The course content in upcoming batches has improved upon significantly and now also addresses industrial standards. Still a bit of this knowledge has to be self gained however the course structure is far better now.

The main benifit at IIT Gandhinagar is that the class size is small as compared to the older IITs. The curriculum is same in the other IITs, ie. "Very Hectic". But this really motivated many of my friends to explore the research part of the education, which is very important if you want to pursue further studies. There are two exams in a semester, usually of 2 hours. The difficulty level is obviously high, as the papers are made by IIT professors.

Some courses are fixed for our graduation and some other are based on our interest. There will be limit of credits we are taking. The course difficulty is based on professor. And course policy also based on professor. professors give assignments ,quizes, project, labs, etc based on their opinion.

IITGN has active learning circulum. And we have exam twice a semester and some short quizzes frequently and we have compulsory HSS and designing courses. We should increase the no of assignments inthe courses.

IIT Gandhinagar follows a drastically new approach than its peers. It has a very advanced curriculum. I took mechanical engineering bcz I was always interested in engines and robotics. IIT provides me with the ideal environment to pursue my academic interests to the fullest. Every course contains a tutorial/lab and a end-sem project component in it. These activities provide an in-depth knowledge of the subject. The professors are also highly supportive and interested in their students. For a 4credit course we need to attend almost 3classes of 1.5hrs each week. 4credit courses are decent difficulty wise and may require extra efforts from the student side.

At IIT Gandhinagar, they provide us with a very flexible course curriculum. We can choose whatever courses we want to further go on. That's the specific aspect that attract me. The curriculum provides such a deep insght into real world problems and incorporates a blend of theoretical foundations and practice skills develpement and practical learning through hands-on projects etc. However there are areas of improvements, such as increasing the integration of emerging techonologies and industry trends into curriculum and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among departments. There are two exam systems here, IIT Gandhinagar. Each time gap between these exams is approximately 7-10 weeks. The exam difficulty level is moderate to hard.

I can provide you a general overview of the course curriculum, faculty members, and evaluation methods in IITs. The faculty members are higly qualified, industry experience, Researchers in the IITs. Generally, the faculty to student ratio is kept relatively low in IITs, allowing for personalized attention and interaction. termn exams in IITs are typically conducted on a regular schedule, ensuring timely assessment of student's undersatnding.
I chose mechanical engineering as I am interested to pursue a career in robotics, the faculty: student ratio is very high which means that the faculties have time and resources to help students on an individual basis. The teaching of some faculties is quite monotonous while some are very good.
IIT Gandhinagar Mechanical Department is considered to be one of the top Mechanical Engineering departments in India, with a strong focus on undergraduate and graduate education.

Overall, the Mechanical Department at IIT Gandhinagar is a great choice for those interested in pursuing a career in mechanical engineering.
Yes, it was confusing once, two years ago and now I can happily confess that I do not regret choosing IIT Gandhinagar over BITS-Pilani. Since I also have friends in both the colleges, I can provide a detailed overview of the good and bad aspects of the colleges.
Also, information on BITS might be limited due to it will depend mostly on other people’s experiences, but the answer will talk about the good and bad side of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar.
Following are the merits of IIT Gandhinagar:
One thing that students could miss at IIT Gandhinagar is the cultural fests and events. They don't have grand cultural fests of their own. This privilege was taken away by the seniors, which we were trying to rectify. But gratefully, we already have enough, so, that doesn't make us expect too much of these grand fests for ourselves.
