark is required to pass the the internal also as it will be taken to the final result.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

The college best if you are very interested in academic especially for science students. The college has minimum fee structure compared to other college for both academics and daily expenses. Good reservation also provided by the university. The college is eco-friendly. Very easy to approach the professors for academic purposes.

Faculty:

Actually for the students of MSc you need to attend classes in department (University itself) So for classes you don't need to bother about the college. There will be 4 semesters, each semester there will be examinations also since it'll be continuous evaluation so attendance would be the major issue You can't escape out of the loop

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

No such scholarship amount was provided by college although you can apply for some government scholarship like I did by applying in NSP still no outcome came as this year 2023-24 NSP processing also got delayed. Very disappointing in terms of scholarship also you can't apply in FSS scheme by university Fee structure is 14569/-

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love doing research and lab works and when i started researching on best colleges i got to know about it and i took the admission. Here the college always tried us to experience things by our own so that it is easily for us to do them in real world. Yes their is a need of improvement like college should provide some internship but apart from that everything is good. Exams are happens on regular intervals and they are not that much hard but yes not easy to qualify if you haven't focused on the classroom.

Faculty:

Their are so many faculties, the student to faculty ratio is about 1:10, yes and they are easily approachable, their is easily 2-3 faculties for each topics,. I personally liked tripti ma'am she taught us organic chemistry and yes helps us in lab work also. I didn't like sheerin ma'am as she skips many classes. Their are exams happening in regular intervals, class tests , internals and also term examination, but yes if you have focused in your classes it can be cleared easily.

Campus Life:

I have build a great network with the students of different courses. My hesitation while talking to strangers vanished completely. This is because of the Clubs and Societies which removes the barrier between students. 3 big playgrounds are here in campus for almost all sports including Cricket, Football, Athletics, Basketball, Long Jump, High Jump, Lawn tennis Swiming pool and courts for Badminton, Table Tennis , Smash etc with proper management facilities. Main Central Library is here for all necessary books and access to all journals of many known Societies for students. Many Clubs and Societies are here for students interaction.

Faculty:

Faculty members are friendly and supportive. If someone has doubt they can directly approach or may mail them for there time. One of my favourite Faculty member is Dr. ANIL J. ELIAS who is also a writer of many inorganic books topic- Organometallics, Coordination, Main Group etc. There are in total 4 times exams conducted in a semester like 2 surprise quizes and 1 minor and 1 major. Paper pattern is simple but yeah difficulty level of questions is somewhat on a higher side. Atmost 1-2 student got failed otherwise everyone manages to pass the exams.

Visva Bharati condoms many festivals mostly every month. As it is also a tourist place Pous Mela is very popular. There are the NCC and NSS campus if you are interested in those you can contact the sports department. Also there are swimming pools and many grounds to play. There are no common union groups for the students as such but there are political groups if you are interested you can join them and do several activities with them. There are many libraries in Vishwa Bharti including one central library where you can get every courses books. Also many department has share own library too.

Faculty:

Faculty to student ratio is not up to the mark for many departments such as like integrated science education and research centre or ISERC. They should be more faculties in the streams of Chemistry, physics, biology, math and computer science. Because the lack of the faculties there are many students who fail in the examination the ratio is very high sometimes. Immediate action should be taken to the fake faculties as well as the labs facilities should be increased soon with the atleast 1 lab assistant!

Fee structure Graduation ( 2020-2023) 1st year - 20000 Rs. 2nd year / 3rd year - 19500 Rs. Approx. Because in 1st year fee, there is Admission fee and examination fee was included and in 2nd/ 3rd year there is no admission fee. We need to pay the examination fee seperate. Post Graduation ( 2023-2025) 1st year - 25125 Rs. 2nd year - 24222 Rs. (Again admission is subtracted) Fee break up is not mentioned on the receipt. Fee is almost same for reserved category students also. They only get some refund of around 250 rupees from tuition fee. Yeah, there is financial support scheme available for students in need . And they sometimes provide the full fee wavier. Merit Scholarships are also there but they are very less and vary from department to department. If fee increases or not ? It is from my personal experience, fee increases every year for new student. My younger brother got admission in 2022 and currently he is paying around 23k while I paid average 19k for the same cours

Faculty:

Faculty to student ratio: 1 to 5. Teachers are very helpful and always there with the students whether it is academic or personal issue. Although all the faculty members were experts in their field and very good in teaching and behaviour. The Faculties, I liked most during my undergrad are Dr. Vinita Narula and Dr. Aman Bhardwaj. I liked them most because they are very generous and their teaching is just amazing. Also Dr. Dinesh is also loved by whole class. He kept engaging class with him. Exam structure:- There are two Semesters in a year. And every Sem contains two exams internal and final exam. Final exam also contain practical exam. Internals are for 25 marks. Final exams are for 75 marks. Practical exam is for 50 marks including continuous evaluation. If you have studied throughout the semester attentively, exam will not be hard for you.

Ques. Between an M.Sc chemistry in BITS Hyderabad and CSE in VIT, which is better?

