CUET PG 2025 Commerce Expected Weightage

CUET PG Commerce Question Paper Analysis (2024 vs. 2023)

The CUET PG 2023 Commerce paper mainly tested theory, definitions, and formula-based questions. Accounting rules, business laws, and economic concepts were to be memorized by the students. The CUET PG 2024 exam was not like that. It focused more on practical and analytical thinking, making students apply their knowledge to real business situations.

In 2024, there were more number of case-study questions, particularly in finance, accounting, and management. Instead of memorizing knowledge, the students had to solve business problems. The exam also featured scenario-based questions in which candidates assessed data, reviewed financial reports, and made business decisions.

CUET PG 2023 vs. CUET PG 2024 Commerce Topics Comparison

The 2024 Commerce exam shifted from memorization to analytical, application-based problem-solving. Instead of defining terms like "working capital," candidates analyzed its impact on profitability. It also integrated contemporary topics like digital banking, fintech, global trade policies, and sustainability. Additionally, interdisciplinary questions connected finance, marketing, and HR, reflecting real business interactions.

CUET PG Commerce Topic Category Comparison

Topic Category CUET PG 2023 Topics CUET PG 2024 Topics
Accounting & Financial Management Focus on definitions, formulas, and standard accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS). Emphasis on financial statement interpretation, decision-making in investments, and real-world applications.
Business Law & Corporate Governance Direct questions on laws like Companies Act, FEMA, and SEBI regulations. Case-based questions on legal disputes, corporate ethics, and governance structures.
Economics & Business Environment Focus on macroeconomic concepts (GDP, inflation, demand-supply laws). More scenario-based questions requiring analysis of policy impact on businesses and markets.
Marketing & Strategy Definition-based questions on marketing mix, consumer behavior. Situational case studies, brand strategy comparisons, and digital marketing trends.
Finance & Investment Analysis Formula-based questions (NPV, IRR, CAPM). Application-focused, requiring financial risk assessment and investment decision-making.
Human Resource Management (HRM) Basic concepts of HR functions, training, and motivation theories. HR analytics, strategic HRM, and comparison of leadership styles in business growth.
International Business & Trade Theory-heavy questions on WTO, trade barriers, exchange rates. Applied questions on global market strategies, trade policies, and their impact on Indian businesses.
Entrepreneurship & Startups Traditional focus on business formation, types of ownership. Case-based approach on startup funding, valuation, and innovative business models.
Question Style Direct factual questions. More analytical, requiring critical thinking and application of concepts.

Accounting & Financial Management: The 2024 exam tested students on financial interpretation rather than just formulas. Instead of directly asking "What is Depreciation?", it asked "How does depreciation affect cash flow statements?", requiring a deeper understanding of financial reporting.

Business Law & Corporate Governance: The legal questions were more case-based, with a focus on governance models, corporate fraud, and real-life business disputes. For instance, "In case of a violation of SEBI norms by a company , what are the legal options" rather than simply asking the definition of the SEBI Act.

Economics & Business Environment: Students had to consider how economic policies effect businesses rather than simply testing their understanding of inflation and supply and demand. For example, "How would an increase in repo rates affect business expansion in India?"

Marketing & Strategy: Marketing took a practical turn, with case-based questions comparing traditional and digital marketing, branding approaches, and customer behavior analysis. Instead of simply discussing "Market Segmentation", students had to examine "Why do companies target different consumer segments for the same product?"

Finance & Investment Analysis: The exam moved from direct calculations (e.g., "Calculate the IRR") to conceptual applications (e.g., "Why is IRR preferred over Payback Period in investment decisions?").**

International Business & Trade: Rather than just listing trade theories, students had to evaluate trade policies (e.g., "How does India's foreign trade policy impact small businesses?").

Entrepreneurship & Startups: There was greater focus on innovation, business scalability, and funding sources. Instead of "What are the sources of startup funding?", the exam asked, "Which funding model is best for a high-growth tech startup and why?"
