GCET Jammu Admission 2024

The admission process in Government College of Engineering and Technology is solely conducted online. The candidates are to sit for the Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET). Students who wish to apply for their preferred course at Government College of Engineering and Technology should follow the steps given below:-:

The candidate needs to visit the official website of Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations.
The aspirant needs to register themselves for the examination and sign in to fill up the form
Once logged in, the student needs to fill in the relevant details with accuracy

The training and placements cell of Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu focuses on providing employment opportunities as well as professional training to the students. Laboratories: The college has separate labs in every department to assist the students with their requirements. The Computer Engineering department has 7 laboratories, while the rest have one laboratory each.
Library: The institution has a library stacked with reference books, journals, as well as magazines
Sports: College offers facilities for sports and recreation. There is a separate sports committee that looks after the activities and makes necessary arrangements for the same.

Ans. Yes. The institution has hostel facilities. However, it is just for boys. The occupant capacity is 200. A separate girls’ hostel for SC/ ST students is under construction at present.

Ans. The Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu does not offer M Tech courses. It only offers to BE courses in the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Ques. Can I get lateral entry to this college?

Ans. Yes. The institution has provisions for lateral entry in the college. 10% of the seats may be filled in BE 3rd Semester via lateral entry.

The faculty members are experienced and have a good learning experience
The overall experience is good hostel life is very good as there is no ragging
The campus is totally eco-friendly like it is surrounded with trees everywhere you can find greenery and it's really good for health and a good mood.

Dislikes

The college is far from my home so going there on the first day for admission was a little bit difficult.
Washrooms are not good in the hostel they don't clean the hostel washrooms properly
Actually the admission process was very simple but the administrative staff was kind of rude.

I like the teachers behaviour towards the students. The open environment, flexibility regarding co-curricular activities etc.
opportunities to participate in all events.Freedom of speech and expression.The infrastructure, student-teacher understanding and self confidence giving vibes.

Dislikes

there is no proper classrooms available to students.The students have to shift from one building to another.
The campus is very far from my home.it took me 2 and half hours to reach their.
The campus is located in an isolated area with no canteen.

Admission:

one of the main reasons i applied to this college was that it was a government college .compared to other colleges the fee structure is totally different. The faculty members are highly qualified.The college represents diversity in its extracurricular activities, organizations, and programmes.

I also applied for MIET but since that college don't have hostel facility so I couldn't join it. And since this college is a government college, had hostel facility and it's very easy entrance exam, this was the best option for me

The girl and boy ratio in my branch is 10:0 . because there is no girl in our branch .all the class is full of boys only . So there is no motivation to attend classes regularly.

Admission:

Actually I want to make admission in IIT but I am unable to clear jee exam so I have to take admission here .the admission process here is very simple and eligibility is 45%+ in 12th . And you have to give one exam called jkcet to get admission here

Likes

Campus is quite beautiful with greenary everywhere.
There is a different library block where students can study in peace.

Dislikes

Classroom are not well maintained and needs repairs
There's almost no extra curricular activities for students.

Admission:

I applied for several colleges but my parents wanted me to do engineering and here in my state. I got B.Sc in Skuast Jammu and B.Sc in DU but my parents thought there wasn't any scope in B.Sc so I had to do B.Tech here.

The second thing that I like most is the architecture of the buildings of this college . The architecture is pure art

Dislikes

The canteen of this college is very poor there is no proper thing here.
There are very less girls in this college. In our class there are only 9 girls out of 60 students and in mechanical branch there is no girl.

Admission:

The only reason I choose this college is that it's in my hometown city . I wanted to take admission in IIT but unfortunately I didn't clear JEE . That's why I have to take admission here . The admission process of this college is very simple and the eligibility is minimum 45% in 12th. And you have to give one exam that is JKCET that is conducted by jkboppe.

cut from the city, there is no connectivity by public transport.

my parents told me and gorced me to join.it is way worse than other pvt colleges it has an advantage of being govt but other than that it has none.i didnt gave jee or other engineering exams thats why im stuck here. i was able to get a seat in bsc course from iit guwahati but parents dint allow because in there eyes distant degree even from iit doesn't have value and i was also getting seat in bsc agriculture in sukaust btech e&c in cetral uni jammu and dyd in jammu university but for them this college was best because some cousin of mine is a pass out of this college. the experience is not bad so far but i regrets somtime.

Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu offers undergraduate courses in Engineering. However, these courses are Bachelor in Engineering and not Bachelor of Technology. The primary difference between BE and BTech is that the former focuses on the theoretical foundations of engineering students whereas the latter is an application-based degree.

GCET Jammu offers BE in Civil Engineering the duration of which is 4 years. The eligibility criteria to get admission to this program is

At least 50% marks in aggregate in 10+2 with English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as subjects from J&K Board of School Education or its equivalent.

One of my friends recently completed the program and told me that the placement scenario is hopeless with an average package of around INR 2-3 LPA.

So, I will recommend you to go to a better institute.
