Honest Review of IIEST Shivpur (now NIT Shibpur)

Dislikes

  • Area outside the college is dirty and filthy
  • The college lies on the outskirts of the city

Course Curriculum Overview :

When I got to know about this course I was astonished knowing the scope in it. It has less competition and high payouts. It has scope in government jobs as well. Teachers have experience of many years. They conduct exams in every two months

Placement Experience :

Students get placed at the end of 6th Semester. Almost every students get placed from various companies. As of my branch which is Metallurgy and Materials, a total of 45 offers were given for 39 students last year and roughly all students get placed. Average package is 8.5 LPA

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The tution fees is one of the lowest among all the NITs and IITs and there are no such hikes as of now. The complete cost of education would be roughly around 5.5 lakhs. One can avail for scholarship and waiver is also given to students with less annual income.

Campus Life :

The fests are held between April and May. Name of the annual fest is REBECA which is one of the oldest fest in India. Classrooms are highly facilated and clean. Many books are available for students to study in library which is open till sharp 12 AM on week days.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostels are generally clean but not maintained properly. Meal is quite good and healthy and is decided by the students themselves. Hostels have rooms with 4 beds, desk and cupboard. Registration was quite easy once we get our hostels alloted.

Admission :

I got enrolled in the college through scoring qualifying marks in jee mains. The application process was very convenient. There are separate columns with different sections for various area of interest which makes it easy to toggle between different admission process. Additionally a brochure detailing all the admission process and timings were mentioned for different branches which made this process hassle-free.

Faculty :

Faculty members are highly experienced and ratio is also well mantained. They focus on student's knowledge rather than their grades. Approaching the teacher is also quiet easy and they are helpful as well

Other Applied Colleges

National Institute of Technology - [NIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Industrial & Production Engineering)

I got better branch in my current college

Recession is going on since last few years and being a private college obviously that has affected placements in our college also. The current situation of placement is not really good. Among students from all branches which each may have like 150 students, only 20 something got placed on campus. It is said that companies like TCS, Capegemini, Wipro, Amazon, Zscaler etc comes to campus for hiring but most just come and don't hire. This year highest package was 26.5 lakhs by only 2 students from our department, CSE.

The placement data of this college can be found on its site and if you work hard from your side the college will definitely bring in the companies and you will be placed depending on your skills. According to my knowledge the students becomes eligible for placement from 6 th semester this information may as be wrong so please refer to college once . College tries for almost 100 percent placements but with no skill even god can't help you so it comes to you individually how much have you grown. My plans after the degree is to get a job .
