The curriculum is pretty good but it is also very hectic for information technology students as every course has a course project, doing 4 projects in SEM very hectic. There won't be any scope for the students to do on his own rather they take it from the internet and learn it and present it. The courses are pretty good offered by the college. The areas of improvement as per my opinion is to remove unnecessary projects for few courses and teaching methods are already very good very interactive professors. Very interactive professors. The frequency of exams is once in two months ie, mid semester and in semester exams, if you study well and understand the concept there moderate exams.

Each course and department may vary in the calculation design, so it's important to consider factor such as industrial demand, alignment of the current trends and the depth of the coverage in the key subject areas. The curriculum should cover essential topics the learning experience and prepared students for real world challenges offering a variety of attractive courses and opportunities for specialisation. allow students to tailor the education based on their interest and career goals.

It is good. We have vast syllabus covering various topics. We have two quizzes, one mid semester examination, one end semester examination over a span of five month semester. It prepares us for real life problems.

Circulum is well designed with respect to current field and demand. During first year all branch students are given brief basics of all the branches of engineering through different subjects. From 2 nd year onwards the core subjects would be taught with respect to their branch. By organising many events , tech fests hackathons and workshops to empower students with logical thinking.

First year course in general for every student in collage irrespective of their branches. If I talk specially about my branch it is quite well maintained. I don't have any conplain. There were no specific thing which attracted me to take this course.

The curriculum here in NITK is one of the finest curriculums among all nits. The faculty here is very good they all are phd certified members. The curriculum of NITK is stress free and student likely. There will be no exam stress. The curriculum is designed in such a way that all should face real world applications

My course ie Information Technology is a much software centric course which focuses on coding and software courses from the first year itself. It has placements almost similar to Cse. It includes courses such as Dsa, oops, discrete mathematics, linear algebra , etc which are essential for crackung placements of major mncs. Areas of improvement can be admitting more highly regarded professors with in depth knowledge of the subject. We have 2 major exams which is midsem and endsem and then we have 2 quizzes per semester for each course. So almost every 3 weeks we have an exam. The exams are easy but only if one has gone through the topics.

The course plan is not the very upto date as you get in scaler school of technology or in the founder turned entrepreneurs college. But yes it is kind of okaish because being in IT in the first year we also need to learn subjects like chemistry and physics and even english. But i think it is the course structure of the upcoming years that actually compelled me to go with the course and jsut go for it. Being a love of tech itt was really nce to see the topics which we have in our curriculam. The course plan may make you 40 percentage ready for the industry but it is the interships and all that make you comfortable. Definitely the syllabus is something that these guys should ponder upon.Talking about exams oh my god if someone is telling you that college life is chill then feel free to ask him contact someone from our college because of water shortage here our semester has been reduced to a 3 months one and hell lot of exams are going on after more or less 20 or 25 days.

The courses here are very relevant in terms of placements like for our Branch IT we are having OOPS ,DSA as our subjects, for other branches also they are dong whatever they will do after the placements.
My brother has graduated from NIT Surathkal in 2018 and completed his BTech in Information Technology. According to his experience, the department had helpful and brilliant students, although the faculty was a mixture of average and good professors. The CSE and IT departments are the most sought after and have an average placement rate of 90%-100%, so here are some more facts regarding the same-
The following table shows the placement data for IT at NIT Surathkal-

The good point about the IT Department is that it has an excellent placement rate only second to CSE. Scoring good marks also is not an issue if you're able to rote learn for subjects like Data Structures, also if it could be taught using Introduction to Algorithms, then it'll be easy for students.
Both NITK and SVNIT are tier-1 NITs and are excellent choices for engineering. Moreover both the branches are one of the most coveted branches so the choice of colleges is rather difficult here.
Go for CSE at SVNIT, if you are interested in CSE only. Usually CSE faculty is better than IT faculty. But if the tag of the college matters more then go for IT at NIT Surathkal as it has a better reputation than SVNIT in terms of job placement, alumni network, infrastructure, academics, start-up culture, etc. Here are a few additional reasons why you should choose NIT Surathkal
Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on your own preferences. However, I can say with certainty that choosing either colleges and branches will give you amazing results choices because CSE & IT are the most in-demand branches, combined with the tier-1 college tag.
NIT Surathkal IT is far superior to NIT Calicut. It is well-known in India for its CSE/IT branches. It is a highly regarded engineering college in India, and after four years of B.Tech college, the specific branch does not matter.
NITK outperforms Calicut in terms of reputation and placements. Furthermore, because of the higher cutoffs, the quality of students may be slightly higher here.
IT at NITK is nearly equivalent to CSE here. During placements, nearly all companies open to CS are open for IT as well.
Categories | IT at NITK | CSE at NITC |
Course fee | 5.40 lakhs | 5.42 lakhs |
Placement rate | 92% | 85% |
Average salary package | 8 LPA | 8.1 LPA |
Highest salary package | 35 LPA | 36 LPA |
The subjects taught and the syllabus in both departments are also similar. In fact, the IT department may be slightly better than the CS department in terms of facilities and infrastructure, as it is newer. Previously, the quality of students in CS was higher than in IT, but with significant increases in IT cutoffs, both are now equally good.
Between the options, you should choose NIT Surathkal IT. Here are the reasons why.
Here is a full overview of NIT Surathkal
You will have to stay here in the hostel, which provides a good experience for them. During the tenure of the course, you will learn how to take care of yourself. Also, if your hometown is Bangalore, then you can frequently visit home.
IT department is nothing less than just excellent. The faculty here is immensely experienced and talented with Ph.D. degrees from IISC Bangalore or some reputed foreign institute.
23 students were also selected from NIT Surathkal for the google summer of code (GSOC) and it also scored 13th rank in the ICPC Asia contest. One of the most successful startups is PRACTO, which is a venture of NIT Surathkal alumini.
Both NIT Surathkal and IIIT Allahabad are reputed institutes for IT education in India. Here are some key points that can help you make an informed decision:
NIT Surathkal:
IIIT Allahabad:
In conclusion, both NIT Surathkal and IIIT Allahabad are excellent options for IT education in India, and the choice ultimately depends on your personal preferences, location, and other factors
MNNIT Allahabad offers similar opportunities for IT and CSE branches. Other than a few subjects, the curriculum, faculty, and career opportunities are more or less the same for NIT Allahabad.
Though Surathkal is promising a better university life with beaches and all.
NIT Allahabad houses one of the country's biggest and brightest CSE departments. Here you're getting a good, competitive, and coding-oriented environment. Seniors are very supportive and the course is good. But the location is quite remote so if you belong to a metro city, you will be disappointed with the city life.
In terms of placements, both institutes are almost on the same level.
