Faculty:

Many faculties are either from JNU or have fone Phd from abroad. Faculty is really supportive be it academic or non academic issues. Their way of delivering lectures is quite different. Overall, my experience with the faculties has been really good.

Campus Life:

As a student from DU, I would say that campus life is not very active. Students are not involved in fests, protests etc. As for facilities, I feel there are a few unnecessary luxuries. There is an indoor gym, badminton court, cricket field.

Campus life at NIT Rourkela is a dream life for students. There are innumerable opportunities if we talk about co-curricular activities in college. There are a number of fests but the annual fest is conducted in the month of March ie Nitrutsav and the tech fest is named Innovisionwhich is being conducted during the month of November. Apart from these two, there are other fests and activities such as cosmopolitan fest, foundation day, sports day. Students can be part of clubs such as Aasra, aakriti, ICS, Synergy, Chitraang, etc to freshen up and rejoice during free time apart from studies There is a central library in the midst of the college campus named Biju Pattnaik Central Library and a reading room that is totally air-conditioned. It has a huge collection of books, journals and everything which is required by a student. Any student in NIT can access tons of books through the library e-portal too. The portal currently provides access to all subscribed e-books, print books, etc.

Remarks:

I choose NIT Rourkela because of its eminence in Higher learning. Admission to our institute will start around July and classes will start from August. Reason for choosing this college over others is because of the course I was looking for was provided by our institute. And learning something from an institute of National importance is very critical in case of career.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I choose was Development studies, basically an inter disciplinary subject with lot of career options. 1:14 is our student faculty ratio. And we got NIRF ranking of 2 among all the NIT. All faculty members are very dedicated and hold a PhD.Exams are quite difficult. But if you put enough effort, it just a piece of cake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course syllabus basically involved stuff related to the western himalayas which I found very restrictive. I have started online classes as of now. There are many assignments, presentations, book review, response paper, research paper. In short, they have made sure we cuss them alot because seriously there has been a lot of burden.

Remarks:

The brand name Indian institute of technology attracted me to this college. I am doing post graduation here in development studies. Ques. How is MA Development Studies at NIT Rourkela?

● Top Answer By Muktesh Shukla on 05 Sept 23

The disadvantage of this college is that you only concentrate on your respective subject. You don’t get enough time to prepare for other competitive exams because of the workload. So try to get admission to a humanity-oriented college for a better futureRead more
