Placement Experience

Students become eligible for on campus placements in their fifth semester, but they can apply for off campus internships in any year, there are lots of big companies visiting the campus like apple, google, Microsoft, atlassian, etc, the highest package this year was 85 lpa, which at some year also croses 1 cpa, more that half of the college usually gets placed by the end of the placement sessions. my olan after getting my degree is to get into a role of full stack developer, who also designs stuff.

Fees and Financial Aid

the fees for first year js 2,36,700 rupees which increases by around 10% each year. but this increase is only in the tuition fees which is 1,55,000 rupees, the other amount remains the same which is the exam fee, welfare fee, etc. There are lots if scholarships available for backward section of the society, which even provide 100% off on tuition fees.

Faculty

The faculty members are highly educated as well as highly professional but that doesn't mean they are unapproachable. All professors are always just an email away . The faculty-to-student ratio depends on the branch. The exams can be a little demanding but nothing some all nighters can't handle :) Students do fail exams but that depends in professor to professor.

Faculty

The professors are very helpful not just in studying but also in helping us with any difficulty regarding instructing career and time management. The marking skeem depends on the class strength, if the class strength is more than 30 then there is relative marking, and else based on absolute marking . There are tow exams in one semester midsem and endsem and total semester are eight. A semester is of 4 months and each mid and end are conducted within 2 months.

Placement Experience

The placement percentage is very good in my college. Student gets placement on the basis of their performance, like coding skills and good performance in interviews. The average package that any company provides is 12LPA, which is a good thing for a bachelor. In any case, if someone isn't placed on campus then he can apply for off-campus, in this scenario one definitely get placement .

Course Curriculum Overview

I was unsure of whether I should take up Physics research or electronics engineering, so I choose my course which was the middle ground between the two The current course structure is good, but for me, not the most relevant to secure a job, as engineering physics is primarily a research oriented branch. However, it is easy to acquire skills to land intern or a job by self-learning or through tech clubs. If the curriculum allowed for a bit more freedom on coursework selection, then it would allow students to pursue their interests. The exams are held twice in a semester which lasts 4 months. The end terms are more diffucult than the mid sems, and require more preparation. If you study a week for midsem, and 2 weeks for end sem, you can easily score well.

Faculty

The faculty student ratio is around 1 to 50, and most professors readily help students who ask for help. Proff. Anjani Tiwari is one of the faculties who keeps grading leanient, so most students find him likeable. A couple of proffs do exists who lack the necessary teaching skills, and hence their classes are mostly empty. The exams are much easier than JEE, and it is easy to pass them if you study for a single night. However to score good grades, you need to study for a couple of weeks in advance. @ sets of examinations are held - mid sem and end sem. Around 5% of students fail, but most of them pass in the re-examination. The coursework has been updated last year, so it is pretty relevant to market requirements.

Placement Experience

The campus placements are really good for students in branches like CS, AI, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics and computing. Equal Opportunities are given to people from other branches like physics, civil engineering and mechanical engineering in their respective fields and if they choose to minor in CS or AI and the like. Major companies include Oracle, Samsung, Intel, whirlpool, TCS, Accenture, Axis Bank, etc. However, as I am more research oriented, i wish to get a PhD and become a professor in an Ivy League college.

Campus Life

There are many capus festivities, like Milan, which is an inter hostel competition (September), Elan, the annual tech fest, (February), Inter IIT competitions (December). The library is awesome, its nver ending bookshelves and easily accessible shelving system makes it easy and fun to find books to read. The sports facilities are impressive, with swimming pools, gym, courts for all sports, indoor games etc. There are a lot of clubs too, like finance club, mental health, art, music, books, theater arts, etc.

Faculty

This college has considerably good faculty-to-student ratio. The faculty are very approachable they put in serious efforts to make students understand the course and clarify their doubts. I liked my Math Teacher, he taught us really well and was instrumental in clarifying my doubts. There are really good faculties who have been awarded as Top 2% world's scientists, and their work, research is great. I was not very fond of ET Theory Course, he taught the course well and even extended himself to clarify our doubts, but I couldn't connect with the faculty very much, he was indeed a good person but I couldn't reciprocate with him. There is one Mid-Semester Exam and one End-Semester Exams, the assessment is cumulative, the class tests, assignments will be considered and marked. Exams are set to standard level yet there are a few who fail to clear a few exams. The first year curriculum is not that relevant to course but must be done.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition for each semester is 1,00,000. The mess fee would be 18,000 and other charges like rental water and electricity, other facilities and hostel overhead charges amounts upto another 18,000. Thus for each semester you will be paying 1,36,000. The reemission will be applicable if you belong to certain category or if you have less family income. --> For SC/ST/Pwd candidates tuition fee is fully reemitted and they have to just pay 36,000. --> For OBC and General Canditates if the income is below 5 lakh 2/3 rd of tuition fee will be remitted rest must be paid There willbe various scholarships available that would be circulated by the management

