My overall experience at IIT Kharagpur is great. The campus life is happening and makes up for the remote campus location. The societies are pretty active too.
Campus area is too big ,I should say Campus is Huge with an area of 2100 acres.It is fun to explore the roads and cycle along then in night.

Dislikes

The huge area of Campus requires us to cycle 3km everyday in the morning to reach class.
Food of mess is something which I would say needs to be improved.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose Instrumentation Engineering, which comes under the Electrical Engineering Department, purely out of my love for the subject. The faculty to student ratio is quite good, as there are only 40 students in my branch. The faculty members are very well qualified and have thorough knowledge of the subjects.

Class Size : 40Course Fees : INR 300000 per year

Internships Opportunities :

The internship opportunities open officially through the Career Development Centre portal, in the pre-final year of graduation. A lot of companies visit our campus, hiring for multiple roles in various fields.

Placement Experience :

Placements at IIT Kharagpur are one of the best one can find in the country. The average package of all the departments lies at around 22 LPA. The placement percentage is around 75 percent, which is reasonably good.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The tuition fee is around 1L per sem. Apart from this ,there is hosted and mess fees which totals to 35,000 per sem. Considering all expenses, one will be spending around 3L per year here. Besides, there are multiple scholarship options based on the income criteria.

Campus Life :

The campus life, to be very honest, is limited due to the bad location of the campus. The college is situated in a pretty remote area which is a big con. Nonetheless, the in campus life makes up for the cons, which is pretty happening.

Hostel Facilities :

We have been allocated Lal Bahadur Shastri Hall of Residence, which is one of the newly constructed hostels here. We have triple seater rooms which are pretty spacious. The mess food is okayish and bearable.

Hostel Fee : INR 60000 per year

Admission :

The admission process involved giving two entrance exams, namely JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced. The application forms are released by NTA and IITs, usually very prior to the exam dates. A candidate has to qualify JEE Main to be eligible to sit for JEE advanced.

Review of IEM Kolkata, a strict Engineering College.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible for the placements after the sixth semester. The companies that generally visit us for placements are TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture, Wipro, Oracle, IBM and some other ones. The highest package offered through last years is 22 Lacs Per Annum and on average it is 4-5 LPA. 90% students on average get placed Every year. My plans after getting the Degree is to pursue Freelancing Full Time and Become a Web Designer.

Placement Experience:

Students from 5th semester onwards become eligible for campus placements TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, and Redhat are just a few examples of some service-based companies that offer placements to uem kolkata students. The highest package was 72 LPA and the average was 8.8 LPA. Almost 70-80% got placed. After getting the degree I want to be a javascript developer

Good Placements

Placement Experience:

We become eligible from the later part of the third year to sit for the placements as the companies arrive then. Mainly placements are dependent on service-based companies like TCS, CTS, Wipro e.t.c. who mass recruits a whole lot of students with standard 3.5 to 4 LPA packages. Product-based companies like Oracle, Amazon, and trilogy too visited the campus. Oracle recruited a few of the candidates, Amazon too but nobody could clear the trilogy's OA rounds. Oracle offered a package of 15lpa and Amazon around 22 LPA. But a lot of students applied off campus and the highest placement off campus was 72 LPA in Google. The placement percentage is nearly 100% which is mainly due to the fact of service-based companies. I too am interested in IT jobs so am preparing for the same.
