Assessment, Measurement, and Testing Relating to Evaluation. There is often confusion between the terms: assessment, measurement, and evaluation. The following descriptions help define the differences. Assessment Assessment is the process that shows whether there has been a change in student’s performance in a certain academic area. The change revealed through assessment can be given a value by quantifying procedures referred to as educational measurement. Measurement Measurement is the means of determining the degree of achievement of a particular objective or competency. For example, the outcomes for individual students are measured (using assessments) to see if the student has met the outcomes. Evaluation In the above context, evaluation is the process of making a value judgment based on the information gathered through measurement and testing. Evaluation of a curriculum occurs so that the developers can accept, change, or eliminate various parts of a curriculum. Thank you so much.

Our college has its own curriculum, which I find highly relevant and comprehensive, rating it 8/10. It's designed by skilled professionals within our institution. They incorporate additional technology-related activities, aiding students in their further education. We have two semesters annually, each with one midterm exam, which is manageable if we attend lectures regularly and stay on top of our work.During the initial two semesters, our college integrates labs related to all branches of study. Only a handful of colleges offer the option to change branches, with NIT Durgapur being one of them. This opportunity, available in the first year, can greatly assist students in transitioning to their desired branch of study.

Doing B.Tech in any stream is itself one of the toughest courses to do. But the ones who are eager to take challenges in life and want to improve by doing so always love accepting the challenges that come in front of them. After completing B.Tech you will be an engineer who has graduated from an institute of National importance. The academics of B.Tech will let you solve every technical, and non-technical problems because as an engineer your main motto of life will always be to ease the complexity of life through machines, and technologies. In the process, you will tackle many problems, find their solutions and be able to contribute to society. However, it's not only about practical applications in college, you need to mug up a lot of theory before exams and vomit it during exams. Also, there were uncountable assignments you will write for 4 years which is a little laborious for us. After completing 4 years of engineering,it is certain that you will find yourself in a much better position.

I chose civil engineering over other streams is the real life application and innovative approach of the subject. Faculty involved in this stream are highly qualified, always cheerful and have a positive outlook towards their students. One will be able to grasp the concepts way too easily due to their lucid style of teaching. In civil engineering 2020-24 batch the student ratio is approximately 22 female to 51 male and this ratio is more or less consistent throughout the years. So, there were two exams in a semester namely midterm and Endterm along with continous assessment throughout the semester. Midterm is of 25 marks and end term is of 60 marks rest includes in Continous assessment. Question in exams are in accordance to what is being taught in the class and if one regularly follows the course passing the course is a cakewalk.

In the first and second semesters in total 8 sections were made, each consisting of around 110 - 120 students. Each section had students from all the branches as the course is the same for all during the entire first year. Based on the previous year's placement stats, I tried to get the best branch and could get Civil as the best option because of my rank. The faculties at NIT Durgapur are quite good with good knowledge on the subject and there is a mix of young and old professors. The classrooms being used for the first years have good infra but lack the appropriate system of mics and speakers that should be used for such large classrooms. The classrooms to date have a chalk and blackboard system which is in no way visible from the last benches in such a large classroom. The first semester had a mid-semester exam in October and end end-semester exam in December as planned by the calendar previously. The exams were conducted on time and the evaluation was also done nicely.

I choose this course because I want a government job in this sector (in PSUs), through GATE. Faculty to student ratio is close to 16:1. Professors are highly qualified here, they have in-depth knowledge of their particular feild, but their teaching techniques are not good, and most of them don't know how to interact with students. Exams are conducted on time, and they are easy to score.

I am interested in civil engineering so I have chosen this course and in the counseling process I got this branch, our strength is 100 and we almost have 7 professors, the faculties here are very good and most of them did their MTech in different IITs, term exams were little tough but studying in a consistent way gives us decent results.

The curriculum is good and the professors are supportive enough to encourage you in your studies as well as in the overall development as well for the research areas. Examinations are fair enough to be passed by performing well. The faculty is nice and qualified.
