IIT Guwahati Placement 2024 will be updated here soon. IIT Guwahati Placement 2023 final report has been released. As per the placement report released by IIT Guwahati, the highest international package of INR 2.4 CPA, and the highest domestic package of INR 1.2 CPA. A total of 246 major companies from IT/Software, Finance, and Non-Tech Profile sectors received the most placements, followed by the Core Engineering, Design, and Education sectors. The percentage of companies with an overall placement rate of 78.04% showed approximately 37% increase. With a placement rate of 89.66%, MDes had the highest placement rate of all programs.
In the IIT Guwahati Placements, the highest package for UG Courses remained INR 2.40 CPA for the BTech CSE program, with more than 769 students receiving placement offers. A total of 215 PPOs were offered to IIT Guwahati candidates. The highest CTC offered to MTech/M.Des students is INR 57.70 LPA. Some of the top recruiters included HPCL, Navi, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Schlumberger, Piramal, TVS R&D, GAIL, etc.

From 3rd semester and 4semseter you can apply for campus placements. For msc physics majority Ed tech companies are comes to hire like Allen, resonance, narayana etc . Almost 95% students placed who applied for placements.

- Many proffesor are rude. They always demotivate you and make you feel that you e nothing.

Nowadays, placement scenario are very bad. Company came but didn't hired or if hired then they fired. Many company visit for internship as well as placement. From 7th semester, campany come for placement. Mostly student should be more than 7+ cgpa but still some camp any came for 6+cgpa.

Placements of iit are good always but in recent times reccesion has arrived. I think in 3 years we get PPO and job offers. I don't know much about companies I don't have official placement data but 2.4 CR was the highest 73 per cent placed. I want to do a job

- The placements for M.Sc mathematics and computing students are very good here with good percentage of students placed.
- The course structure of M.sc mathematics and computing is very placement supportive and interesting.

- There is only ceiling fans in hostel room so in summers it may be a bit discomfort to you.
- There are a lot of mosquitos during summers so it is the most annoying thing I felt.
Placement Experience:
The on campus placement of this course are good with an average package of 13.6 lakhs. There are various roles in which you can get placed that is software development, data science, teaching etc. around 70% of students get placed. Many good companies such as Google Microsoft Amazon etc. comes here for recruitment

After your third year is completed then companies starts vising the campus for recruitment . companies like Google , Microsoft , oracle , Uber and many more visits the campus.the highest package offered this year was around 1.2 crore and the average package was around 25 lakhs.this year around 62 percent students got placed.after getting the degree I will do the job allocated to me during the placement.If you are not getting any on campus placement then you have to apply for off campus.

in my college placement is quite good off couse because is is an IIT the most respectable college in my college last year highest pacage is 2.4 crore and averege is 26 lakhs per year and 84 percentage students are placed

Mtech students Are eligible for the placement in there 2nd year. Almost 400+ companies visited this year for placement here 2023-24 batch. 824 student till date are placed out of 1400 students. Highest package domestic was 1cr and international was 2.4 cr for this placement 2023-24 season. 76% of the students got placed this year. To join the job as I got placed in SCA technologies

Generally placements at IIT Guwahati is Quite better than other IITs . Here many students get internships in their 3rd year btech irrespective of their branch if they have coding skills & projects . Avg CTC is 22 LPA 92% placed My plan after getting degree is to prepare for UPSC

- The Campus is very beautiful and mesmerizing. If you come here you are very lucky to see the most beautiful campus in India. It feels like you are in heaven.
- Placement is quite good here. I would say in terms of placement, it is better than IITB even.
Dislikes
- Faculty here are not that great. Most of the time, you have to labor hard and depend on yourself.
- The location of the college is screwed. Going to the city is a bit tasky so you donot have the option to visit the city frequently.
Placement Experience:
Companies start to come for placements when you are in the third year of college and do come till the 4th year. You also have a chance for PPO if you have a good internship. For the details of placement, please refer to the official website and donot believe any third pary. You will get all details there how many offers made and what companies came etc. I am not very sure what to do after the degree, but I am inclined towards pursuing higher education.

How is the mechanical department at IIT Guwahati? How are the placements and the campus life?
The Mechanical Department is one of the departments at IIT Guwahati that is actively involved in research, competitions (robotics, automobile development, etc.), academics, and so on. It is also one of the largest departments in terms of faculty, Ph.D. scholarships, and available equipment. Almost all of the professors are friendly and eager to assist students.
Placements in IIT Guwahati's mechanical engineering department are very good for B.tech students, with 87% of students placed in PSUs and core companies this year. The rest went into software development, analytics, marketing, and research. As of now, this department has never looked more alive. The campus is an undeniable beauty that will provide an unforgettable experience. Which college has better placements: IIT BHU vs IIT Guwahati vs DTU?
It’s highly illogical to compare the likes of IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati with DTU. You cannot compare a tier-1 with a tier-2 college. IITs are home to the best minds of the country and the crowd IITs attract cannot be compared to an institute like DTU. The faculty pool is refined and highly learned at IIts that are recruited through a rigorous process. IITs are funded by the central government and the campus and facilities are at another level.

Do PhD candidates in IIT Guwahati get placements?
One of my relatives has done his PhD from IIT Guwahati and he shared his experience of the same. PhD and placements don’t go hand in hand as the goal of most PhD students is to research work and not get employed. IITs and IISc especially have very few job opportunities for Ph.D. students. Very few students around 3-4 from every department complete their Ph.D. every year.
My uncle told me he had 3 offers before submission. In IIT, it usually takes 4–6 months to get thesis review after submission, and an additional month for final defense. A few students get PostDoc and even job offers from foreign universities and companies.
All in all, it takes 5-7 years to get a Ph.D. degree but mostly the placements are satisfactory. My uncle too has become an assistant professor at IIT Guwahati.
Why are the placements at IIT Guwahati so poor as compared to other IITs?
The placement scenario of only a few IITs is considered good. Some of these include IIT Delhi, Kanpur, Bombay, Kgp, and Madras.
Although these IITs witness intense competition in placements, the fact that some tech giants only visit these IITs makes their placement scenario better than other IITs. A few of the top companies include Google, Apple, Uber, Facebook, etc. Many consulting giants such as Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, AT Kearney, etc. offer roles in finance, software, banking, investment banking, etc. These roles are offered in plenty around 30-60 at these IITs. Other companies do visit other IITs and the salary offered is also similar.

IIT Guwahati's mechanical engineering department placement percentage stood at 74.73%. A few Public sector companies like Indian Oil Corporation, Nuclear Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL), etc, have also recruited candidates. Why do so few companies from Consulting, Banks and FMCGs visit campus for placements and internships in IIT-Guwahati?
Very few positions for UG students are opened by top consulting firms like McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, and Bain and Company. Most of these openings are filled by the crème students of top IITs like IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. These companies have long-standing associations with these institutes and trust their credibility better than other IITs. They don’t feel the need to expand their non-openings to other IITs as they aren’t sure of the quality of students there.
Also, companies tend to hire high rankers which are in plenty at these top IITs. IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, and IIT KGP rarely have exceptionally high rankers like IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay.
As far as banks and companies that hire for Quant Analyst positions are concerned, the MnC program is slowly attracting good offers. Recently even Goldman Sachs visited and other companies like WorldQuant, and Deutsche Bank are expected to follow.
