The curriculum taught here builds a solid base for every engineering student. The courses just brief us about different topics of the real world. The mid sem and end sem exams are conducted after 2 months and 4 months of the start of any semester respectively. The difficulty level of every exam depends to the professor.

IIT Guwahati's campus is a green heaven, surrounded by lush landscapes. The peaceful atmosphere is perfect for studying and relaxing. With plenty of open spaces, students can enjoy walks, study outdoors, or simply bask in nature's beauty.
The campus at IIT Guwahati has excellent facilities for students. It includes modern labs, libraries, sports areas, and accommodation, all designed to meet students' needs. These amenities make campus life comfortable and enriching.

Dislikes

The heavy workload, with assignments, projects, and exams, stress students. Balancing studies with extracurriculars and personal life is be tough.
The academic schedule often limits socializing time on campus. Despite the variety of social opportunities on campus, the demanding academic schedule often leaves students with limited time for socializing.

Course Curriculum Overview:

From the very beginning i was very interested in Computers so that's why i chose Computer Science as my course in IIT Guwahati. This course includes a lot of subjects that make us learn about the real world like DSA, Algorithms, Computer Architecture and many more which are applied in real life. Professor quality can be improved by tougher selection process that i feel is lagging behind. Also exams too place very often due to which learning process is hampered so i think they should be less frequent. Their difficulty level should be increased as some professors just give previous year questions in their exams which is not good.

It's difficult for me to say whether choosing IIT Guwahati CSE over IIT Varanasi CSE was a mistake without more information about your specific circumstances and goals. Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Varanasi are highly respected institutions, and both offer strong Computer Science programs that are rightly comparable in almost every aspect.

The placement scenario is similarly decent at both institutes with very little emphasis on research. The active Coding Club/ CSEA at IIT Guwahati gives it a slight edge over others. Both the institutes are excellent choices for whatever you want to do after graduation be it research, open source development, or a stable job.

The only distinguishing feature is the weather as IIT Guwahati has better weather conditions than IIT BHU. However, this flaw is compensated by better connectivity of Varanasi being on the mainland.

Course structure: IIT Guwahati’s MnC program has a well-structured curriculum with the perfect blend of Computer Science, finance, and Mathematics courses. By the end of the program, you will be eligible to sit for software as well as finance placements. IIT BHU CSE too is known for its flexible course structure with a plethora of electives to choose from.
Coding culture: Undoubtedly, IITBHU has a better coding culture than IIT Guwahati. The ambiance is quite competitive at BHU if that’s what you are after. However, MnC too is gaining popularity and the decreasing opening rank can be seen as a proof of the same.

IIT Hyderabad has better opening JEE ranks than other IITs and despite being new seems more promising. IIT Hyderabad CSE is a well-regarded branch and the opportunities offered are excellent. Although the college is located far from the city, it is well connected with road and rail transport within the city. Here are a few highlights of IIT Hyderabad CSE.

Being new, IIT Hyderabad has young faculties who are zealous and passionate about the field. They are very friendly with diverse areas of expertise.
IIT Hyderabad has an active research environment and there are many ongoing We have many ongoing research projects most of them in collaboration with Japan. Both PG and UG students are encouraged to take part in research.
Despite being a new IIT, it does not lack in terms of infrastructure and facilities and has modern amenities for its students.

It is better to talk to the students of the aforementioned institutes and gather information. You can then make a decision based on the collected data and facts.

Is IIT Patna CSE is better or mathematics and computing at IIT Guwahati?

Whether IIT Patna CSE is better or MnC at IIT Guwahati, depends on what you want to do after your graduation.

If you have an interest in pure and abstract Math and want to do research in Maths, theoretical computer science, Set theory, Group Theory, and Complexity Theory, then the IIT Guwahati MnC program is the best for you.

However, if you have an interest in coding and want to become a competitive programmer, or a software developer, and research in areas other than Theoretical Computer Science, then IIT Patna CSE is the right choice for you. Extensive research on every CS field is done here.

Basically, the academic workload of the MnC program at IIT Guwahati is too much with a very rigid curriculum that will spare you no time to focus on coding. You get an additional degree in just one or two years
You don’t have to sit for another entrance exam like GATE

Now, Maths at IITs is very high level and not what you studied in JEE. For those who think of taking MnC just for its CS courses, let me warn you it will be the worst decision ever. It’s better to go for CS in newer IITs like Hyderabad and Indore than to take MnC at IIT Guwahati.

However, MnC is a great choice if you have a genuine interest in pure mathematics. It’s better to talk to someone who has taken this course before and enquire about the Math curriculum. From what I know, Math at IITs comprises lengthy proofs of Mathematical Induction, sets and relation theory, etc. It’s an excellent choice if you want to pursue research in the same. However, I will still repeat, MnC is not a substitute for CS.

I always find comparing two branches very illogical because the entire purpose of branches is to cater to the interests of different people. One stream might be good for you but not for the other and vice versa.

An electrical engineer works with impressive technologies like microprocessors or communication systems. A computer engineer on the other hand achieves great things through his computer. It’s better to read about machine learning classification.

Some students prefer judging colleges on the basis of the kind of environment they offer. Both IIT Bombay and IIT Guwahati have a great academic environment and offer excellent exposure. Both the colleges are good in all aspects like placements, location, and academics. Don’t follow the trends and standards set by society and follow what your heart says!
