When canteen closed, the city opened up.

Likes

The location is super convenient - being located in the central Kolkata made it easy to and from college.
The infrastructure is pretty decent with clean and air-conditioned classrooms. The overall campus is also clean and felt very safe.
One of the things that i liked is the discipline. The environment is very strict, structured and safe which is ideal for a good learning experience.

Dislikes

When it comes to academics for the economics department, there is an enormous room for improvement. While some professors were actually helpful, in general we had to study most of the syllabus on our own. The faculty members kept changing frequently
The fees structure for the kind of facilities and placement opportunities wasn't justified. There wasn't any scholarships or financial aid .
Campus life overall was dull. There weren't any fests which felt monotonous after a point.

Admission:

I had applied for quite a number of colleges including Lady Brabourne, Scottish Chruch, Maulana Azad etc. I was accepted to MAC as well as lady brabourne. I rejected MAC because according to people it wasnt a good college however for Lady braboune just before their acceptance, I had already paid ssc the admission fees and couldnt back out.

I like the teaching of this college & the environment
The students are friendly and helpful the professors are knowledgeable
The rules and regulations are very strict & disciplined

Dislikes

I didn't like the campus as it was really messt
There is a language barrier in this college
The classrooms does not have air conditioners

I applied to besc but didn't ske admission in it because it was expensive and I was not rejected from any other college. I chose my college because I really liked the teachers who taught psychology and they were really nice

The place where I still long for!!

Likes

The college focused on maintaining discipline
The faculty was highly qualified, highly cooperative and tried to solve personalised issues
The college provides anti-ragging environment, in case a student tends to face any issues, one can directly reach out to the higher authorities or the principal directly

Dislikes

The college canteen could have been better
The Behaviour of the librarian must improve
The washrooms require better maintenance

Admission:

I chose Loreto College, because I have done my schooling from a convent, so the college was immensely disciplined, there were no small talks, no wastage of time, the professors are highly qualified, the college chooses the students based on their merit and eligibility, does not support any kind of under the table procedures. Admission process was very smooth, they had also given 7 days time to pay registration fees, as I had already taken admission in Shri Shikshayatan and wanted to take an admission in Loreto College, as the fees in Shikshyatan was quite high and the behaviour was very impolite, and during the admission process, it asked the senior students to manage the students, and they not only manipulated students related to subject choice, but also was only interested in collecting Demand draft, and was immensely harsh with parents and students.

South Calcutta Law College is Superflous!!

Likes

No way that one can find a reasonable college than ours.
Even though it's a tier-3 college, Internships were provided in Tier-1 firms.
Small campus but an effective one as we don't just classes but moot court hall too.

Dislikes

Not a single moot event was organised at our campus and that's disheartening.

Admission:

I applied at NUJs but CLAT score and then obviously the kind of fees that they charge was way more than my single mother could every afford. Hende, I chose this college as fees was law and admission were also based on 12th score.

The very cooperative environment for education and knowledge with the best guiders and teachers though it's a government college.
Only focus on the college is EDUCATION. No unnecessary holidays, no teacher absence or irregularities.
The college only admits good students which eventually creates a good environment for education. No ragging, very safe place to be in.

Dislikes

No extra college fest making it a bit boring to be in.
Hygiene in the college isn't maintained, especially the bathrooms and classes aren't cleaned properly.
Too much strict about the attandance, though it's a good thing but it still have some disadvantages too.

Admission:

I had applied for Ashutosh College and got admitted too but then I got to know that Ashutosh is all about politics, no regular classes nothing, full of raggings and toxicity. I personally didn't felt safe there and then I applied for Bethune, one of the top government women colleges in Kolkata with best teaching faculty and zero ragging or goons and no politics. It was a centralised admission portal and I want actually totally unaware about it. So I mistakenly jumbled my preference list. I placed the college wrongly and I put Ashutosh at following by Maulana Azad college. And being the number one of the preference list, I got Ashutosh and there was no way of downgrading. So I cancelled the admission there and then waited for mop up round and this time, i applied for Bethune college at first and got myself there. Cut-off here remains high all the time, and not everyone gets admitted here. Cut-off is actually 75% but only those who are above 85% gets admitted here.

