Calcutta University admissions to all UG and PG programs are based on merit and entrance examination. Admissions to UG courses such as BA, B.Sc, and B.Com are based on marks secured in the qualifying examination. Calcutta University conducts its entrance examination for admission to PG courses including B.Ed, BALLB, LLM, etc. Calcutta University offers admission to BTech, MBA, MCA, and MTech based on WBJEE/JEE Main, CAT/MAT/XMAT/JEMAT, WB-JECA, and GATE scores respectively. The selection is based on the board results. The college decides on a cut off marks and if you exceed that, you will be selected. Then it's the normal procedure like all the other places. Check the merit list, pay and take your seats.

For admission into B.Sc. Economics there is no entrance exam. The admission is pirely based on the marks in 10+2. Also there is specific reservation across categories which are given in the university and the college's websites.

The eligibility criteria is set out with the admission forms and the minimum percentage as well as the requirements are laid out for the benefit of the students.the exams basically depend on the university and the difficulty is on point 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.

The application process was totally online. But the admission process was offline basis. The cut-off was set depends on the marks you get in the higher secondary exam with English and second language compulsory. The overall admission process was satisfactory. Reservation was there.

For BBA course, 10th marksheet and 12th marksheet is required to fill up the application form. To qualify the merit list , different standard is set each year .In 2022 it went up to 90% marks in Class 12th board examination. Sometime it also falls to 85%. Each semester is of 6 months but it may vary due to the exam and result dates which is announced by CU.

- Faculty: The faculty is fantastic. Professors are understanding and very professional. They're good when it comes to thie respective subjects.

- Office: It is best to try to avoid the office because of the unreasonable amount of time taken to resolve queries/obtaining signatures is frustrating
Admission:
Application is done completely online. Students who are interested in pursuing this course has to sit for an Entrance Exam(Calcutta University Law Entrance Test). Approximately 10,000 students sit for this exam every year. One's rank has to be above 120 to get into this college. Total no of seats in this college is 120 out of which 60 are reserved for categories other than General. The application fee for General is 500 and 250 or less for reserved category candidates. To apply for admission, one has to visit caluniv.ac.in Entrance exam is held once a year and current affairs, geography, analogy, English, mathematics, History, Political Science, Quantitave and Qualitative Aptitude shall be studied thoroughly.

- Some of the professors are not at all good. They let their ego take the centre stage
- Most of the benches and desks haven't been upgraded in a really long time.

Students need to pass class 12 with 50% aggregate marks and get 60+ in Mathematics. The application form is issued on the college website of the Central Portal from this year onwards. Reservations are in place for SC, ST, OBCs and Christian minorities. Exams are held semester-wise around August and March every year. The admission process can be made better by increasing the number of allotted seats for general caste students

No, You cannot take M.A. in Journalism at Calcutta University without an Entrance Examination. Admission is through counseling based on the marks obtained in Calcutta University Entrance Exam.
The eligibility criteria for MA in Journalism at Calcutta University are as follows
- Students have to qualify for Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized college or university.
- 5% relaxation is given to those students belonging to the Reserved Category

Yes, you can pursue an MA in English after completing a BBA at Calcutta University, Kolkata. Most universities, including Calcutta University, allow students from diverse undergraduate backgrounds to apply for a master's program in English, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
Admissions at Calcutta University are done in two categories, i.e., Part ‘A’ for CU Candidates and Part ‘B’ for Non-CU candidates. The university offers admission to 80% of seats for CU candidates (Part ‘A’) and 20% for non-CU candidates. Calcutta University conducts an entrance test for admission to 20% of seats in PG courses for non-CU candidates (Part ‘B’).

The final selection of all Part ‘A’ and Part ‘B’ candidates is done through a counselling process conducted by the university. Seats are allotted based on scores obtained in the entrance examination or marks secured in the qualifying examination and interview (for respective programs). For the selection, 70% weightage will be given to entrance or qualifying exam scores and 30% to the interview conducted by the respective departments.
