IIT Patna Admissions 2024
IIT Patna admission in more than 40 UG & PG Courses is offered via various national-level exams. For admission to the IIT Patna flagship B.Tech program, applicants are required to secure a valid rank in JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling. Allocation of seats for the B.Tech course is done online via JoSAA counselling, based on the applicant’s rank, category, availability of seats, and other factors.
IIT Patna also offers admission to PG courses such as M.Tech, M.Sc, etc. To secure a seat in these popular programs, students should obtain valid scores in the national-level entrance exams including IIT JAM, and GATE, followed by the PI round. IIT Patna Scholarships 2024
- For both UG and PG students, IIT Patna offers the Merit Cum Means Scholarships and other numerous scholarships under the Central Scheme Scholarships to help them financially and cover their academic costs. The following list includes a few of the institute's scholarships.
- Merit Cum Means Scholarship: IIT Patna provides MCM scholarships to deserving and needy undergraduate and graduate students participating in 2-year M.Sc. programs. I searched college comparisons based on my jee advanced ranks. The admission process and course allocation were done online by Jossa. Fee submission was made online by the student portal of IITP. I only had to verify the documents offline. As this college was giving me Electronics and Electrical Engineering on my Rank and the placement status, faculty, and various other amenities available, I chose to opt for it.

- Provide 15 days campus immersion, so that we can meet new friends and provide chance to participate in other fields like games, singing, etc

- Class size is huge so sometime difficult to ask the doubts and doubts session are so long, get very less chance to ask question in detailed way.
- Only 15 day campus immersion that is very short time so fails to connect new people and fails to explore new opportunities with college and there is very busy schedule.
Admission:
Admission process was too easy. A students must be qualified in national exams like Jee Mains, Jee Advance, CUET,NEET, etc. We got application form on official site of IIT Patna and there was no application fees and we need mail the documents to provided sites and those were verified on video calls. For final we need to go to IIT Patna to get identity cards and for final verification. Those students failed to go, they got their identity cards through post office. The exams are held each semester and they can be attempted online and offline during campus immersion. Assignments and Quiz are provided online on their official website. Difficulty level of assignments are high but exams are moderately difficult.

Admission happens through IIT JEE Advance examination. There is no other option to avail admission. One has to qualify 12th examination with minimum 75% also. All the required information, documents and details are shared via Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) after JEE Advance Examination. Reservation is as per government of india rules. Exams are regularly taken to evaluate students knowledge and skills. Generally, 2 quizzes, 2 viva, 1 term exam and 1 final exam is taken for a course.

The only way to get into my course is qualifying JEE Advanced. First, you give JEE Mains, and then you give Advanced. Cutoff varies on the basis of category. The Mains isnconducted twice a year, while Advanced once a year. I don't remember the application fee, but it's minimal.

To be eligible to enter IIT Patna one has to qualify for JEE Advanced. After that, you can get IITs along with branches on the basis of your rank and your choice filling. In this process, reservation is given to OBC, SC, ST and General EWS. My course is not much difficult and I enjoy my course

IIT Patna offers the Merit Cum Means Scholarships and other various scholarships under Central Scheme Scholarships for both UG and PG students to assist them financially and meet their academic expenditures. Some of the scholarships offered at the institute are as follows.
Merit Cum Means Scholarship:
- IIT Patna offers the MCM scholarships to the meritorious and needy students enrolled in the UG program or 2-year M.Sc program.
- In order to be eligible for the MCM Scholarship, a student should have a minimum SPI/CPI of 6.50 along with an annual family income not exceeding INR 4.5 lakhs.
- As an award of MCM Scholarship, students receive a sum of INR 1000 per month for 2 semesters and a free tuition fee.
Top Class Education Scheme for SC students:
- The Scholarship is specifically designed to promote quality education among the SC students by supporting them financially.
- A total of 12 scholarships are offered at IIT Patna among the SC students whose annual family income is less than INR 6 lakhs.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students
- The Scholarship is funded by MHRD, Department of Higher Education, and is available for UG students.

She claimed that IIT Patna had a better research culture and the professors get work published in very good journals, A/A* conferences, etc. The professors motivate the students for the same and this aspect attracted him the most. However, your personal preferences also come to play here. So consider the following points
- If you want to complete your Ph.D. quickly, JU will serve you better.
- If you are ready to commit yourself to hard work and increase your publications gradually with your knowledge and time
- IIT Patna students get 2.5lacs per student to go to any conference at a tenure of 5 years.
- If you want to enjoy college life in addition to research work then JU is better. The college ambiance is great with a dynamic city life.