Campus Life

Events held by DTU: Freshers party - AARAMBH Literature fest - YUVAAN Tech fest - INVICTUS Main fest - ENGI All events have a vibe with concerts and multiple events with sponsors and stuff. Library has a wide range of books and can be checked on dtu's website under library page. Atmosphere of library is also lovely for studies. Each classroom has a projector and wirings hooked to it along with AC in all classrooms and most labs (some labs cannot have an ac) DTU has a big sports campus that is open to anyone at any point in time which has many sports and an indoor gym as well. Many NGOs and Self discovery societies also exist in dtu like STEP DTU which can help people

Placement Experience

Students become eligible for placements in 7th semester. Some top examples of companies that visit are Google Microsoft Uber Zomato etc Percentage of places students is heavily branch dependent with CSE branch getting about 70-80% students placed with avg of 16 LPA and ENE branch getting about 50% students placed with an avg of 9 LPA. Note: just because 80% of students are placed means that the other 20% might be intrested in higher studies or might have other plans unrelated to college. Highest package of DTU was around 46 LPA My current plans are to get a good placement but those plans can change considering college lie has just begun

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is approx 1:40. Faculty is very approachable and friendly. Classes involve indeoth discussion about every topic and all teachers are open to discussion via whatsapp or mai. Faculty i really liked is Dr. Sayani Chatterjee (thermodynamics). She makes the class very lively and enthusiastic. She also solves every doubt of students. There are total 5 exams for each subject. 1 midsem, 2 quizzes, 1 endsem. Midsem and quizzes are very easy. Endsem needs good knowledge but it is still very doable. Course curriculum is very interesting and relatable if the student is interested in physics research line.

Fees and Financial Aid

Admission fee involves fees to the JOSAA authorities(1 lac 75k). Btech: Tuition fees in college for general/obc (above 5 lakh income) = 75.5k General/obc (1-5 lakh) = 33834 General/obc(less rhan 1 lac) /sc/st = 13k B.arch: General/obc(above 5 lac) = 80.5k General/obc(1-5 lac) = 38834 General/obc(less than 1 lac)/sc/st = 18k. Lots of scholarship opportunities for female students, sc st students, low income students. Huge number of scholarships are available. Not many scholarships for general male with above 5 lac income.

Faculty

faculty members are very chill and also very, very outstanding. As there are leading professions in their own fields. I remember one of my professor was ceo in tata industries. As faculties are very well established. You get a lot of exposure. There are a lot of exams and every exam marking scheme and difficulty depends on the course

Internships Opportunities

There are lot of internships available on and off campus for students. They can also apply for research positions for internships. Generally they are given good stipends. International internships give outstanding stipends with lot of exposure.

Faculty

There are a lot of outstanding faculties that are always ready to help students. Prof swapnil mahajan taught me ma105 and was very very nice to students, taught very well and also graded very generously. There are many exams in one sem and that depends on the course, difficultly also depends on course but mostly if you study consistently, it will be fine

Campus Life

Campus life is very chill but also if you stop focusing on studies it can be tough. People here are allrounders and very welcoming. Clubs are also fun. There are annual cultural fest (mood indigo) and techfest which are one of the best in asia. Libraries are full of different types of books.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is almost 1:40 at our campus. The faculty are good and approachable too. Major doubts are solved during the ongoing lectures Also if any one has extra doubts or problem they can meet the faculty after classes also. The physical chemistry prof.is most likable because of his academic excellence(PhD from Colombia university and post doctorate from Stanford University) Also he gives better life lessons The physics prof. Is less likable because of his rudeness and impatient in making students learn the concepts There are four exams in a semester and whether it will be easy or tough it depends on profs,a few students also failed the exam The course curriculum is relevant off course but it need some modifications too

Course Curriculum Overview

I would personally rate 4 stars to the course curriculum.I choosed btech in engineering physics as it is a better arena for who are interested in research fields The course curriculum has theoretical as well as practical approach for teaching the students as it contains lab practical as well as other practical exams with projects My personal suggestion for course is that they should emphasize more on learning through machines not through books Their are four exams(two quizzes and mid sem exam and end sem exam) The level of difficulty can easily be tackled If one study with consistency

Placement Experience

From 7th semester student become eligible for campus placement but many of students get pre placement offers after their internship in 6th semester. Talking about number of companies visited might more then 50 or more then that i don't know much about that. Popular companies visited are Google, Microsoft, taxes Instruments, samsung, Reliance, vedanta, flipkart, Amazon, phonepe , Salesforce, Infosys, Tata motor, Mahindra, and many more. Talking about heighest package that is 1- 1.5 cr pa. And average package may be around 30 lakh. Now percentage of student placements is 70 percent. My plan is build and startup after getting degree

Fees and Financial Aid

For ST category there is no tution fee we only need to pay our hostel and mess fees which sums total to be aroud 26000 per semester. But during my admission i paid 56000 in my monsoon semester and 26000 this winter semester. All fees like lab and others all included in this semester fees. Talking About scholarships One i know is NSP for st student by central government, which pays all the fees of semester and give stipend of 1200 every month. There are many more but i don't know in details about them.

