Should I take IIT Gandhinagar CSE or IIT Guwahati ECE?

The choice of the institute between IIT Gandhinagar CSE and IIT Guwahati ECE depends if you want to follow the branch of your interest or want just go for the brand name of the institute.

If you value a branch more than a brand then go for the institute that offers the branch of your choice. If you are inclined towards CSE, then go for IIT Gandhinagar without much hesitation. Despite being a new IIT, it offers the IT tag and education at par with most IITs. Don’t let the fact that it’s a new IIT demotivate you. The students maketh the college and not vice versa.

But if you are bothered by the brand value and are hesitant about joining a new IIT, then go for IIT Guwahati.

You should take IIT Gandhinagar CSE. It is one of the fastest-growing IIT, and offers good opportunities for placements and internships. According to the placement highlights of IIT Gandhinagar, each year around 80% of students get placed from CSE. The average CTC offered is around INR 18 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 40 LPA. Adani, Goldman Sachs, Infosys, Tata are some of the major recruiters for the CSE branch.

CSE Gandhinagar is a better option than ECE Guwahati and the main factor is the branch. Both the branches are totally different irrespective of the fact that you can learn to code in ECE. You will be given some coding knowledge in the ECE branch but then CSE is all not only about coding. It’s a way beyond that. CSE has all structures of mathematics which includes statistics, logic, algebra, probability, calculus, and much more.

Below mentioned are some courses offered in CSE.

CS 321: Algorithm analysis and design
CS 322: Discrete mathematics
CS 324: Devising interactive web applications
CS 421: Information security
CS 422: Data mining
CS 424: Sensors, phones, and cloud computation applied to hazard mitigation
CS 425: Introduction to computational complexity theory
CS 426: Markov chains and queuing models
CS 427: Reliability engineering and many others

Apart from the branch, Both the colleges are exceptionally good. IIT Gandhinagar is a well-established college. Whereas IIT Guwahati is a college that is nearly 14 years older than IIT Gandhinagar.

Talking about the branches, CSE has been in the trend. The demand for software engineers is constantly growing with the evolution of Artificial Intelligence(AI), Machine Learning(ML), and Data Science. The placements are decent. Plus, IIT Gandhinagar is one of the prime institutes that furnishes all the exciting opportunities applicable for a student's overall growth.