What should I choose, CS in IIT Patna or civil in IIT Bombay?
Both IIT Patna and IIT Bombay are well-reputed institutes in India. The CSE department is renowned for its experienced faculty, rich alumni network, best placement support, and effective classes. The courses in the Computer Science and Electronics department include compilers, machine learning, computer learning, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and so on. Students are given both theoretical and practical knowledge. IIT Patna also has club support from the CSE field, namely NJ GATH, and Robotics. The students can effectively explore their ideas in this respective field in an innovative way. The alumni network of the CSE department is fabulous, as they give much support to the students in their studies. The opportunities are far better in the CS field than in civil engineering. So you can opt for IIT Patna.
Which is better-studying at IIST or at new IITs (like IIT Hydrabad, IIT Patna etc.)?
At IIST, most of the students are inclined towards ISRO. Even if you are interested in it, you might lose interest in the latter half of your bachelor's and then may regret your decision because IIST has very limited career options. That being said, look for an institute that caters to a variety of career prospects so that your options aren't limited.
Considering the new IITs, both IIT Hyderabad and IIT Patna show promising results. I have a friend in IIT Patna and after a long conversation with him, I realized it has a plethora of opportunities both in terms of placements as well as higher education.
The placement scenario at IIT Patna is great and has been improving every year.
- IIT Patna has all big shot companies for placements like Microsoft, Amazon, Cisco, Samsung R&D, UHG, Practo, Yodlee, Flipkart, Arista Networks, Texas Instruments, Finisar, Tata Motors, L&T, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bank of America, etc.
- For those who prefer a stable job, many PSUs like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, HPCL, DRDO, Coal India, etc come for recruitment here.
- If you are among the top 1% of your batch you can get placed in companies like Google and Facebook, the pay scale of which is the highest you can get.
- The small batch size increases the probability of getting more placements in top companies than old IITs with huge batch sizes.
Prospects for higher education:

What is the preference order of taking CSE: BITS Pilani, NIT Trichy (or other NITs), ISM Dhanbad, IIT Patna (or other new IITs), IIIT Hyderabad, and DTU (or any other college)?
It is always better not to choose IIT Patna if you are looking for a good academic life. As we know, IIT Patna is one of the leading institutes in advancement and infrastructure, but they are weak in academics, good faculty, and placement support. Here are some points that substantiate my statement about IIT Patna
Faculty – IIT Patna has only less qualified faculties who do not have sufficient knowledge about the subjects and are not interested in teaching. Other IITs have far better faculties when compared with Patna Placement Support – IIT Patna is not up to the mark when it comes to placement support. Only 40% of students get placement here, and it varies based on the batches. Other Branches – They are more struggling than the students from the CSE department as they are not satisfied with the internship programs and only a few got placement So it is better to choose other IITs, BITS, or NITs for CSE other than IIT Patna.What is a good priority order for CSE among IIT Ropar, IIT Bhubaneswar, and IIT Patna?
IIT Patna should be prioritized over IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Ropar for CSE. It is because IIT Patna has taken a great leap forward in the domain of coding culture. It provides better research facilities and opportunities for placements in reputed companies. The placement scenario at IIT Bhubaneswar is also quite good, in 2019 there was a 100% placement form CSE. However, there is a considerable shortage of faculty in IIT Bhubaneswar.
Furthermore, IIT Patna has marked its distinction in ACM ICPC (Olympics of Coding). The institute was successfully able to reach the world finals twice. This clearly illustrates the excellent coding culture at IIT Patna, which is undoubtedly unparalleled. The institute has also performed quite well in Robocon and in various IIT Tech Meets. According to 2019 placement highlights, a total of 50 students got placed from CSE with an average package of 16.76 LPA. Students from the institute have been successful in securing their place in reputed universities like Stanford University, University of New South Wales, University of Tokyo, including other eminent institutes.
On the other hand, IIT Ropar is new among IITs and its placement statistics are not as good as of the other two colleges. So, the precedence order should be IIT Patna, followed by IIT Bhubaneswar, followed by IIT Ropar. Although the NIRF ranking(for 2019) of IIT Bhubaneswar (ranked at 17) is better than IIT Patna(ranked at 22), the CSE department of IIT Patna is better than that of IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Patna CSDA (Computer Science and Data Analytics) course is a 6 semester duration course. The per semester fee is INR 46 thousand. This is the fee of students admitted during 2024 (Autumn Season).
