Why is the cutoff of IIIT Allahabad considerably low (around 5k), even if it can be compared to top notch institutions like IITs?

There are several reasons for the low cutoffs of IIIT Allahabad. These are- No Home State Quota- IIITA doesn’t have a home state quota for its seats. So the seat availability for students from across India increases, and the cutoffs get lowered. Almost double the seats in IT as compared to the NITs- IIITA offers more than 200 seats for the IT branch. Alongside this, there are two integrated M.Tech programs for IT. This allows for more IT seats at IIITA than the CSE seats at NITT and NITW combined. This is another reason for a lower cutoff for the IT stream. Without any strong reasons, students prefer CSE over IT. A strong inclination among the students for studying in their Home NITs. The old NITs were established much before IIIT Allahabad. This is why IIIT Allahabad has low cutoffs for its B.Tech courses even though it is a top institute of India.

Why is the cutoff rank of the IIIT Allahabad IT branch so low (4550 as of 2017) when it is comparable to CS in other NITs and some IITs?

My younger sister has enrolled in the CSE program at NIT and it has excellent facilities for the program. The brand name of NIT and IIT is still more popular for some of the engineering aspirants because they lack awareness. Even my sister thought so before admissions, but NIT ranks #16 on the NIRF Engineering scale, IIIT A ranks #103, and IITs are usually in the top 5 in the same. Furthermore, your decision may change based on the following- The location of IIIT Allahabad is a factor contributing to its low popularity. It is located in a small village area called Jhalwa. There are no recreational facilities around and the only eating outlets are MacDonalds and Dominoes, which harm in the long run. The placement statistics of IIIT A show that it has a good 96% placement rate, but not many top companies come to visit because of the location. Networking is not an issue, but an institute in a developed area would have easy accessibility, lectures by renowned faculty, spots of refreshment; which are not present here. The hostels are not very good and those who reside in them, face difficulties related to social outings. Another fact of importance is that this institute has only two departments: Information Technology and Electronics and Communication. What should be my AIR in JEE Mains to get a B.Tech in IT at IIIT Allahabad?

Business Informatics was chosen by one of my friends at IIIT Allahabad. So, I will be able to share some of his experiences. The course mainly focuses on business and technology domains. The faculty is very helpful and supportive and you feel like home here. Placements: The branch was established in 2019 which is why there are currently no placement statistics. However, you can assume that they are almost the same as IT, because after all, its an IT branch, and then BI as a specialisation. You dont need to worry about placements, because its really a worthy discipline. Cutoffs: If you are in the general category, the cut-off was approximately 7100 according to the last year. Perhaps this year also the cut-off will be similar due to low deviation. The Cut-off stats of 2020 of JEE Mains by NTA are as follows: GEN 70.24 Other Backward Classes (OBC) 72.88 Scheduled Caste (SC) 50.17 Scheduled Tribe (ST) 39.06 The institute’s course curriculum covers all subjects of the IT branch, plus one additional subject for BI. It will be quite difficult for you to cope up with all the subjects but if you work hard then it will be easier for you.

A brief review of IIITA

The Placements in the college are very good. In spite of recession the placement stats of the year 2024 are quite good i.e. 26 lakhs is the average package.
The campus area is also good. There is a football ground , volleyball and basketball grounds also in the campus.

The sports facilities are not up to the mark.
The events are not conducted properly and not on a regular basis.

The course which I am enrolled to is IT-BIn. The college itself has high cutoffs as it is the best IIIT of the India.As I belonged to the OBC category I got benefit of reservation policy. The admission process was not hectic at all.

The coding culture of IIIT Allahabad is really very good. Even some of my friends became 4star and 5star coder in 1st and 2nd sem only
The college's different society do regularly conducts Hackathons and funny and interesting challenges and games based on the interest of students

The college IIIT Allahabad is located in Jhalwa, Prayagraj. which is a remote location. This restricts the students to do their desirable things

I got admission here based on my JEE MAINS (OBC) rank which is 1898. The admission process was smooth. the cutoff off for obc cadiadate was 984-2205. for sc/st cuoff was 321 - 1215. for the general candidate, it was 672 - 5318.

