IIT Palakkad MS (by Research) admission 2024 is open. The last date to apply for the program is April 27, 2024. The institute will release the shortlisted candidates on between 15th May and 25 May 2024. Admission to this course is based on the personal interview conducted by the institute. The interview is scheduled to take place between 25th May 2024 and 15th June 2024. 

IIT Palakkad offers an MS program in 5 different specialisations namely Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Candidates must have a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Sciences or a Master's degree in sciences with a valid GATE score in a relevant discipline. Along with this, students with an exceptionally good academic record in an eligible discipline provided they have a minimum CGPA of 8.0 are eligible for the IIT Palakkad MS program.

IIT Palakkad MS Eligibility Criteria 

  • Students must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Sciences or a Master’s degree in Sciences with a valid GATE score in a relevant discipline.
  • Candidates must have secured a minimum CGPA of 8.0 (7.5 for OBC- NCL and 7.0 for SC/ST/PwD) in Engineering/Technology/Sciences
  • Candidates with a good academic record, having memberships in professional bodies, approved by MoE/UGC/AICTE, are also eligible for admission to the MS program of their parent discipline provided they have a valid GATE score and have passed both part A and part B of the membership examinations.
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree are eligible to apply for the MS “Project-NHTRA” category. Under this scheme, the candidate does not need to have a valid GATE score.

IIT Palakkad MS Selection Process

Candidates who possess the minimum educational qualifications will be called for an interview and/ or test by the Selection Committee. All applicants should submit their statement of Purpose where the list of preferences should be mentioned, and the SOP must not exceed 500 words. Based on the academic record, and the performance of the candidates in the interview and/ or test, the Selection Committee will announce the names of the selected candidates for admission. 

Admissions to the MS course at IIT Palakkad are based on the cutoff list prepared by the institute. The cutoff lists are based on respective entrance examination marks.

  2. Go through the notifications and register yourself on the COAP 2024 website before applying in this portal.
  3. Create an account for yourself in the portal using the link.
  4. Check your mail. You should receive a welcome email.
  5. Login with your username and password credentials.
  6. Fill all your personal details.
  7. Fill all the qualification details. In case you have multiple qualifications, keep filling them one by one. 
  8. Fill Your GATE details. In case of multiple GATE, keep filling them one by one.
  9. Apply for your preferred course. You can also choose your existing GATE and Qualification details while applying.
  10.  Upload all the necessary documents.
  11.  Verify all the filled data in your profile using the ‘View Profile’ option. Make the changes, if any, and do the final submission.
  12.  Pay the application fee online.
  13.  Download your application form after the payment.

IIT Palakkad MS Scholarships

Establish an MCM Scholarship for 25% of the sanctioned intake/admitted strength, whichever is less. The full tuition fee will be waived in this case, along with a monthly payment of Rs. 1000/-.

There are Scholarships under Prof. Valsakumar Memorial Scholarships for M.Sc. Physics Students: 

  • One student will receive a Merit Award, which includes a certificate of appreciation and Rs. 5000/- in prize money.
  • Only one student gets Prof. Valsakumar Merit cum Means Scholarship of Rs.35000/- per semester.

Ques. How are the hostel facilities at IIT Palakkad?

Ans. IIT Palakkad's temporary and Nila campuses have three hostels each. The hostels have attached washrooms in every room. Food is served to the students in the respective dining halls of both campuses by a common mess. The mess halls have televisions with DTH connections. Heavy-duty washing machines and water dispensers with RO purifiers are provided in all the hostels.
