The curriculum is very much well organised for both the mining as well as oil and gas industries. Since it is a applied course so we get an insight of how we can apply this course in the industry. The exams are very frequently taken. In a semester, there are two quizzes, one mid semester and one end semester for every subject.

The courses here in IIT Bombay are very important and I can say best among other IITs. If we want to study further higher then definitely the curriculum helps. Improvements can be done in sense of adjustment in semesters. Frequency of exams are justified.

As a student of B.sc (Hons) first two years you have to clear all the optional courses, which is a good perspective to overall development of students but due to this student can not totally concentrate on the main course and competitive exam.
I chose this course as my interest was in biotechnology and research. There are a total of 27 faculty in our department of Biosciences and Bioengineering and the total students in M.Sc. are 28 and M.Tech. is 25. All the faculty are the real gems of our department and will guide you really in the best way possible they have in-depth knowledge of their subject as they all are highly qualified (MIn. Post Doc and Chair Prof.). We have 2-semester exams (Mid-sem and End-sem) each Semester and there are in total 4 Semesters and the exams are more conceptual based.
Along with the highly reputed standards of the IIT group, the fee structure of IIT Bombay is also one major reason to apply for the M.Sc programme here. We were charged a semester fee of INR 19,000 only and I think it is more than affordable for an institution like IIT-B. The total programme fee for M.Sc- Physics was INR 76,000.
Scholarships are given. Further all Dual degree students are categorised as Teaching assistantship categories and are paid a scholarship of ?â_6000/month. For this scholarship, Students have to help professors in teaching one course. For instance grading assignments and term exams answerscripts and all.
I'm pursuing M. Sc in chemistry from this university. There are thirty-eight facility members. And here, each facility member (prof) assigned for one or mostly 2 students to guide in the research field and project. This is a more helpful thing for student.
My undergrad degree was in Microbiology and I had a knack for Molecular Biology then, hence Biotechnology was the best course for me over Chemistry and Environmental Science. Roughly 1:3 was the student: faculty ratio. Faculties are postdoc holders from renowned institutes across the world like Harvard. There were exams round the year and since exams were divided into multiple of 10's or 20's it was quite easy to pass.
It is indeed expensive as it is located in a prime place like Mumbai. But there is help available for financially backward people. They also provide those students with laptops. The SC-ST category students get back their mess fees.
The entire course and stay at the hostel for 2 years was covered within 3,00,000 INR. The course fee per semester was around 50,000 INR. And there was 4 semester so that means 2,00,00 INR. The rest was for hostel fees. For students from economically challenged backgrounds, the fees are less. And there are scholarships as well.
There is a course called CS207 Discrete Structures taught by Professor Ajit Diwan. It was related to Discrete Mathematics - Number Theory, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Sets, and Groups, and was one of the most difficult courses my friend came across.
Professor Diwan is well known for his highly challenging problems and course material. During his lectures, he delivers a lot of information based on principles. For math lovers, his classes are an absolute delight.
He refrains from conducting more than one exam a month. However, the level of difficulty of the exam is high. The questions look very complicated but when one ponders upon them, they don’t seem that difficult.
The exams were extremely difficult to the extent that the passing cutoff was 7 out of 100 marks. Despite the entire batch consisting of JEE toppers, a lot of them were not able to make it to the cutoff.
