For Btech you have to pass class 12 and appear for jee main and based on the cut-off you will be eligible for admission you have to score atleast 98 percentile if you are a general category student. There are reservations based on caste. SC ST and obc have low cutoff as compared to general students. The admissions process is through josaa and csab counselling. You have to take 4 exams per semester one for test 1, mid sem, test 2 and end sem atleast.

I gave JEE Mains exam and secured a rank of 4k. I applied through Josaa counseling. After getting seat in NITK, I got instruction for further things on e-mail. The whole process was not that difficult. Then all final things are done in college once you come there on reporting date. Reservation for seat is given according to caste and gender in certain ratio.

Only students who have scored above 99 percentile in JEE Mains are eligible for BTech in ECE at NITK under the general category. Reservation benefits for other categories are available. Applications aren't there, admission is done through JOSAA counselling.

To get admission into NITK one have to clear jee mains with minimum of 97 percentile of you are not from home state and 95 percentile if you are from home state. The above stated percentiles are for male student from gen category. If someone is from OBC then decrease 2-3 percentile from the above mentioned. And for a sc or St student 5-7 percentile difference can be seen. Once you clear jee mains you have to do your counselling at jossa and once you get seat at nit you have to report there offline . And congratulations now you are nitian. The exam is conducted twice every year and the difficult level is considered to be moderate. The application form is available at jee mains website and refer the website for more details.

Admission procedure was smooth. Within 2 hours we have verified our documents and after that we have selected mess depending upon our comforts. Then we have selected the hostel room . You can get reservation in general category if your parents income is below 8 lacks then you will be eligible for this reservation . For admission process you have to enrolled in CCMT site if you are gate qualified after that there will be 3 normal rounda and 2 special round will be conducted.CCMT gives you so many choices to fill for that they will charge something arround 3000 for normal round and for special round and national spot round they will also change 3000 if at normal round you will get any college you have to pay 30000 to take part in next round and in special round you will have to pay 40000 to part in next round so I think there is no need of improvement in admission procedure

Through GATE we will get that course also payment seats are available but fees is too much around 2.5lac per semester. GATE exam Application fees vary every year around 1700-2000 Application date around November and December exam time February. Reservation is avaliable Admission process is good.Gate is doing fine
Firstly, congratulations on scoring this in SAT. The grading here is quite relative. Normally, the state toppers, IIT 3000-8000 rankers, 96% to 98% CBSE scorers will be your immediate competition with your rank of 1850. Although, there are good chances that you might have to wait for a few rounds to finish and then maybe in the third or fourth round you might get lucky.
The rank mentioned by you here is quite a fair enough rank. It is also advised here that you have a look at SAT scores as well for the past academic year. There is a slight trend that the scores might vary every year depending on overall performance of all applicants.
Since much shuffling and reshuffling takes place in all the branches including IT in all the admission rounds, it is worthwhile that you wait a longer and try in the third (or fourth) round of counseling.
