The first year courses are not relevant to some extent as physics and maths are not useful becoz whatever they teach like series and matrices are not applied in civil. As I'm in first year I don't feel the curriculum is relevant to civil as everyone first year student irrespective of branch learns same subject like maths, physics etcc. Need to remove unnecessary subjects and should concentrate on core part. Timing is something depends on ur preparation and it may vary person to person.frewuenct of exams are like they happen for every month. Quiz q in one month and quiz 2 in the next month

The first aspect for choosing is to be civil engineering course because it is easy and stressful to other courses in the other branches. The curriculum is packed and designed a way to encourage you to be more practical and helps ahead for the academic and professional career development They are outstanding in these things minor problems and discomfort can be rectified. The frequency of exams is 1.5 month / exam I think it's apt and good time according to the difficulty level and well planned curriculum.

The course curriculum in IIT madras is not too complicated, every branch here is unique and are mostly irrelevant to other. I personally chose civil engineering because I was very intrested in construction of things.

The curriculum of iit madras is very well and decently established. We tend to choose different courses rather than our core courses. That is something interesting. Frequency of exams are also decent enough to make sure we are thoroughly following the academics

IIT Madras civil engineering department offers a well-balanced mix of theory and application. interdisciplinary coursework and project-based learning were important considerations in my selection. Developing critical thinking and incorporating emerging technology into the curriculum could improve it even more while adequately educating students for real-world applications.

I choose this course according to my jee advanced rank, the faculty to student ratio is 10 students for one faculty, faculty are mostly iit alumni and from other good colleges,Teaching method of the faculty varies from person to person, exams are in the form of quiz 1,2 and end semester

My course is civil engineering and our faculty is outstanding. Our faculty members are very experienced. They always give us the updated notes in our academics every year after making research. Professors design notes very well.

Actually I got this course according to my rank. For my rank, I got CSE, ECE branches for the colleges after top 10 or 11. But I want a course in top 10 colleges. So I preferred for IIT Madras which is one of top most college. Here we will get more placements so there is more chance to get placed. student faculty ratio is 1:65. Faculty was too good. They are more than 25 yrs experienced also they are well being teaching. In my view, exams are a little bit difficult to pass. We have 2 quizzes, endterm for some subjects and midterm, endterm for some subjects and projects, assignments, presentations for some objects per semester. Each semester is approximately 4 months. But if we put a little effort in exams, we can pass.

I am persuing btech in civil engineering department.i choose this cause I am very much interested in civil department and very interested in archetecture.Yes the faculty was very good and all are experienced so faculty wise it was great. In my campus the student ratio as boys to girls is 5:1 . My semester as very tough passing in exam is challange but if we work before exams it will be fine

I chose this course because of my rank and also I was interested in the course of civil engineering. The course curriculum is very well designed where we learn the basics and advanced topics in a span of 4 years. The faculty: student ratio is nearly 1:80. All the faculty members are very well qualified in their respective fields and they all have PhD Degrees. The teaching method is mostly through ppts and something blackboard. One semester works for around 4 months. We have 2 quizzes in between and one end-semester exam at the end which is generally a 20+20+60 breakup. The exams are not that easy but if you study well even one week of the exam, you will definitely pass.
IIT Madras is consistently ranked at 1st position in the NIRF India Rankings 2023: Engineering, leaving behind even IIT-Delhi and IIT-Bombay. The Civil Engineering department at IITM is filled with numerous opportunities and the faculty, staff, and placements are without a doubt, top-notch.
The Centre For Innovation ( CFI) and IITM Research Park motivate students to come up with innovative ideas. Innovation is deeply encouraged and impressive ideas are helped with incubation and providing expert mentors. These are some startups specific to the Civil Engg. Department: Foldable Housing, Tvasta - 3D printing of buildings, Marvel Structural Consultants, etc.
Other than this, IIT Madras Civil Engineering Department has 14 well-equipped modernized labs. IIT Madras’s location in a city like Chennai makes it attractive for aspirants of various Government exams as well.
In all, IIT Madras is filled with opportunities and its Civil Engineering Department is highly renowned and offers numerous opportunities to the students.
The exact percentage is difficult to tell because the data is available only with the Training and Placement Cell of IIT Madras. The biggest problem with Civil Engineering is that you will not get any immediate opportunities in the same stream. So many of the students who need a job immediately with a good pay package usually shift to other streams.
It is not the case that people are not interested in pursuing core civil engineering jobs. But they want to study what can give them jobs immediately. Unfortunately, this is difficult in core civil engineering jobs. These jobs demand higher degrees which the undergraduate students lack and thus are not considered.
Both IIT Madras Civil and BITS Hyderabad CSE are great subject options to pursue for students.
For a civil engineer fresher, Structural Engineering from IIT Madras is the best option.
