I chose this course for my passion regarding machinery and all the working behind production in industrial scales. My batch has 60 students and we had 6 courses in 1st semester. All faculties are highly qualified and have done their PhD's from reputed universities. Exams were moderately tough, you can pass them with bare minimum efforts.

According to rank in jee advanced this course suits me best along with IIT ROORKEE. It is a specific course in mechanical engineering. The faculty-student ratio varies according to the courses in the particular year. All the professors have PhD degrees in their field of specialization moreover they teach according to the student's preference. Sometimes on the projector and sometimes on board. In a semester two exams are conducted and they are not that much easier to pass but also not much hard.

My course focuses on Mechanical aspects and involves industrial engineering. Faculty students ratio - 19:1 Every professor is Phd in their field and well qualified. There are 1 mid-term and 1 end-term exam and quizzes and practicals throughout the semester. They are easy to pass.

I was interested in the production department and industrial-related jobs. Here the faculty-to-student ratio is 1: 80. All the faculty are PhD and experts in their field. Exams are held two times in the semester.
My priority was to join IIT so I chose the course on the basis of my rank The faculty-student ratio was 1:50 Faculties were mostly on Post Doctorate level, and focused more on research and projects. Teaching is using presentations. We had one mid-term exam for 3-4 days (1-2 per day) and one end-term exam for 6-7 days (1 per day) for each semester.
Fee Structure is somewhat expensive nowadays. Back it was feasible as it was low, the Indian government raised the fees to triple it was back then and made it a little bit hefty. But still, it is manageable and one can afford to study at this premier institute.
About 50000 for each semester which has been doubled in recent years, as a government initiatives the subsidy provided has been reduced to minimal. The government do provide scholarship thoughtout the engineering for top talents.
There is approximately 1.15 lakh academic fee and 16000 fees for the mess. This includes hospital charges also. You can avail free medicines referred by the doctors free of cost. this fee is for general students. For sc,st,obc there is no admission fee so there expense will be around 30k-40k.
Fee Structure is feasible and not much expensive. If it becomes not feasible for anyone then he can get Merit-Cum-Means scholarship provided by the institute. Hostels(4 out of 5) are good but mess food is not that much(2 out of 5).