● Top Answer By Bidita Ghose on 22 Dec 23

Ans. Based on mine and my friends’ experiences, here are some points I would like for you to consider in this regard- The branch should always be your top priority. For a dual degree in CSE at BITS Hyderabad, you’ll need to score more than 7.6 CG. That would mean an average +30 in most subjects (relative grading). Phoenix Dual is a better option than VIT CSE. Dual degree will take away a lot from your campus life. You won’t be able to enjoy clubs and events to the fullest. BITS Hyderabad undoubtedly has a better crowd quality. Moreover, it carries the prestigious ‘BITS’ tag. BITS will give you a more quality campus experience with better academics. The decision has to be made by you, but I hope that these points will guide you. Whatever you choose, make sure to maintain a good academic performance in college, so that you end up getting decent job offers.Read more

Ques. How is integrated MSc. in chemistry at SVNIT Surat?

● Top Answer By Trisha Sharma on 06 Jan 24

Ans. Here are my insights as a former iMSc. Chemistry student at SVNIT- Do not enroll into iMSc. Chemistry simply for the NIT tag. Do so only if you have a passionate interest in this course. You’ll have to put in a lot of effort from your own side. The faculty is very talented and the library has a good collection of books related to this field. But all of that will only help if you study religiously.  You’ll get a good understanding of the concepts of Chemistry through theoretical and practical sessions. The last semester will have dissertation work, which will be your introduction to the field of research.  The NIT tag will help you land good internships. You’ll get ample guidance from your teachers, but they can’t do the work for you. So you’ll have to search for good internships and projects all by yourself. The future of this stream mainly lies in research work and teaching. Institutes like Resonance, Akash, etc. visit the department with teaching vacancies.  These are the important details on integrated MSc. in Chemistry at SVNIT. The college offers good extracurricular activities, but don’t expect this journey to be all about fun.Read more

Ques. I have been studying for an MSc in chemistry from IIT Hyderabad, but my 12 marks are just 61.5%. Will I qualify for a PhD abroad?

● Top Answer By Divya Saraf on 20 May 23

Ans. For a PhD, class 12th marks are given considerably less importance given that your graduation and post-graduation grades are great. For a Ph.D. abroad, since you will be seeking direct admission into the university and not approaching a specific professor, your past academics matter a lot. Having good class 12 marks, graduation, and post-graduation marks will improve your chances of admission and it’s always better to play safe. In case of average marks, you have the option to write to a professor in Europe who is working in a field that aligns with your research project topic. If you share a common ground with any professor you can get admission by skipping the entire formal admission procedure although you might have to appear for some interviews that will evaluate your research caliber. Overall, my recommendation is to apply everywhere as long as money is not involved. In cases you are required to send documents or GRE scores you need to be careful.Read more

Ques. Where can I get the previous years' MSc chemistry entrance examination questions papers of Aligarh Muslim University?

● Top Answer By Nilima Pandey on 14 Aug 20

Ans. The previous year's examination question papers of Aligarh Muslim University can not be found on the internet. The main reason behind that is AMU does not make their paper public. If you want the previous year's papers, contact the members of the seminar library of the AMU chemistry department. Or else you can check the Maulana Azad Library about the previous year's papers of MSc. If you know any research scholars in the department, they might help you. Moreover, in Aligarh, there is a Shamshad market, famous for bookstores. You can buy reference books, previous year papers, etc. from the bookstores there.Read more

Ques. How is Kurukshetra University for MSc in chemistry?

● Top Answer By Srinjini Roy on 20 Oct 21

Ans. I have a friend who completed his M.Sc in Chemistry from Kurukshetra University. He advises against joining the institute. According to him, it’s better to prefer a central university or an IIT for your M.Sc degree.  Only the Organic Chemistry department is good. The other departments of Chemistry are not that great. The research culture is also not that effective. Only the first year of your M.Sc degree will be worth it. The final year is more like a formality at Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry department. Read more

Ques. Is Jiwaji University Gwalior good for an M.Sc. in chemistry?

● Top Answer By Yash Mathur on 11 Oct 21

Ans. The Department of Chemistry of Jiwaji University Gwalior has some of the best labs in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The alumni network does not let any of the graduate students sit idle and waste their time. A lot of the students, however, do not have respect for the university as the pattern of the exams is not regular and the classes are just as irregular.  There are usually 10 available seats and selection in this college is carried out on the basis of an entrance exam. Here the fees are much more reasonable than other colleges. If you study here, you may not get the best exposure but if you work hard, you could have the chance of succeeding also.Read more

Ans. You should choose Chandigarh University for an M.Sc in Chemistry.  The department has state-of-the-art laboratories to perform practicals for Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry.  CU used teaching aids such as PPTs, Models, Animated Videos, Charts, etc.  Many activities are organized throughout the academic year to encourage learning outside the classroom. The faculty pool for Chemistry is excellent. CU encourages students to publish research papers during their last semester.  In terms of academics, learning resources, and facilities, CU will be better than HPU. Read more
