Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

For an NIT, I would consider it to be affordable, especially for EWS students
Multiple scholarships options are available
Big campus and good college culture of student-prof. interaction

Dislikes

Mess food can be pretty bad and low quality in terms of nutrition
Administrative processes can be slow and will often clash with class timings
Industrial/Practical learning is low and semesters can feel too fast

Placement Experience:

You can sit for campus placements from 7th semester onwards. Before that there are many on campus internship opportuinities which very often result in PPOs. Approx. 70% placement can be expected in each brach. Highest salary can go upto 50+ lpa

Overview of NIT Durgapur

Likes

Campus is good. Professors are highly educated.
Good coding culture and placement opportunities on campus.
Nescafe, canteens are there to fill our stomach.

Dislikes

The not provide single rooms for BTech students.
Very less places are available in durgapur to visit
Hostel mess food is average. Bad for non Bengali students.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement percentage is good here in NIT Durgapur. But for core branches, the packages sometimes very less. Students are eligible from the 3rd year itself to sit for an internship and from 7th semester, they can sit for campus placements.

the campus placement is so good when it comes to circuital branches but if we talk about non circuital branches then it it decent average 9-10 lpa but if you work hard then obviuosly you will get higher than that after 6th sem you will eligible for campus placement many big tech giants like microsoft,amazon,oracle,j.p morgan,flipkart and other companies like pwc,reliance,mahindra etc many companies visits there every year and offer a good number of offers if i do not consider the recession period in 2023 then the placement percentge is greater than 78

The college campus and infrastructure is very clean well maintained
The environment is very good, serene and calm in the campus and the students are studious creating a competitive ambiance in the college and some of the faculties are good at teaching.
The laboratory and the departments are well equipped and maintained, good ppts designed by the faculties is provided which is helpful for studies

Dislikes

The faculties are too bad at teaching most of them just come in the class project ppts and leave the class some even don't even do that they comes in the class teach something which we can't understand and we have to study ourselves from the youtube
After all rules and regulations some students don't obey them, some students are very indiscipline they don't even care the faculties too they consume cigarettes,alcohol,ganja in the campus too.
Although there are a lot of rules and regulations and presence of anti-ragging officers in the campus, ragging still happens in the college

Placement Experience:

Students generally start getting their pre-placement offers from their 3rd year after completion of their internships other students gets their placement too in their final year. Starting from Apple to Google and Microsoft too hired some of our senior but the number of the students get placed in those tech giant companies is very less but there are mass recruiters too like TCS infosys PW chaitanya education TATA steel BHARAT petroleum and many other companies the offers are made based upon the eligibility of the students and the packages are decided based on the skillset and experience of the students . Highest package was 70 LPA this year and the average packages are also pretty good based upom the companies and their offers it ranges from 15-30 LPA .Almost 80-83% students gets placed but it depends on the branch of the students and their skillsets.I want to sit for GATE exam after completion of my BTech and want to persue MTech

Strictness toward attendance . It keeps us disciplined
Fest and club . It looks after our extra curriculum or all round development
No dress code . Its is obviously a good side

Dislikes

Lack of sport facilities . There is no swimming pool
Sir tends to give less grade even you perform well
Campus is not beautiful compared to other nits

LIFE AT NIT DURGAPUR - PROS AND CONS

the ambience the environment and surrounding here is very beautiful
the different club activities all round the year are very engaging
the education culture including the professors are very nice

Dislikes

the transport system is not favorable and is difficult to travel

the students are provided with good internships from 2nd year onwards and the placement cell of the college is working very efficiently to bring the best companies to the campus.the placement per year is upto 85% with some of the best companies recruiting here. the avg package is 9 lpa and the highest offered package is of 70 lpa

the faculty is highly experienced and well qualified and many of them are holding advanced degrees they are engaging mentorship is very strong
the placement facilities are very strong with companies like google amazon and microsoft the career development is very proactive resume building workshops`
the campus is equipped with modren facilities

Dislikes

the girls and boys ratio will be around 1:5
the campus is equipped with old infrastructure hostles and classrooms should be modrenized
the academics can be sometimes overwhelming

Placement Experience:

placements at nit durgapur are very strong eligibility begins after the 6th semester. in some cases cgpa should be higher regarding the company companies. that visit are amazon ,oracle ,adobe ,tcs ,seimens .highest package is between 50 to 70 lpa and average package is between 10 to 15 lpa .plans after degee are higher studies.

NIT Durgapur........

Likes

The course and the faculty of our department were excellent.
The college had quite few canteens and lot of wonderful places we could enjoy .
The facilities provided in girls the hostel were wonderful.

Dislikes

The placement for our batch was not upto the mark compared to other batches of our college.

Placement Experience:

Placements were usually very good of like almost around 90-95% of the department would get placed but due to recession during our batch the placement of our department has fallen to 70%.Microsoft usually visits us for both full time and internship along with PPO but this year the full time hiring was frozen so they could only provide PPOs .

Beautiful chapter of everyone's life - college life

Likes

The class timings because we don't have any hectic schedule, and also sufficient time is given to complete assignments.
College fests we have enjoyed and stalls during the fest the food was good
Library facilities and newspaper, magazines , story books also available

Dislikes

Some faculty are very strict and very serious
The buildings in college are far from eachother. We have to Walk a lot
Placements are little less during our course

Placements were quite good in Nit Durgapur. But due to recession in 2024 we got less placements. The highest package is 50lpa in Microsoft. And the average package is 7lpa or sometimes 10lpa. The statistics of placements vary every year. We get companies like microsoft, amazon, Texas Instruments, hero, Amadocs and also PSU 's like Beml, BPCL, Hcl, etc.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
