In first year we have to study about every branch in 2 semesters so that we can have basic knowledge about every field and in rest of the 3 years we have to focus dedicatedly on our respective branches. But to get a job we have to learn skills from internet.

The course structure of computer science and engineering is fine you get decent knowledge of computer science fundamentals like database management system, computer architecture, company networking, operating systems and object oriented programming.

The curriculum is no 100% up to point but still is a good curriculum I will . Subjects like environmental science helps to sknow about climate change and how to deal with it. Engineering Drawing on the other hand is just completely rubbish I don't like it's and it's useless.

Thus college is very good at this thing like brooo.. alot of societies and interviews which give a real life experience of interviews and guess what I'm selected in NCC after going the EXTREME PFT for 4 hours in the morning

Course Curriculum Overview:
The curriculum is fine and relevant and since it is decided by the NEP, nothing really can't be done about it. Yea, it prepares very well for the future exams and career. i would suggest removing courses like Business studies in the CSE, but then again, it is there to make us aware regarding every field. The engineering graphics is just a hectice subject that needs to be removed.

Course Curriculum Overview:
Cirriculum is based on NEP 2020. In first year each student will taught same courses and branch upgrade is also done after first year based on CGPA. We are introduced to various real life problems and how to solve them in more efficient way. There are some course which helps us to prepare for our interview . But there might be a scope of improvement means to upgrade syllabus and introduce new topics. Exams are held twice in a semester with a difficulty level of medium

The course curriculum is good as all important subjects to the course are being provided. Even every detail info in that subject is taught and clubs are very participating. Exams are not that tough they are very medium.

- The CSE department of NIT Hamirpur has some exceptionally good faculty members. Their teaching styles are unique.
- The curriculum of this department is one of the best. A few courses are so profound that CS students of this college have an upper hand when talking to other CS grads.
- Students are taught diverse courses like AI, Data Mining, Agent-Based Systems, OS, Networks, Advanced Architecture, etc
Cons
- The number of faculty members is low and the majority of them are not interested in teaching.
- Not many CS companies visit the campus for placements and most companies from the IT sector visit.
- Students aren’t offered any kind of industrial exposure.
- There aren’t any student projects, and only bookish knowledge is given preference.
However, being a CSE student at NIT Hamirpur is certainly a privilege given the fact that they have the maximum free time and also the best placement record.
So weigh the pros and cons against your own preferences and make a wise decision.

The choice of the branch is more important than choosing the institute because it determines and shapes your career. If you are interested in working in a PSU or have an interest in Electronics, choose ECE but if you have no such inclinations choose CS, the most diverse field. There are two main differences between IIITs and NITs
- IIITs are relatively new and may not have a very extensive alumni network while NITs are aged old and have an elaborate network.
- NITs provide diverse specialization in various fields while IIITs only focus on Computer Science education.
Based on the placement scenario and the academics, here is the preference order I would suggest you follow while making your choice
NIT Jalandhar CSE>IIIT Jabalpur CSE>NIT Raipur CSE>NIT Kurukshetra ECE>NIT Hamirpur ECE> NIT Jamshedpur ECE

Comparably NIT Patna CSE is better. It offers lucrative salary packages. According to the recent placement highlights, NIT Patna CSE average package was INR 7.7 LPA. While the highest CTC offered to the student of this branch was INR 42 LPA. More than 90% of the students get placed from the CSE branch. Intel, Google, and Samsung are the major recruiting companies for CSE.
Which one is better: a CSE at NIT, Hamirpur or an ECE at PEC?
In terms of NIRF 2023 rankings, NIT Hamirpur is placed 127th while PEC is placed 138th among Engineering colleges in India.
Keeping the rankings apart, your choice of college should be based on two factors-
- Branch- If you have a particular interest in one of these branches, I would recommend you choose your college according to that. Both these branches offer good placements, though CSE students end up grabbing the highest packages. Both the colleges offer decent placements.
During the 2023 placement season, the median package for ECE branch at PEC stood at INR 18.40 LPA. Last year, the CSE branch at NIT Hamirpur recorded 96.81% placements. 139 offers were received in total, and the highest salary stood at INR 1.12 CPA.
- Brand name- Both the colleges are at par with one another, but NIT Hamirpur carries the much-valued ‘NIT’ tag. It has a good infrastructure and a beautiful campus. Which one is better for CSE: Jaypee Institute of Information Technology or NIT Hamirpur?
There are several factors which one can consider while comparing two institutions. Here are some things that I considered while choosing my college.
NIT Hamirpur will offer you the prestigious ‘NIT’ tag. As compared to other colleges in this region, the environment over there is superior. By environment I mean the learning, interaction and personal development offered at an institution. The placements are continuously improving with new companies visiting the campus each year, offering better packages. This college has shown positive growth in terms of exposure and student- teacher interaction as well.
Even though I’m a student of NIT Hamirpur, my opinion is devoid of such biases. Thus, according to me, NIT Hamirpur is a better choice for your CSE program.
What would be better if I am interested in both, EE at NIT Hamirpur or CSE at IIIT Vadodara?
Before selecting among institutes, you should decide which branch to opt for. As per the question asked, you must have an interest in both EE and CSE at the two specified institutes.
The points followed will give certain guidelines, based on which you can come to a conclusion.
- CSE has a much better placement opportunity in the private sector all over India. But for electrical engineers, there is a good scope in the government sector.
- Considering the reputation of institutes, NIT Hamirpur is a much better institute than IIIT Vadodara.
- In NIT Hamirpur, the alumni base is obviously much stronger than that of IIIT Vadodara.
- The campus life too is much better in NIT H. The only disadvantage is its location with no direct access to the city. On the other hand, Vadodara is a well-established city with proper communication to other cities. But, Hamirpur is not as bad a location as Mandi, and so is somewhat accessible.
- NIT Hamirpur has one of the most beautiful campuses in India. So, the four years of engineering are very spent inside the campus of NIT H. No one regrets being on the campus by any means.
Considering the above points, it can be deduced that EE at NIT Hamirpur is a better option, having a better college reputation and good campus life.
Is IIIT Vadodara a better option than NIT Hamirpur for CSE?
It all depends upon you, how you want to make your future and what amount of hard work you are willing to put in. I can give you some information regarding NIT Hamirpur, as my brother is a student there.
Every college has its advantages and disadvantages. The same is the case with NIT Hamirpur. Though the college is situated in a very beautiful place with a welcoming infrastructure, the environment is also very appealing but it lacks industrial exposure that is one of the major disadvantages.
