IIT Roorkee Courses Admission 2024: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility, Selection Criteria

Ans. IIT Roorkee offers various joint doctoral degree programs in the PhD program in consultation with their supervisors. IIT Roorkee has agreements with the following universities:

• University of Alberta, Canada
• University of Strasbourg, France
• Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand
• Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University, Nepal
• Department-Specific Joint PhD Program with National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan

Ans. To be eligible for the MTech Hydrology program the candidates must:

• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Agricultural Engg./ Hydrology/ Geomatics Engg./ Data Science & Artificial Intelligence/ Environmental Engg. or equivalent in relevant discipline.

OR

• Have an MSc/ MTech degree in Chemistry/ Geology/ Geophysics/ Applied Geology/ Applied Geophysics/ Physics/ Meteorology/ Geography/ Atmospheric Physics/ Environmental Science with Mathematics in the BSc course as one of the subjects.

OR

• Have an MSc degree in Statistics with Physics or Mathematics at the BSc level or its equivalent in a relevant discipline.

OR

• Have an MSc degree in Mathematics with Physics in BSc or its equivalent in a relevant discipline.

OR

• AMIE (Civil) with BSc or Engineering Diploma qualifications with at least 3 years of research/ teaching /other professional experience in responsible capacities.

Ans. Allotment of seats depends on the rank of the candidate, done on the basis of All India rank (AIR) and category rank of candidates. Candidates have to choose from the courses of IIT Roorkee while participating for JoSAA counselling in the order of their preference. They can change the order of their preference, until they lock them.

Ans. Qualifying degree and CAT score are just an eligibility condition but final IIT Roorkee admission for MBA depends upon the performance in GD and Personal Interview along with the work experience. 

Ans. Candidates seeking admission in IIT Roorkee PhD having to fill the application form and pay the application fee online. The application fee for General/EW/OBC category candidates is INR 200 and for SC/ST it is INR 100/-. 

Ans. IIT Roorkee offers admission to M.Tech programs based on GATE scores. However, candidates without a GATE score can also apply but they must have a CGPA above 8. The final admission is provided through the COAP counselling process.

• Click on the ‘Register New Account’ button to create an account. Log in with your Credentials.
• Click on the ‘Undergraduate’ Tab.
• Click on ‘Registration Form’ and fill in your details (some of the fields will be auto-filled and cannot be edited).
• Upload the required documents, photograph, and signature as mentioned in Section VI.
• Preview the filled details. Click on the ‘Submit’ button to submit the form.

Ans. IIT Roorkee offers Bachelor's Degree courses in 12 disciplines of Engineering and Architecture and 6 integrated Masters programs in different disciplines of engineering and science apart from 59 Postgraduate courses in various disciplines of Engineering, Applied Science, Architecture and Planning, Management, Humanities & Social Sciences, Design and Innovation. The Institute offers doctoral degrees in all Departments/Centres/Schools and Research Centres.

Ans. The eligibility criteria for the PhD candidates are given below:

• Master’s degree with a minimum 6.0 CGPA and GATE/ CEED/ JEST/ UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or equivalent or holding a national-level fellowship.
• Bachelor’s degree(4 year) and GATE/ CEED/ JEST/ UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or equivalent or holding a national level fellowship.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from IITs with a CGPA of 8.0
• MBBS / BAMS / BHMS / BDS degrees from Indian Universities / Institutions with 6.0 CGPA.
• MS/ MD degrees from Indian Universities / Institutions are exempted from the minimum CGPA as well as the requirement of qualifying in a national-level test.

Ans. The Golden Girl Scheme is provided to female candidates for direct admission in the PhD programs. To be eligible for the particular scheme the female candidate should be a first-rank holder (Gold Medallist) female candidate from an IIT and/or Institute/University within the TOP 50 ranks in the NIRF in the most recent year. The requirement of qualifying for an All-India Level Exam shall be exempted and candidates will be selected via the interview taken by the Department/Centre/ School. However, all other MEQs will be applicable as per the institute policy. At par with the Institute’s Assistantship. The total intake in this scheme shall be supernumerary.

Ans. The documents required are given below:

• Mark sheets & Certificates of 10th and 12th Classes or its equivalent
• Category Certificate (if applicable). 
• Transfer/Migration and Character Certificate 
• Undertaking by the parent/guardian and student for continuation of study at IIT Roorkee Annexure 
• Health Certificate
• Anti-Ragging Affidavit by the student and by the Parents/Guardians

• Two colored passport-size photographs

Ans. To be admitted into the MSc program at IIT Roorkee candidates must have a Bachelor's degree (3/4/5 years) in any relevant area of Biology/Biotechnology /Agriculture, Allied discipline with any biology subject. Candidates also must have scored a minimum of 60% marks OR a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale in the last qualifying examination. Admission to reserved category candidates will be as per the Government of India rules. Non-submission of eligibility proof by the time of admission will disqualify the candidate from getting admission.

Ans. To apply to the MTech program follow the steps given below:

• Access the URL and Apply Online
• Register as a new user
• Complete the Application Form 
• Pay the fee online using the option “Proceed for Payment” 
• Download the application Form (For the candidate’s record purpose) 
• The application sequence number generated on the downloaded application form will be used in all correspondence in the future.

Ans. Any candidate who has completed a graduate degree in any discipline with either post-degree experience of 5 years in a company of repute/ government sector/ recognized NGO/ education sector OR a valid CAT/ GMAT/ GATE/ GRE score. Final-year students of relevant undergraduate programs who have completed the requirements of the qualifying examination can also apply. In case of non-availability of the mark sheet of the final examination at the time of the Interview due to delay in the announcement of their results, candidates may be allowed to appear in the interview based on their aggregate results up to a pre-final year in which the percentage should not be less than as specified above under essential requirements. However, they will be required to submit proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the required percentage or CGPA by the deadline specified for academic registration, failing which their admission will be forfeited. 

Ans. The Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics & IT of Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India was initiated in the year 2014 to enhance the number of PhDs in the country. Under this scheme, PhD seats in both the Full-Time and Part-time PhD are allocated, in the areas of ESDM/ ITITES, to a few selected institutions. IIT Roorkee is one of the selected institutions in this scheme. Eligible candidates can apply whenever a specific announcement for this scheme is announced subject to the availability of the fellowship.