Ques. Is it worth it to do engineering physics from NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Akanksha Pandey on 24 Mar 21

Ans. You would first decide whether it is a good option to do Engineering Physics, then no matter whichever college you choose. It is important that you know a few details before making a final decision about college. About the course:  Engineering Physics is a 4-year programme whose course commences in the first year and for three years you will study the same structure as of BSc-Physics.  It includes Quantum Mechanics, Nuclear Physics, etc. But in Engineering Physics practical knowledge is given more importance which will help you gaining extermination knowledge.  Placements: A career after Engineering Physics is not promising. You cannot expect to get a place on campus with an Engineering Physics degree.  There are not many companies that have the Engineering Physics job requirement.  Most of the companies have different recruitment processes which cannot be done on-campus, except government firms like DRDO, BARC, etc. You should not lose hope as college faculties and alumni help students in getting placed by identifying your interest.  Scope: Some students after completing Engineering Physics go for an MSc course and get into research and join IITs or institutes such as BARC.  To get good opportunities you have to work hard and keep taking GRE, GATE, and other exams to clear it.  If you do not want to go for research, then you can join a non-engineering job or can go for TFI etc. Therefore, if you have an interest in Engineering Physics and ready to work hard then go for it. It will surely pay you well. Most of the college faculties also help students in getting placed, so do not worry much about it.Read more

Ques. Which is better: Engineering Physics at IIT Bombay or Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee?

● Top Answer By Sumit Bose on 18 Mar 23

Ans. It would be suggested to pursue Engineering Physics at IIT Bombay rather than Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee.  When it comes to studying physics at IITB, there are some key differences between JEE physics and college-level physics. Here are some important points to keep in mind: In JEE physics, you study formula derivations after brief explanations of concepts and practice a lot of problems in that topic. College-level physics courses are typically more rigorous in theoretical and mathematical content, and problems are solved to help you understand the concepts more deeply. While EE does not have any pure physics courses after the first year, it focuses on making you an electrical engineer. Core courses include analog and digital electronics, signals and systems, network theory, electronic devices, microprocessors, power electronics, and some relevant math courses. EP, on the other hand, has core courses like quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, statistics, relativity, classical mechanics, waves and optics, nuclear physics, etc. There are also important math courses up to your second year. EP trains you in core physics concepts and prepares you for experimental physics and electronics, giving you many options for your career path. You can work in theoretical or experimental physics, electronics, statistics and stochastics, CS-related research, or pursue higher studies in physics. When choosing between IITB and IIT Roorkee, consider factors like the quality of professors, campus culture, and location. IITB has excellent professors, a beautiful campus, and great cultural and sports scenes, and is close to TIFR, which provides opportunities for collaboration. When it comes to placements, most EP students go for higher studies because they are passionate about physics. For EE, core and non-core jobs are similar to those for other courses in terms of job security and salary packages. Finally, the "brand" of IITs, especially IIT Bombay, provides a sense of job security that can be reassuring for graduates.Read more

Ques. How do I choose between IIT Delhi engineering physics, civil, production & industrial, and chemical engineering?

● Top Answer By Pawan Sinha on 05 Apr 23

Ans. I will restrict my answer to Engineering Physics and Chemicals only as I know the same only.  The major criterion followed at IIT Delhi by all the branches is a well-maintained CG. To secure good placements one has to constantly score a good CG throughout the program. During your admission, the department does not play any role but your 85 percent constraint on minimum possible strength does. Engineering Physics is a unique branch for those highly passionate about Physics and want to pursue higher studies in the same To secure core jobs, one has to move to MTech in Engineering Physics from BTech in Engineering Physics. For Chemical Engineering students, BTech is more than enough to secure decent packages and great research opportunities outside India. Consultancy and Analytics jobs are offered equally to students of all the departments  Engineering Physics graduates usually take up consultancy or IT jobs  Chemical Engineering is the most laid-back department of IIT Delhi with very flexible academics thus making it easy to maintain a decent CG throughout.  I wouldn’t suggest anyone go for Engineering Physics if they have no intention of pursuing it later. Instead, look for other options in BTech and explore your interests.Read more

Ques. What should I choose between BITS Pilani EEE or IIT Guwahati engineering physics?

