College Description

Remarks :

It is the best university in India. A lot of research work is going on there. A lot of fun activities along with profound pressure are part and parcel of our daily life. All I can think of are positive remarks.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is very compact. Almost every topic from statistics has been covered along with some additional courses (as elective). There are four semesters throughout the 2 years of course plan and for each semester there is a mid-semester. Also, there are frequent class-tests, called quizzes, that are taken by the respective professors.

Placement Experience :

With respect to Placement and Job opportunities, IIT Bombay is one of the leading institutes in India. From our department's point of view also, these opportunities are really good. Yes, the college provides internships both academically & industrially. Foreign universities collaborate with IIT Bombay for hiring bright merits for academic internships. I personally was hired by a company - Abzooba for a data analytics role in Pune. My stipend was 35,000 per month for a period of 2 months.

College Events :

There are a lot of events at our institute. Among innumerable events, some are - 2 phases of PG Cult (postgraduate cultural competition), Techfest, Moodindigo (Asia's biggest college fest), Kaladarshan, PAF (performance art festival), etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It is indeed expensive as it is located in a prime place like Mumbai. But there is help available for financially backward people. They also provide those students with laptops. The SC-ST category students get back their mess fees.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is an M&M (Merit cum means) scholarship for students in financial need. From our department, there is another scholarship that I am offered - the Pfizer scholarship. It is given to 2 of the top students having an M.Sc project based on statistics.

Campus Life :

There are general championships for football, cricket, volleyball, etc. This is a competition among all the departments in iit Bombay where anyone from that department can participate. There are dance, music, analytics lab also.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel infrastructure is really good. Although there is scarcity for space as the number of students is quite large with respect to the number of hostels. Some hostels are under construction. The internet facility is the best.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network is very strong as the students are spread in many universities and companies across the world. While we were preparing for our placement season, the alumni network came forward to give us a hand on experience on how these placement interviews take place.

Faculty :

They are very much qualified indeed. But I have experienced a better quality of teaching in my B.Sc level. But they are quite sound in technical aspects of statistics which help us learning things practically.

Placement Experience:

From third semester students are eligible for getting placements. Companies like Cairn India, SLB, Exonn, Halliburton etc come every year for placements. Highest package is around 24 lakhs and average is 13 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placed is very less. After getting degree anyone can give competitive exams like gate for PSUs and GSI and if anybody is interested they can go for phds.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum at Amity is more of research based. They have dissertations for students at the end of of their academic year, and also provide mentors for the same. The syllabus is also not very vast and covers the most necessary topics.

The placements are actually very nice since if you study well, all of the students can be eligible for placements and there are various companies which visit on campus for hiring so there is always a chance of 100% placements here. The highest package goes upto 14 LPA.

Placement Experience:

By the end of sem3 itself, the postgraduates are deployed into interviews for certain internships. But if you are with good academic scores and knowledge you can even get directly placed. Every individual is given 3 chances by the college to get and crack the interview but if the student is not able to then he is guided to where to apply but mostly ICRI makes sure everyone is placed as the college proudly stays with its 100% placement tag line. As I told here there are varied background people here with different needs of roles, the highest package I have seen getting is 15L pa to the lowest of 3L pa which even depends upon the company to your broad spectrum of knowledge. To specify which companies come here for recruitment are sun pharma, Cipla, and many more there are all 20+ companies that come and hire the intellectuals. To specify about me I am planning to get a CRC post as a start for CRA in the future.
