WBJEE 2026: Provisional Answer Key (Out), Result, Cutoff, Mark vs Rank, and Counselling

The WBJEE 2026 Model/Provisional Answer key has been released on its official website – wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee/. The candidates can download their provisional Answer key by using their application number, password, and DOB.

  • Candidates who are dissatisfied with the provisional answer keys can raise objections through the online portal until May 29, 2026, by 11:59 pm.
  • The challenge window will be available for 3 days with a non-refundable fee of Rs. 500/- per question.
  • The board will release the final answer key after reviewing the challenges and then publish the results based on the final answer key.
  • Once released, candidates will be able to download their scorecards from the website using their application number and their date of birth.

After the declaration of the result, the counselling will start tentatively from June or July for the admissions. The verification of documents will be done by the respective institution.

WBJEE 2026: Answer Key

The WBJEE 2026 model/provisional answer key has been released on 27 May 2026 on the board’s website. Once released, candidates can log in to the students’ portal and view the answer keys.

  • The board will provide an answer key challenge window for candidates to make challenges against the provisional answer key.
  • The candidates have to pay a fee of Rs. 500 /- per question, excluding the bank service charges.
  • After reviewing the provisional answer key challenges, the board will release the final answer key.
  • The board’s decision will be final in case of the final answer key, and no further communication will be entertained regarding this.

WBJEE 2026: OMR and Response Sheets

The board will also provide the images of the OMRs and the recorded response sheet for a short duration of time on its website. Once released, candidates will be able to download their OMRs and recorded responses using their login credentials.

  • Any candidate can challenge the recorded responses online for a fee of Rs. 500 /- per question, excluding the bank’s service charges.
  • The board will then review the challenges and make the final decision. The decision of the board will be final.
  • The board will not entertain the challenges sent by email, letter, fax, telephone, etc., or any other method other than online mode.

Note: The OMR images cannot be downloaded after the counselling is over.

WBJEE 2026: Result

The WBJEE results are usually declared one month after the exam is conducted. Based on previous year result release trends, WBJEE 2026 results are expected to be released between 20 June 2026 and 30 June 2026.

  • The board will publish the result as a rank card, and it will include the rank, total scores, and component scores in paper 1 and paper 2, along with personal details of the candidates.
  • The candidates will be able to download their rank card for a short duration of time by logging in with their password.
  • The rank cards will be issued to all candidates who appeared in WBJEE 2026, but not all candidates may be awarded a rank and hence may not be eligible for counselling.
  • The Board will set a cutoff rank and/or a cutoff score, which will be the eligibility criteria for the counselling.

The rank card cannot be downloaded after the counselling is over, so candidates must preserve this document safely.

Result Grievances

If any candidate has any issues or grievances about his/her score, he/she may raise a query through email to info@wbjeeb.in within 24 hours of the declaration of the result.

  • The candidate must attach the relevant documents, such as copies of OMRs, rank card, question booklet number and its series code, question-wise calculation of the score
  • For a physical representation, the candidate will be allowed to appear but only until noon on the next working day after the result is published.
  • The Board will not entertain any queries or grievances thereafter regarding the grievances related to the results of the candidates.

WBJEE 2026: Cutoff

The WBJEE 2026 expected cutoff is based on the projected difficulty level and previous year closing rank trends.

  • The cutoff rank for the CSE branch in Jadavpur University is expected to be 1-300 for the General category.
  • The cutoff rank for the other branches, such as ECE, is expected to be around 300-700 for the general category at Jadavpur University.
  • The cutoff rank in Kalyani Government Engineering College is expected to be around 1800-4000 and 3000 – 6000 for CSE and IT, in the general category.

The actual WBJEE 2026 cutoff will be released during the counselling process, likely in June–July 2026.

WBJEE 2026: Cutoff

WBJEE 2026: Marks Vs Rank

In the WBJEE 2026, a score of around 170-200 is expected to get candidates a rank around 1-200, which can get you admission to top branches in Jadavpur University.

  • A rank between 200 and 800 is expected to be secured by a score ranging from 140 to 170 out of 200.
  • A score below 100 is expected to secure you a rank between 3000 and 8000, based on exam difficulty and seat availability.

WBJEE 2026: Rank List

The WBJEE board will not publish any rank list publicly to ensure the confidentiality of individual candidates. The WBJEE board will prepare the ranks based on the candidates' scores in the exam.

  • Once the result is released, candidates will be able to download their rank card from the official website.
  • Based on the papers, two separate merit ranks will be awarded, i.e., General merit rank and Pharmacy merit rank.

General Merit Rank (GMR)

  • The GMR will be prepared based on the total scores obtained by the candidates in both papers taken together.
  • The ranking shall be done in descending order of total marks scored in all the subjects.
  • The category rank will also be provided for the respective category of students.
  • Admission to all Engineering / Technology / Architecture Courses and the Pharmacy Course at Jadavpur University will be based only on GMR.
  • The sequencing orders for the counselling/allotment of seats /admission will be based only on the GMR and not the category ranks.

Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR)

  • The PMR will be prepared based on the total score obtained by the candidates in Paper 2 only.
  • The ranking shall be done in descending order of marks scored in Paper 2.
  • The category rank will also be provided for the respective category of students.
  • Admission to all Pharmacy Courses except in Jadavpur University will be based on PMR.
  • The sequencing orders for the counselling/allotment of seats /admission will be based only on the PMR and not the category ranks.

WBJEE 2026: Tie-breaking Criteria

There will be a tie-breaking criterion to determine the merit rank in case of a tie between two students. The tie-breaking criteria for the GMR. PMR and the final tie-breaking rule for both are given below:

Final Tie-breaking rule for GMR and PMR

After using the tie-breaking rules, if the tie still persists, then the candidate's date of birth will be used, with the older candidate getting preference over the younger.

  • And if the tie remains, then it will be decided by the application number, i.e. the candidate who applied earlier will get preference.

WBJEE 2026: Counselling

The WBJEE board will publish a separate notification regarding the details of the counselling and admission on its website after the declaration of the WBJEE 2026 result.

  • The board will also publish the Course-wise and institute-wise availability of seats before counselling and allotment.
  • At the time of counselling or admission, the assigned institution will perform all the verification related to the documents and personal information of the candidates.

WBJEE 2026: Reservation

The reservation criteria, as per the information provided in the WBJEE 2026 official information brochure, are given below:
