- If you are a student from nearby locations i would suggest to opt for some other NIT as you might not get hostel and end up being a day scholar which will ruin all the fun of studying in a college of national importance. You will also miss out on
- And beware of departments with less number of students. The teachers literally torture you till death. I had friends there and the experience wasn't good. Also placements from those departments are a bit tricky but if you are a good student, you can
Course Curriculum Overview :
The syllabus of the curriculum I was enrolled in, covers all the possible topics which can be asked in interviews. The notes provided by the teachers are enough to help the students answer the questions. And the topics can be found in youtube. But these important topics are asked in interviews and make sure you have a clear picture about these topics in mind. If not then please take help from the teachers and clear all doubts because the syllabus is crisp and the interviewer will only look for your knowledge and grasp on the subjects
Internships Opportunities :
Various companies come and hire interns for various roles. And based on these roles the stipends vary from 1.5lpm to 10kpm. But having an internship experience at the end of 3rd year is compulsory and if not able to Bag any opportunity you have sto spend summer vacations at college and do a research under professors. Companies which come for internships are Deutsche Bank, texas instruments, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Salesforce, Natwest, cesc, pwc, tcs etc
Placement Experience :
In the beginning of 3rd year, companies start hiring interns. The number of students selected is less but still good. Try to Bag one offer and if you perform well during your internship period you will get a pre placement offer and can join the company as full time after your course is over. In my department the placement scenario is pretty pleasant and majority of us got internship opportunities and placements too. The average CTC from my department was 13lpa and I got 19lpa. The highest package was 80lpa offered by Atlassian. And then there was Microsoft offering around 50lpa. But then the majority of companies pay below 10 and you have to give your 200% to grab the offer from companies that give more than 10. And then there is luck.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There is no campus employment for b.tech students as such but then there are scholarship programs arranged by the passout students of the college which can help students get scholarships worth upto inr 100000. Also loan is available at a very low interest rate and making it easier for students to pursue their dreams. The tuition fee for a students from general category is approximately 75000 per sem which makes it 150000 per year. And since the last 4 years there hasn't been any significant increase in the tuition fees. For my case I had to give 600000 for 4 years and plus extra hostel and mess fees which is nearly 30k per semester, making it 600000 per year.
Campus Life :
The social life is really something you get to experience. Ranging from coding clubs to arts, dance literature, one can experience everything. And the annu fest Rebecca is amazing. 4 nights filled with fun and laughter. These will be the days of you life.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facility can be availed by students you live far away. You have to apply once you get admission and the food is okay. For one semester the fees is nearly 30k and for 1 year it will be around 60k. Based on the price range the quality of food served is good and full safety is provided. But the seats are very limited and could be increased because a lot don't get hostel even if they live pretty far and they have to arrange for themselves.
Admission :
You need to clear jee mains jn order to seek admission here. Once you clear the jee mains you will be asked to fill in the application form by JOSAA. Belonging from a general category the percentile secured by me was 98.6 and the all india rank was near about 16k. You have to submit a rough amount of 10k and it will be adjusted with the course fees.
Faculty :
For my department the student to teacher ratio was 6:1. Most of the teachers are super friendly. They know that you have the knowledge because it's not easy to get into a NIT. And the teachers also understand that most of us don't want to study but they will push you and will always have your back. The attendance is not a major issue in this department but of course the more you attend classes , the more you score in exams. The faculty here are equally talented people from.various prestigious Institutes across the country and maintaining a good relationship with them will help you bag some opportunities to pursue higher degrees from foreign institutions where there better of recommendation really plays the role.
