IIT Jammu PhD Admission 2024
Applicants searching for IIT Jammu PhD admission must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science. GATE scores are also required along with these degrees. Shortlisted applicants will be further assessed based on the interview and the applicant’s research scheme. Ques. What are the criteria for submitting the sponsorship/NOC by IIT Jammu PhD part-time candidates?
Ans. Part-time IIT Jammu PhD candidates are required to submit a “No Objection Certificate” on a letterhead from the appropriate authority in the organization clearly stating the following:
- The candidate is permitted to pursue studies on an Off-Campus basis and their official duties permit them to devote sufficient time for research.
- Facilities for research in the candidate’s field of research in the area in which admission is sought are available at the candidate’s place of work.
- The employer must expressly undertake to relieve them to stay on the campus to enable the candidate to complete the “Course work” and attend the evaluation at the end of every semester.
- If the candidate after joining the PhD program changes the organization, he should get NOC from the new organization as well.
Ques. What are the IIT Jammu PhD criteria for full- time and part-time?
Ans. Recently, in the authority of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Jammu, there is no official provision for part-time PhD students. IIT, Jammu essentially encourages only the students in the full-time category. However, candidates who are serving in reputed national research centres/organizations (like ISRO, DRDO, CSIR etc.) and with the extraordinary academic and research track record, may be well-thought-out as a special case subject to them clearing the other required official procedure for the admission and subject to the alignment of their research interest with that of the faculty members at IIT, Jammu.
Ques. I am only B.Tech. Am I eligible for the IIT Jammu PhD program?
Ans. Candidates having B.E./ B.Tech. degrees from IITs with exceptional CGPA and a high GATE score may be eligible. However, in general, an M.E./ M.Tech. The degree is favoured to be able to get an admission.
Ques. How will an IIT Jammu PhD candidate be placed?
Ans. A candidate can participate in placement activities at IIT Jammu. The candidate will have to follow the process of placement.
Ques. In how many semesters a candidate can complete the IIT Jammu PhD course work?
Ans. The minimum number of semesters required to complete the course work will be governed by the PhD ordinance in effect at the time. Please refer to the institute website for the PhD ordinance. However, typically, a scholar would require at least two semesters to complete the course work, before being allowed to appear for the comprehensive program and subsequently on registering for the research work, upon successfully clearing the comprehensive test.
