Course Curriculum Overview:

Due to personal preferences i chose this course.Faculty student ratio is 1:20 and that's quite appreciable. Faculties have doctorate and post doctorate qualifications. Exams are conducted in duration of 1.5 months and it takes quite a lot of efforts to pass semester exams

Placement Experience:

In 3rd semester internship opportunities open up and in 4th year with projects and resume students are elligible for placements. Many companies visit and placement percentage is very good with a decent avergae package and offcampus placement opportunities are very good

Campus Life:

Life at IIT is very good. The annual cultural fest is spring fest and the annual techno-management fest is kshitij. both are occurs at then end of january. IIT Kharagpur library is the biggest asia technical library. Classroom are fully air-conditioned with high qualities projectors. We have many sports in our campus like cricket,football,badminton,volleyball,basketball,lawn tennis,table tennis,squash,etc. We have many clubs and socities in our college for consulting, data analytics, coding, business management, dancing, singing, etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Generally 1 semester fees is around 1.5 lacs and our college provide us mcm scholarship. we have many other scholarship from goverment and private authorities like FFE, Reliance scholarship,etc. Those students whose family income is less than 1 lacs get 100% tution fees remission. Those students whose family income is between 1 to 5 lacs get 66% tution fees remission. Those students whose family income is greater than 5 lacs does not get any fee wavier.

Campus Life:

Kshitij is an annual techno-management fest. Springfest is another annual fest occurring in our college. The library has a wide range of books (approximately 2 lakh books) and we can issue any book just by showing our identity card . The classrooms are highly comfortable with air conditioners and equipped with charging points. There are many sports activities such as cricket , football, table tennis, tennis, badminton, hockey etc. Each sport has its own governance and dedicated play area. Some social groups in IIT KGP are Encore, TFPS , Spectra, Robotix, Pravah. All these are run by students themselves

Placement Experience:

Students who have 4 year program become eligible from 7th semester and dual degree students 9th semester onwards. 216 companies visited our campus this year including MnCs such as Google, Microsoft, Apple, Meta etc. 1377 offers were given to 1277 students. The highest package went to 1.6 crore per Annum, and average package was 17 lakhs per annum Approximately 92% students got placement this year. My plans are to pursue higher studies in renowned universities of USA such as Harvard, Stanford etc.

Faculty members are well-qualified, and their teaching methods are engaging and effective. Term exams were timely, and passing them required dedication. Overall, the course and faculty are a mix of strengths and some areas for improvement. On a rating scale of 1 to 10, I would rate it around 8 considering both the positive aspects and areas that can be enhanced.

Life of the IIT campus is the most awesome and chill life. With a total campus area of 2100 acres, it feels like a small town. We have to use cycles for travelling from one place to another. With great peer groups, we get to learn a lot from them. And the seniors are also very nice and famous for giving funds. We have mainly two fests conducted in a year that is spring Fest and tech fest Kshitij. Also, there happen other departmental fests. These two fests are conducted at the end of January. There is Asia's biggest library which is the Central Library. It has a huge collection of books of all kinds. The classrooms are located in the Nalanda classroom complex. They have gallery forms and smart boards. Regarding sports, students are trained to play inter-IIT sports. There are many active societies but the ones under TSG are important for POR.Like entrepreneurship cell, alumni cell, international relation cell etc

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this because of my rank in jee advanced and further I was mostly interested in doing research and higher studies. So this course is mostly oriented towards research. Hence I chose this course. The student: faculty ratio is 21:1.The faculty here are highly qualified. They have done their Phd from top universities across the world and postdocs also and are involved in various research projects. Their teaching language is very much understandable and are very friendly by nature. They are ready to help all the time. The midterm examination happens in 1.5 months and the end sem exams happen in 4 months. For most of the subjects they follow relative grading and for a few subjects they follow absolute grading where 35 is the passing mark. The end sem exams are a bit tougher than mids.

They are approachable, but most of the things we have to learn from ourselves only as the method of teaching are not that good But anyways overall, it's good.

It's a top NIT.So placements are average. From our branch around 11 lpa went highest and the average was 6 Lpa. From another branch like ei, cse ,ece,ee people had got many top placements like Microsoft, Google etc. Overall college average is 9 lpa and almost 95% of students are placed.

Fees are definitely too much a little less than 3 lacs per year. But the good thing is if your family income is less than 5 lac you get a 2/3rd of tution fees waiver and if its less than 1/3rd its completely waived off and for less than 9 lacs its 1/3rd waiver. And there are several scholarships based on your merit like means cum merit scholarship etc.

Faculty are all with a Ph. D.s, a lot from renowned colleges of India and abroad. Most faculty are friendly and supportive. Each faculty has teaching as well as a research load. Most focus on research more, but also do justice to teaching. Most faculty have industry contacts but generally, avoid connecting student job candidates to the professional communities. But there is a good student placement cell to address this issue.

Alumni/Alumna:

As I stated earlier, one of the major reasons for joining is the alumni network and student community. Alumni are present in most big companies and seniors share most of the relevant information for careers and extracurricular activities. That said, the students are fairly biased to conventional career choices like Finance, banking, consultancy, and engineering.

NIT Jamshedpur is a tier- 3 Indian Engineering College and it fairs well compared to some other NITs like Raipur, Durgapur, Jaipur in terms of placements of Metallurgical branch students.  More than 100 companies pay a visit to NIT Jamshedpur each year to continue the recruitment. This number keeps on increasing every year. Non-core companies are known to offer 6-8 LPA whereas core companies offer 7-8 LPA.  A number of companies such as TATA Steel, TATA Tinplate, Vedanta group, JSW, JSL, etc regularly take a part in the NIT Jamshedpur’s recruitment.  TATA is known to recruit a maximum of its employees from NIT Jamshedpur. Ans. Ceramic Engineering and CSE are two completely different fields of study. CSE offers better placement and packages as compared to Ceramic and though both these institutes are well-reputed the IIT tag offers certain advantages. So it’s quite difficult to choose an institute over the other.  In terms of internships, since Thapar is a private college, they have their own standards regarding schedules. In the internship session of 2019, almost 1200 students got placed. The internship session of IIT BHU includes many big names such as Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, etc. In terms of placements, IIT BHU has performed very well. In 2019, the highest package offered was 1.03 Crore per year in domestic and four students received international offers of 1.53 Crore. Whereas, Thapar received the highest package of 39 LPA, which is quite low but the average packages of both colleges are almost similar. IIT BHU placement statistics show that 171 students chose core companies. Thapar has better hostel and mess facilities whereas IIT BHU’s campus is spread over 400 acres, which is 150 acres more than Thapar’s.
