My life at IIT

Remarks :

Mathematics was my favorite subject since the 11th standard. I opted for M.Sc in mathematics after a lot of doubt and confusion. When I gave the exam, I was confirmed for this course. The admission fee is a bit higher i.e. Rs. 5900. Institute only accepts online applications for the courses and subsequently pays for the course. Admission pointers state that a student must have a minimum of 55% in graduation and should clear the entrance exam.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The entire course is completed in two years i.e. four semesters. Electives are taught from the third semester. The course curriculum was very interesting and a bit tiring. I acquired my grip over differential analysis over the period with the help of professors and mentors. Class size was kept to a minimum number of 40-50. Weekly assignments were also given for our practice. All the faculty members were highly qualified and educated.

Placement Experience :

Sitting in the placement week of an IIT is like a dream for every IITian. Top international, domestic MNCs and conglomerates visit the campus for placements. The highest CTC of the week was Rs. 49 LPA. Most of the M.Sc students went for teaching jobs irrespective of the companies. Jaguar Land Rover, Goldman Sachs, GE India, Amazon, Honeywell, Adobe, Vedanta, GAIL, CDAC, TRAI, REC, Tata Steel.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

This time very few students opted for the scholarship from my batch. Rs. 35600 was the total fee for the course. A whole lot of scholarships and options for financial aid are available for needy students to choose from. The most opted scholarship is the merit-based scholarship and the SC/ST scholarship. Separate form filling is required if you want to apply for a scholarship or an education loan.

Campus Life :

There are three fests of IIT Bhubaneswar which are most loved by everyone. Wissenaire, Alma Fiesta, Ashvamedha are those three events. Wissenaire is the techno-management fest and the competitions organized here are just amazing. Concerts are also held every 2-3 months. My social circle expanded a lot by studying here and I still miss the time studying, enjoying at the campus. Those were good 2 years.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The courseware is supposed to have a practical approach but somehow it's the opposite. In india especially when you're doing masters in science the courseware should include the syllabus of CSIR NET but it didn't. the subjects weren't that of use. The faculties too had little idea about what they're teaching. And the skill courses which is supposed to boost your cv somehow doesn't. Rather they're a burden to your College days.

From the 3rd semester only students can contact in the placement cell for placement details and good companies come to hire students but due to lot of B.Tech & M.Tech students, it's is quite competative. But it depends on an individual how they perform in the pre-selection tests of the placements.

Students can apply for campus placements from first semester itself. But most of the companies demands for final year students. The average package was around 8-9 lpa . Almost 80% students got placement in my department. I will pursue PhD after the degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Love and curiosity towards living beings, how life beings, how it works, these questions influenced me to take my course. In real world, we definitely need to advance in the research of animal research, molecular biology, cancer biology, immunology to develop vaccination, medicines and to treat cancer using CAR-T cell therapy, the latest in India. Proper guidance and research laboratory is required to a successful career in it. Also the most important exam, CSIR-NET. You have to qualify JRF in order to pursue PhD and it is quite difficult. Only 1% of the total applicants get JRF. Competition is tough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm keenly interested in physics and I had heard about this institute that the teaching quality is very good here that's why I opted to study the course here. We have projects in the final year to make us intrested in future reasearch works and PhD. But apart from this we have a lengthy syllabus and in physics we have to give exams of 2 subjects per day and we have to give the exam of 8 subjects in 4 days, without any gap back to back This can be considered to change.
