I chose Instrumentation engineering keeping in mind the current state of semiconductor industry in India.I would say that the curriculum is a little backdated compared to what professionals are looking for today. To improve it,they need to include relevant elective subjects as subject choices before every semester. The frequency of exams is determined by the professor.Generally, there are two class tests and one midsemester and endsemester exams in each semester.

The curriculum is designed to be in favour of students. The course allows flexibility to access interdisciplinary courses. The course also has access to core placements which have a lower competition as compared to other core fields in the semiconductor industry. The difficulty level of the course can vary from medium to hard, depending on some of the subjects. The exams are conducted for all the departments at the same time, i.e. mid-semester exams after which there is the end-semester exams each semester.

Why i chose this course: Instrumentation Engineering in IIT kgp and everywhere else is a circuital branch which is much better than non circuital branches for placement aspect. Also it comes under Electrical Engineering department which also means circuits, signals and all sorts of interesting subjects but still less loaded than electrical branch. Faculty:student ration in iit kgp is 1:19 Faculty in iit kgp are highly qualified all of them having their phd from another or the same iit. Teaching method is also quite nice though in some cases it may vary course to course. Term exams are absolutely timely. there is never any delay. it is not that difficult to pass atleast in first year.

I chose Instrumentation Engineering, which comes under the Electrical Engineering Department, purely out of my love for the subject. The faculty to student ratio is quite good, as there are only 40 students in my branch. The faculty members are very well qualified and have thorough knowledge of the subjects.

I had enough interest in Physics, especially electrical circuits generate my curiocity. so I chose such a subject that has the exposue to work with electrical circuits and large industry based application. So I chose Instrumentation Engineering. Faculty student ratio is good enough 6:1. faculty members can pay attention to all students enough. All our professors are highly qualified, all of them are atleast PHd holders of renowned institutes of India. Most of them are working on various government projects. Teaching method is nice as we can avail digital class and classical classroom simultaneously. In IIT Kharagpur there are two semesters per year. In per semester we have one Mid Semester exam and one End semseter exam. Before each of the mid sem and end sem there is class tests for each subject held centrally through computer based test. Questions are sometimes really tough, but if classes are attended perfectly or syllabus is completed exam papes are not so tough.

The faculty members are outstanding and humble, with solid academic backgrounds. They permanently solve our doubts per their best limits, and the exams are also held at the time. You can score a great CGPA if you study well from the beginning of the semester. The faculty ratio is 6:1.

It was a circuital course and the only circuital branch I was getting by my rank.Faculty: student ratio is 1:40.All professors have phd and post doc qualifications mostly from foreign universities. Exams are very timely.

Faculty members are so good here and 6:1 students and faculty ratio is present there and they are very good professors from the study ground and they always very helpful to us and here the examinations are very held timefully and if you study well and regularly then you will surely get 9-10 cgpa in each semester

I have choosen B.tech in Instrumentation Engineering because since class 12 I had keen interest in electrostatics and Electrodynamics. In a section there are approximately 180 students and for one course subject there is one main professor and 2 to 3 Teaching Assistants. The main professor is a PhD and has done research works in their topics. The teaching assistants are either one of M.tech or PhD students. There are mainly two main exams in a semester the Mid-Sem and End-Sems and in between there are class tests. If you have studied well for JEE it will not be difficult for you to pass.
