A first year student has to share room with 3 other students it means is is of capacity of 4, apart from this a table, a small almirah (too small to keep your belongings properly) is provided. Generally a room looks messy and too much contained. There is a student body which operates the mess and decide the menu on the daily basis. Generally food is decent here but according to the amount you are paying for it, it is not up to the mark. Still you can't do anything in this matter as there is no control of student to the depth and the food suppliers. Registration for hostel is done on the basis of distance of college from your home and the it is affordable enough for a middle class student.

Hostel facility is as good as it gets, there are 3 hostels a first year can expect to get. All hostels/halls being named after a former principal/chancellor of this college. The food here is decent and fees are quite affordable

Hostels are generally clean but not maintained properly. Meal is quite good and healthy and is decided by the students themselves. Hostels have rooms with 4 beds, desk and cupboard. Registration was quite easy once we get our hostels alloted.

Hostel fees is 29900 per semester. Hostels are alloted according to distance between your residence and college. Rooms are shared by four. Rooms are provided with beds, tables and cupboards. Bathroom and Washrooms are separate. Food is moderate. If you don't get a hostel, you can opt for a PG. There are lots of PGs available outside college.

Hostel facility can be availed by students you live far away. You have to apply once you get admission and the food is okay. For one semester the fees is nearly 30k and for 1 year it will be around 60k. Based on the price range the quality of food served is good and full safety is provided. But the seats are very limited and could be increased because a lot don't get hostel even if they live pretty far and they have to arrange for themselves.

Yes you will feel ba for hostel, because our hostels are very old type. But there is a new hostel of 1000 rooms is constructing. But you will enjoy your hostel life with your friends. Mess food of our hostel is good as compared to other NITs. Specially, food of Hostel-10 is best.
IIEST Shibpur is equipped with well-maintained accommodation facilities for the students to provide them the comfort of home.
If you are relocating, you need to get nothing to move in the hostel. If you want some extra comfort then only you need to buy which is also available in the nearby market.
For M.tech students the hostels are provided as per the distance of their homes. Male candidates would get a downing hall of residence, Hostel 15 and then PG. Hostel 15 is quite spacious and you will be getting beautiful scenarios outside the hostel. The downing hall is a bit congested as more number of students are accommodated in one hall. PG hostel is similar to hostel 15 only it is bit congested but it is better than downing hall. You will get PG hostel in the second year you will get Downing hall and hostel 15 in your first year. For female candidates the accommodation is given at Sister Nivedita hall.
You will get a bed, locker, and table individually in each room. There are a total of 11 rooms on each floor. Each floor has got 2 hi speed wifi routers. Some hostels also have paid canteens. There is an RO water cooler in the mess. Overall the hostels are pretty good considering it is a government college. You will also be sharing rooms with B.tech students.
According to some of my friends who stayed in hostels, it is amazing. A diverse culture is experienced here. You make bonds for a lifetime. From preparing for exams one night before to discussing various miscellaneous topics to roaming in college to going for night outs, all the things are enjoyed by the students thoroughly. Also, the campus is filled with greenery that provides hostellers an edge to feel the freshness of nature.
If you join IIEST along with the hostel, you live your life creating many unforgettable memories that you can cherish forever.
But we can say that the hostel life at IIEST prepares you for all the real-life challenging situations in your future ahead. So if you want to be an IIESTian, get ready for the exciting days that you have in your college.
There are several reviews about the Sen Hall of IIEST Shibpur from students who have spent their years in the hostel, stating the advantages and disadvantages. The points listed below give a brief idea about the kind of facilities and standard of living in the Sen hall.
This is an overall view of the circumstance and events happening at the Sen hall in IIEST Shibpur.
IIEST Shibpur hostel facilities aren’t too good. In the first year, students are allotted four sharing rooms. The rooms aren’t in great condition. Basic facilities such as 24*7 wifi facilities are there.
IIEST Shibpur placements are great. During the 2022 placement drive, 1022 companies took part in the campus placements. Highest CTC offered during the campus placement was INR 45 LPA.
No. It is not mandatory. The college allows you to have full freedom on whether you want to live in the hotel or outside. If someone has a problem with hostel life he/she can stay outside. But if you do not take hostels for a year you are going to miss a lot of things in life.
The main crux of college life lies in a hostel and it is better to join the hostel for the first 2 years. Also, it is easier to maintain the 8–5 classes from hostels and after the whole day tiring classes you can hang with your friends, play on the two grounds or go to the gym.
Here are some details regarding safety at the boys’ hostels of IIEST Shibpur-
This is some basic information regarding your query. The boys’ hostels at IIEST are as safe as most college hostels. You’ll have to be a bit cautious about your personal belongings though.
On papers, there is. Each floor has a Wi-Fi router or sometimes 2 Wi-Fi routers installed for the students and also there is 1 JAXB Wi-Fi installed at a common point amidst all the hostels for common access.
But in reality, you would consider yourself lucky if you are in rooms like 01, 03 or 10, 11. These are the extreme most rooms on each floor and get good Wi-Fi connections with decent speed. If you get a room near to the router you might get a speed around 5mbps or sometimes even 10mbps with an average speed of 2mbps. But if you are not, then you have to depend on luck. Only when others are not using, you might get some decent speed around 1mbps.
Moreover, the college Wi-Fi blocks many sites. For example, you can’t open YouTube, till the afternoon. The library and departmental Wi-Fi are far better than the hostel ones. Sometimes, the CS and Chemistry dept. WiFi download speed reaches 100mbps.
No, first-year B.Tech students do not get a single occupancy hostel room. In fact, no government-funded Institute of National Importance will provide you a single occupancy room or AC room at least in the first year.
The rooms are very clean and if you keep them that way, then you won’t have any problem. The rooms are spacious enough as well. In the first and second year sharing rooms will eventually make your group studies more fun. In the third and fourth year, only you will get single occupancy rooms.
To be very clear, you will not be given the option to choose your own hostel in the first year. The authority allots the hostels after entire admission process is completed. After the student reports at the respective hostel and registers his/her name, rooms are allotted.
In general, first-year boys are provided accommodation in Hostel 8, Hostel 9 and Hostel-10. On the other hand, first-year girls are given accommodation in Nivedita.
Some brief information regarding the allotment, change, and experiences in hostels are listed below:
Making friends out of an unknown crowd is needed in the first year of college. Staying with known people is not as interesting as making new friends out of roommates. Discussing different topics during a hangout, getting some private time because of different class timing, and enjoying life in the hostel rooms become a part of life in those glorious years.

Yes, IIEST offers accommodation facilities to its students. It has 18 hostels including 3 girls’ hostels. However, students are provided hostel facilities as per the availability of the room. There is a hostel warden in each hostel and students must abide by the rules and responsibilities of the hostel. The caution money needs to be paid one time during the admission.