IIITA College review.

Technical environment of this college is very good. Coding is the main priority here.
College infrastructure is very good, we have neat and clean hostels.

Mess food is not so good, here you will have to survive otherwise you know.
Professor are very strict here in academics and academic is also very hard.

Admission process was well smooth, they had provided some of the documents they require for admission. You will get admission here on the basis of your jee mains score. Jee mains occurs every year so prepare well for that to get admission here. There is no any state quota here but you will find reservation for sc, st, obc and ews student here in admission.

Coding culture of the college is great. Everyone starts codinng from the beginning of the first year
Campus has all the infra that is required by a student. It does not have alot of amenities but it has everthing that a college student needs.

Ece professors are really not helpful and also they do not take much classes and disturbs students for their project
No matter what you do you will never be able to improve the mess food. Though it is not tge bad but it still it needs to approve.

Well since this is a government technical College the admission process is done according to the JEE paper and it's result. It's admission process is done on the basis of jee mains rank. And the cutoff goes from 3000 to 9000 for the general category where as for obc and sc/st it is much lower.

My first year experience in IIIT Allahabad

The biggest reason why people opt for this college are the placements. This college provides an average placement package of over 30 lakhs which is much more than any other college in this domain excluding the old IITs
You will be getting all the resources, YouTube channels to study from at the beginning of the semester. Seniors most likely send all the previous year question papers. So even though the course curriculum is said to be hard, you won't find a trouble

Don't expect much from the faculty. Some of them are actually good whereas you will find some that don't even know how to make concepts clear. In those scenarios you will have to rely on your peers and YouTube. You will mostly find everything online
Campus Life is the biggest turn off. People spend hours coding sitting in their respective hostel rooms. You will hardly find anything social going on in the campus. The club's are also relatively inactive and doesn't get much funding either.

You are admitted through JEE Mains only and your score should be well above 99+ percentile if you fall in OBC category. Around 99.3 for EWS and over 99.6+ percentile for General Candidates. Your counselling will take place through JOSAA and all the details can be found in JOSAA website.

IIIT ALLAHABAD GENUINE REVIEW

Senior-Junior Interaction: The senior junior interaction is best . There is no ragging scenario.
College placement scenarios are appreciable under recession time too.

College has not much diversity in domain of engineering as only ECE, IT candidates are there.

I secured approximately 7500th rank in JEE Advanced and around 4500th rank in JEE Mains. I was allotted this college through CSAB round counselling. Admission to this college is only possible through JEE Main ranks, meaning that candidates from the general category need to score at least 99.4 percentile to secure a seat. The admission process is facilitated by JOSSA counselling and CSAB rounds, which typically begin in August after the declaration of JEE Advanced results. I have ranked approx 7500 in Jee Advanced and approximately 4500 in Jee Mains and I got this college in CSAB round counselling.

IIIT ALLAHABAD FOR PLACEMENT

Coding Culture is great. One can get many good coders here.
Senior-Junior interaction is very great.

Campus is not big and is in outskirts of city.
Sports culture is not so great and very few people play sports everyday.

To get admission in IIIT Allahabad , you must qualify JEE Mains Examination.After JEE Mains , you get seat here through JoSAA Conselling. JEE Mains is held twice in a year in January and April. For General students , you are required to get under10000 ranks for ECE branch and under 5000 for IT.

As per the previous analysis of the JEE mains cutoff of IIIT Allahabad, your percentile might not be sufficient for the Btech admissions. But, you may get the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Noida Institute of engineering and technology, Sharda University, KIET, etc with various specializations.

Yes, JoSAA has released Cutoff 2024 and Rounds 1-6 Seat allotment for IIIT Allahabad. The percentile for General males is 99.2, and for females is 98.6, for EWS males is 99, for females 98.5, OBC males 98.7 females are 98, SC males 96.3 females are 95.

Yes, IIIT Allahabad just like any other Central Funded Institute accepts CAT scores for admission to MBA program, followed by a GD and PI. The scores of CAT 2023 will remain valid till December 2024 for admission process. For that you must have passed UG degree with 65% (55% for reserved categories) to be eligible for admission.
