In civil engineering, the course involves subjects like structural analysis, geotechnicals, water resources, transportation and environmental engineering. The theory and practicals of these subjects are taken by experienced faculty throughout 8 semesters. In each semester, students are required to appear for mid-semester exams (30marks) and end-semester exams (50marks) for theory subjects. The remaining 20 marks is allotted to class tests, viva voce, attendance, and assignments. For practicals, viva voce is conducted along with the submission of a report that consists of 50 marks in total.

This college provides one of most comprehensive course on civil engineering all over India, and is second oldest college of India also. The heritage of teaching civil engineering in this college made me choose this college over other colleges. The curriculum of the course is a little old and till now it hits to the basics of the engineering fundamentals, this is good as well as bad for the students because as an engineering student, one have to evolve continuously in using latest technologies. Including new technologies in labs, new techniques of doin the work and new machinery should be brought here to come into action, where this college is still lacking till date. Exams are timely held strictly according to the academic calendar provided by the college in the starting of every academic year, difficulty of exams depends upon the subject and the professor.

IIEST is a 167 year old college and Civil Engineering was the first course introduced in here. I can say without doubt, the curriculum devised here is the best. All the faculties are experienced. The college provides internship opportunities and research internships at IITs and NITs under the core subject. Many core companies come here to hire Civil Engineers. If you want to sit for Govt exams like UPSC CSE, Central Civil Services, GATE,.and State Civil Services, the curriculum will help you crack these. Many students from our college have secured amazing ranks in these exams. But I would recommend a very small enhancement in the curriculum, which would be project based learning on a larger scale. Other, curriculum is designed very well.

Civil engineering of IIEST is highly reputated, they have produced many stalwarts of this field over the years, the alumni network is vast and widespread over the world , they are working in top posts in premium companies. The civil engineering is an evergreen branch and has always its demand , - it attracted my interest for the course. The curriculum is well designed, the internships and industrial visit programs ans seminars with the stalwarts of the industry is conducted frequently - which gives us the clear idea about the real world applications and the further goals or academic pursuits. The curriculum is nice but needs a bit improvement to cope up with the changing demands of the industry. Two exams are conducted in a semester - mid sem and endsem , there is about a gap of 2-3 months between these two exams. the difficulty level is moderate.

Well the course might be a little outdated which is the case for most government Engineering Colleges but it is effective in providing students which real life experiences and it is improving gradually. Also the coding culture is really active which allows us to learn and improve.

Well the course might be a little complicated which is the case for the most governments colleges. The course helps in students disciplined lives .

The curicullum is similar to that in those of IITs. The curicullum is designed for each and every student to excell in the field of science and engineering. We are provided the best faculties in India who have excelled from various top institutes in India. The exams are conducted twice in each semester with the mid-semester being first along with it the end semester in the end of the semester.

I would rate the course and curriculum for 8 out of 10. The teaching methods may improve by making it in more practical manner so that the students can adapt to the rela world applications of the theory they have been learning in their course .

IIEST Shibpur is an excellent institute for courses in engineering, especially civil engineering. It is a well-established and well-known branch. There are several advantages of being in IIEST Shibpur and having a degree from the institute.
My brother has studied there and the points below are his experience at the institute:
Therefore, Civil engineering at IIEST is definitely a great choice for students, maybe even better than NIT Raipur in certain areas.
One of my friends was in the same situation last year. He got IIEST Shibpur Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Civil Engineering along with a rank of 1383 in West Bengal State Merit List of NEET for MBBS admission converted with a mark of 462.
So, if you want to become a doctor and serve people and if it's the long-cherished dream of pursuing MBBS then you should leave IIEST and better prepare for NEET again. Different people will have different views regarding the decision of leaving a good college like IIEST but in the end, it completely depends upon your goals.
There is no comparison between IIIT Raipur and IIEST Shibpur for Engineering. IIEST Shibpur is a much older and well established college than IIIT Raipur. Being a student of IIEST Shibpur myself, I can confidently say that the college is much superior when it comes to engineering.
Categories | IIEST Shibpur | IIIT Raipur |
Course Fee | 5.68 lakh | 1.8 lakh (1st year) |
Highest CTC | 35 LPA | 23 LPA |
Average CTC | 15 LPA | 10.5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Infosys, ZS Associates, Bosch, IBM, etc. | TCS, JP Morgan, CitiBank, American Express |
They produce many well-qualified students in different fields and provide them with many facilities along with placements and even good opportunities for higher studies and research.
Without a doubt, IIEST Shibpur is the definite better choice among the two institutes for Civil Engineering and is indeed one of the best Civil Engineering departments in the country. My friends who study at IIEST Shibpur boast about their college, that it is great in so many ways.
The points below state some reasons as to why -

Civil Engineering at IIEST Shibpur |

1.55 lakh |
Highest CTC |
20 LPA |
Average CTC |

Recruiting Companies |

Therefore, Civil Engineering in IIEST Shibpur is at its best among almost all the Civil Engineering departments in India and so is definitely a great choice.
The term attractive is relative, in the context of a CV or resume. You just showcase your skill-set, education, work experience, etc in these documents. Yes, a CV can be well-organized or well-formed. A well-formed CV may be found attractive to one recruiter and in the very same way, it may be found dull to some. So, there is a pinch of luck factor also required. So first you need to consider for what company you are going to apply. Your CV should be target-specific and must target a company that is interested in the skills you have. For Example, If it is an analytics firm then put some extra effort to showcase your interpersonal skills as well as your extracurricular activities. If it is a core technical job then vocational training and other academic projects should be highlighted well.
To make a good cv consider the following points.