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 04 May 23

Ans. Both BITS Pilani and IT Guwahati are reputable institutions with strong engineering programs. It’s highly recommended that you go through the contents of the curriculum once before opting for any major. Most students skip this and regret it later as they are forced to study courses they least expected. Go through the books of these courses and determine if the matter intrigues you or not.  IIT Guwahati Engineering Physics program covers a wide spectrum of fields. Although the placement scenario is average, it definitely quenches your thirst for knowledge of Physics and also prepares you for higher studies.  Another good option for core physics is MSc at Kanpur or Kharagpur. Although EP will expose you to multiple options, you will require another degree. It’s better to analyze your interests deeply before making the final decision. As far as the EEE at BITS Pilani is concerned, I am strongly against anyone joining BITS irrespective of the branch they choose. The curriculum is poorly structured and lacks flexibility. The placement scenario is deteriorating day by day. The exposure offered is null and thus BITS Pilani should be your last option when all doors are closed. You will end up wasting your time and money with no solid knowledge up your sleeve by the end of 4 years. Ultimately, the decision of which program to choose depends on your personal preferences and career goals.Read more

Ques. Does an engineering physics graduate from IIT Delhi get high packages?

● Top Answer By Dipti Sinha on 05 Apr 23

Ans. Engineering Physics is one of the most intriguing research-oriented branches of IIT Delhi. Students of this branch get the excellent opportunity to work in top research centers like ISRO, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Eminent scientists and professors testify to the branch's credibility so need not worry about placements. However, this branch is highly challenging and should be opted for only if you are serious about making a career out of it. The curriculum is challenging with high-level mathematics. Students from most branches end up working in MNCs and leave soon because they are not satisfied. However, the Engineering Physics branch provides excellent job prospects. I know someone who chooses this branch over CS and Electrical despite his AIR being 10. This branch requires serious commitment and one has to be truly devoted to the field. The faculty is not that good in comparison to other branches and this might make you suffer initially, but once you start understanding the practical concepts, it will become one of the most interesting courses you have ever come across.Read more

Ques. What rank in JEE is required for engineering physics at NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Shailja Khandelwa on 21 Aug 23

Ans. The cutoff marks vary from year to year and also depend on the category of the candidate. Another major factor that determines the cutoff is if you are a Home State Student or Other State student. Home-state students require lower cutoffs so they are at a certain advantage. These cutoffs decrease in subsequent rounds depending on the seats left. Here is the NIT Calicut Engineering Physics cutoff for various categories  Category HS OS General 25540 16153 OBCNCL 7887 6808 SC 9310 2773 EWS 30303 2695 ST 1952 1946 GeneralPwD 1021 - OBC NCLPwD 715 - Hope this helps you!Read more

Ques. Which one is better: IISC Bengaluru BS Programme or IIT Delhi Engineering Physics? Why?

● Top Answer By Deeraj Shah on 10 Apr 23

Ans. IISc Bengaluru’s BS Program is still in its infancy but has great scope for development in the near future. In fact, I consider this program even better than the Engineering Physics offered at IIT Delhi. A few strong reasons support my stance on the same area: IISc program curriculum is very flexible and students are at the freedom to opt for any course of their choice provided that they have completed the first year m’s highly dynamic course. Whereas IIT Delhi's EG program has little flexibility as you will be studying physics-related courses throughout the program with little space to choose a different topic Globally, IISc is a well-reputed science institute, and its scientific research and teaching methodology are even better than IIT Delhi. The professors of IISc Bangalore are more experienced and learned than IIT Delhi and their unique pedagogy offers a great learning experience. These professors enjoy worldwide recognition and thus their recommendations are highly valued For someone who is interested in Academics more than jobs, IISc is a very good option. It holds the 35th position globally for providing jobs. Despite being a new course, I will highly recommend you to go for it owing to the tremendous scope of development it has.Read more

Ques. What should I take among IIT Delhi textile, IIT Kharagpur biotechnology, and IIT Guwahati engineering physics?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 10 Apr 23

Ans. The choice of college and branch totally depends on your inclination and career prospects. Yet, a few pointers you might consider  For MBA/ non-core jobs/Startups: IIT Delhi Textile is the best choice if you are looking for any 3 of these options. Its excellent location provides enough exposure to give you access to unimaginable opportunities. Many events hosted by industry experts, CEOs of big companies, and successful entrepreneurs will give a better insight into the startup culture. Moreover, students preparing for competing exams can easily access coaching centers nearby. Research in Biotechnology: If you are interested in research in general or Biotechnology specifically, then the Biotechnology at KGP is an excellent choice. It is one of the most demanding fields in terms of research and general growth. With a good CGPA, you can find a research internship or you can apply for MS or Ph.D. Even job opportunities are plentiful.  Campus: IIT Delhi is better because of its small size and location Lastly, Engineering Physics from IIT Guwahati should be considered only if you are genuinely passionate about Physics and want to pursue a research career in the same. The curriculum comprises high-tech mathematical concepts and is a good option to pursue a career in economics and computer science.Read more