Netaji Nagar Day College: A Place

Likes

One of the many things that I liked about my college was my English department. We had the best reputation whatever it came to. I had the best time attending exhibitions and going to debates arranged by our department and my college.
The classes were less about lectures and more about storytelling which made them exciting. the teachers were as excited as the students about down down the road of something new and interesting. I felt like I belonged there.
The students were at first forced to break out of there comfort zone which might be scary at first but it was great for me to overcome my anxiety and to get over my shyness.

Dislikes

one of the few things, some teachers were not very encouraging, especially teachers of the pass courses.
The building might not be as attractive as one may imagine from the outside.
It is situated in a very crowded place so silence or peace is a very hard thing to find unless you check yourself in our library. It is dead silence there.

Admission:

I applied to K.K. Das, Andrews College, along with Netaji Nagar, and got into all of them. However, I chose this college due to its reputation, its location, and its history with my family. Most of my family members have graduated from this college. The main eligibility criterion was that the candidate had to score at least 45% aggregate in the subjects or the related subjects. There so no admission exam to get into the college.

Inside Gokhale

Likes

Students are mostly great. The staff more or less are nice.
Faculty is quite good. The professors are quite helpful.
The location of the college is quite easy accessible. You can use different types of transportation.

Dislikes

The campus is small, There are not enough rooms. The cubicles are really not enough to accommodate big classes.
The rooms are not at all conditioned. Despite the high semester fees, the rooms are not comfortable for summers.
The college solely focuses on academics. So if you’re planning to enjoy fest, then don’t come. Because we have no fest.

I applied to 6 big renowned colleges including Lady Brabourne and Bethune. However the cut off was pretty high there. Normally Gokhale has the cut off of minimum 85% in English. I was also eligible to get admission to Maulana Azad College and Jaipuria College. But I chose Gokhale because of the good reviews.

There are lots of event in the college where you can participate and learn skills from
The faculty is good as well as the labs we work in..
There are sports events as well as internship events in our collges

Dislikes

Abit of government groups are included that might cause bit of trouble if you get involved in it
Lifts should be allowed for students as some of our classes are placed in 4th floor
The canteen is in the 5th floor..that is actually so energy comsuming

Likes

The college canteen is extremely affordable and extremely clean and fresh vegeterian food
The college library has every type of book with 5000sqft area
The college washrooms are cleaner than 5 star hotel washrooms

Dislikes

No rule for attendance and presence in college

I applied to scottish church, jaipuria college and goenka college of commerce Got confirmed from the first two but bhawanipur had the best discipline , teacherd and a smooth easy process and the best campus.it has a ragging free enviroment which is best for me . I got rejected by goenka college of commerce as i could not get their cut off marks . Bcom hons criteria A candidate taking up honours course in a subject must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate (Best of 4 subjects) and 45% marks in the subject

My college Journey

Likes

I liked the rooms as they are very spacious with big windows
Great bathroom as it's newly build very clean.
Good sport faculty and they also help students in engadging indifferent sports

Dislikes

Politics in the college. They also provoke students to engage in politics as well
Poor faculty and are not helpful at all.
Professors are absent most of the time .

Admission:

Well I applied to many colleges around 4-5 like Prafulla Chandra college, Bhawanipur Education Society, Jaipuriya college, Hetambo chandra college. I got admit from bhawanipur education first but I choosed prafulla over it cause it is a government college and it's quite cheaper than bhawanipur college and I didn't got admit from other colleges . At my time back in 2023 the registration was simple just have apply in the college website emter some few details your marks of HS exams. The cutoff was 60 percent in that year.
