IIT BBS M.Sc + PhD Admission 2023: Dates, Cutoff, Eligibility, Selection Criteria

As a second year B.Tech Mechanical Student at IIT Bhubaneswar, I can provide some insight on the benefits of joining my college for this particular course:

1. IIT Bhubaneswar is known for its strong focus on research and innovation, and it has a well-established reputation for its mechanical engineering.
2. IIT Bhubaneswar has a strong faculty with diverse research interests. 
3. The institute emphasises interdisciplinary research and it has several labs dedicated to mechanical engineering.

Here are some other factors like ranking, fee, and placement for comparing Mechanical Engineering at the three IITs:

As a student of IIT Bhubaneswar, I can assure you that our institution is a good choice for Mechanical Engineering. You’ll be provided with good research facilities, labs, and an experienced faculty. 

Both ECE at IIT Guwahati and CSE at IIT Bhubaneswar are great options for you. However, the choice majorly depends on your personal choice and your career perspectives. I don’t have much idea about IIT Guwahati but I can guide you about CSE in IIT Bhubaneswar.

• The CSE branch at IIT Bhubaneswar offers excellent education curriculums that help you be prepared theoretically and practically.
• IIT Bhubaneswar offers excellent placement for the CSE branch with 100% of students being placed in the placement drive, with the highest package being INR 55.75 LPA, the median package being INR 20.31 LPA and the average being 20.18 LPA in 2023.
• Top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and more recruit students from IIT Bhubaneswar.

2nd gen IITs like Patna and Bhubaneswar are comparatively lower ranked than Roorkee, Guwahati or Kharagpur. However, they are making continuous progress in terms of both academics and placements. Computer Science Engineering requires basic infrastructure, which is well provided at these 2nd gen IITs.

As evident from the table above, IIT Bhubaneswar records quite decent placements in B.Tech CSE, which is equal to (and sometimes more than) the placements of lower branches at top IITs. 

Thus, I would recommend you opt for CSE at 2nd gen IITs like Patna and Bhubaneswar over choosing a lower branch at top IITs like Roorkee, Guwahati, Kharagpur. 

I am a third year B.Tech ECE student at IIT Bhubaneswar. ECE is one of the newer branches at IIT Bhubaneswar. Its first batch graduated in 2020. 

The number of software companies that come for recruitment of ECE students is comparatively more than core companies. Marwell Electronics and Qualcomm are the core companies that recruit ECE students from IIT Bhubaneswar. Amazon, Microsoft, HSBC, Mathworks, Oyo, and Razorpay offer software related jobs to ECE students. 

Here are the 2023 placement figures for B.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar and B.Tech Chemical at IIT Madras:

I would recommend B.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar over Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras because the former offers better placements in terms of median and lowest packages. 

I am a fourth year B.Tech CSE student at IIT Bhubaneswar. As per the NIRF Engineering Ranking 2023, IIT Bhubaneswar is placed 47th. Moreover, IIT Bhubaneswar recorded 100% placements in B.Tech CSE in 2023, and the average package stood at INR 25.18 LPA for this branch. The top recruiters at IIT Bhubaneswar for 2023 placements were- Accenture, Adobe, Amazon, Dell, Deloitte, HCL, Infosys, ISRO, among others.

Other than performing well in placements, the students of B.Tech CSE at IIT Bhubaneswar get to be a part of various interesting clubs and societies. These are- The Robotics and Intelligent Systems Club (RISC), Web and Design Society (WebnD), and Neuromancers (The Programming Society). 

These clubs and societies allow students to indulge in the fields of robotics, web development and programming by interacting with others and working on interesting projects. 

Based on my personal experience, I can assure you that B.Tech CSE at IIT Bhubaneswar is a good choice. However, I can not comment on the other institutions/courses as I have not been a part of them.

 I think choosing ECE in IIT Bhubaneswar is the best option for you, However, CSE in BITS Hyderabad, and engineering physics in IIT Hyderabad are good options as well, it majorly depends on your preference.

• According to me, IIT Bhubaneswar is one of the reputed engineering institutions in India, known for its academics, research facilities, and highly qualified faculty members.
• The average course fee for the four years of full-time BTech in ECE from IIT Bhubaneswar is around INR 17.6 Lakhs.
• IIT Bhubaneswar has a good reputation for offering great placement opportunities to students.

As a student of ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar, I can provide you some insight into my college/department-

• IIT Bhubaneswar has experienced faculty with strong research backgrounds.
• It has advanced laboratories with well maintained equipment.
• IIT BBSR emphasises research and innovation.
• It has strong industry collaborations for internships and placements.
• The ECE curriculum at IIT BBSR is well-structured.

Based on personal experience, I can assure you that IIT Bhubaneswar is a good choice for a B.Tech ECE.

IIT Dhanbad is one of the oldest IITs, so it is a good choice to study MTech in EEE from there. However, being a student of IIT Bhubaneswar I would suggest opting for MTech in EEE from IIT Bhubaneswar.

• The average cost fee to pursue MTech from IIT Bhubaneswar for one year is INR 51390.
• The course is a full-time course for two years. The cutoff for MTech was 500 in the GATE exam for the year 2021.
• The MTech batch of IIT Bhubaneswar has achieved 89 % placements with the average package being INR 12.25 LPA.
• Top recruiters like Flipkart, Amazon, Google and more took part in the placement drive. 

IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Mandi are both well-known institutions in the field of engineering. Both of them offer a decent B.Tech CSE course.

The good thing about joining IIT Bhubaneswar is that it has clubs and societies dedicated to robotics, web design and programming. These clubs and societies are- Robotics and Intelligent Systems Club (RISC), Web and Design Society (WebnD), and Neuromancers (The Programming Society).
