IIT Madras Pravartak Launches Free Course in Mathematics; Apply till August 9

New Delhi: IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has introduced a new free course named ‘Out of the Box Thinking’ (OOBT) through mathematics. 

IIT Madras has also commenced the registration process and the deadline is August 9, 2024. The classes are scheduled to begin from August 10, 2024. 

According to Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, "‘Out of the box’ thinking is crucial for solving real-world problems innovatively." This approach encourages learners to think beyond standard methods, fostering creativity and leading to novel solutions in various fields.

What is the Course Structure?

The course is structured into four levels, each lasting 10 weeks, and includes periodic assignments and solutions. The OOBT course is available online and free of cost, aiming to reach up to one million learners.

The course, led by Sadagopan Rajesh, the founder-director of Aryabhatta Institute of Mathematical Sciences, is designed to enhance creative problem-solving skills through mathematics.

Who is Eligible to Apply for the Course?

The courses have been designed for candidates ranging from school children to professionals and researchers. The four graded independent levels of the courses present multiple approaches to problem-solving, debunking the myth that problem-solving is for the elite. It introduces new techniques in an easy-to-understand fashion; and prepares the users to face real-life projects with confidence and ease.

What after Course Completion?

An optional in-person proctored exam will be available in December 2024 across various Indian cities for a nominal fee. Successful participants will receive a grade certificate from IIT Madras Pravartak.
